²Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.

² خداوند علیه اَدوم مى‌فرماید: «من تو را در بین ملّتها خوار و ذلیل مى‌سازم.

³The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’

³ تکبّر تو، تو را فریب داده است، زیرا که چون بر صخره‌هاى بلند ساکن هستى و مسکنت بر فراز کوههاست، به خود مى‌بالى و مى‌گویى: 'کیست که بتواند دست دراز کند و مرا پایین آورد؟'

⁴Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there,” says Yahweh.

⁴ اگر مانند عقاب بر فراز آسمان پرواز کنى و آشیانه‌ات را در بین ستارگان بسازى، من تو را فرود مى‌آورم.

⁵“If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—wouldn’t they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn’t they leave some gleaning grapes?

⁵ «اگر دزدى در شب به خانه‌اى وارد شود، فقط چیزى را مى‌برد که به آن نیاز دارد، اگر انگورچین براى چیدن انگور بیاید، مقدارى از انگور را بجا مى‌گذارد، امّا دشمنان تو، تو را بکلّی نیست و نابود مى‌کنند.

⁶How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!

⁶ اى فرزند عیسو، وقتى دشمنانت بیایند، تمام ثروت تو را به یغما مى‌برند.

⁷All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him.”

⁷ متّحدانت به تو خیانت کردند و تو را از سرزمینت بیرون راندند. کسانی‌که با تو در صلح بودند بر تو غلبه کردند و دوستانى که نمک تو را خوردند برایت دام گستردند و مى‌گویند: 'کجاست آن‌همه عقل و هوش او؟'»

⁸“Won’t I in that day,” says Yahweh, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?

⁸ خداوند مى‌فرماید: «در آن روز اَدوم را مجازات مى‌کنم. تمام اشخاص دانا را در سرزمینش نابود مى‌سازم و همهٔ حکیمانش را از بین مى‌برم.

⁹Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.

⁹ جنگجویان شجاع تیمان هراسان مى‌شوند و تمام سربازان اَدوم کشته خواهند شد.

¹⁰For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.

¹⁰ «به‌خاطر ظلمى که در حق برادرانت، یعنى فرزندان یعقوب کردى با رسوایى براى همیشه نابود مى‌شوى.

¹¹In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.

¹¹ روزى که دشمنان، دروازه‌هاى آنها را شکستند و بیگانگان، مال و دارایى اورشلیم را بین خود تقسیم کردند و با خود بردند، تو مانند بیگانه‌ای ایستادى و تماشا کردى.

¹²But don’t look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and don’t rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Don’t speak proudly in the day of distress.

¹² تو نمى‌بایست از بدبختى برادرانت خوشحال مى‌شدى، نمى‌بایست در روز مصیبت آنها شادی مى‌کردى و در هنگام غم و اندوه به آنها مى‌‌خندیدى.

¹³Don’t enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Don’t look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.

¹³ تو نمى‌بایست در روز سختى قوم من به شهر آنها داخل مى‌شدى و در زمان مصیبت آنها ثروتشان را تاراج مى‌کردى و از غم آنها شاد مى‌شدى.

¹⁴Don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Don’t deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.

¹⁴ تو نمى‌بایست بر سر چهار راهها مى‌ایستادى تا آنهایى را که می‌‌خواستند فرار کنند بگیری. نمى‌بایست در روز مصیبت آنها را به دست دشمنان تسلیم مى‌کردى.

¹⁵For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.

¹⁵ «من، خداوند بزودى تمام قومها را مجازات مى‌کنم. اى اَدوم، طبق رفتار خودت با تو رفتار مى‌کنم. هرچه کرده‌اى به سر خودت خواهم آورد.

¹⁶For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.

¹⁶ قوم من جام تلخ مجازات را بر روى کوه مقدّس نوشیده است. اقوام دیگر نیز آن را خواهند نوشید، حتّى تلختر از آن را؛ آنها، آن را مى‌نوشند و از بین مى‌روند.

¹⁷But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their possessions.

¹⁷ «امّا در کوه صهیون عدّه‌اى نجات خواهند یافت و آنجا مکان مقدّس خواهد شد و فرزندان یعقوب مالک آن زمینى که میراث آنهاست خواهند گردید.

¹⁸The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them, and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau.” Indeed, Yahweh has spoken.

¹⁸ خاندان یعقوب و یوسف مانند آتشی خواهند بود که خاندان عیسو را مانند کاه خواهند سوزانید و نابود خواهند کرد. هیچ‌کدام از نسل عیسو زنده نخواهند ماند این را خداوند فرموده است.

¹⁹Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.

¹⁹ «مردم از جنوب یهودا، اَدوم را تصرّف خواهند کرد. اهالى دشتهای غربى، سرزمین فلسطین را اشغال خواهند کرد، قوم اسرائیل، سرزمین افرایم و سامره را و طایفهٔ بنیامین، جلعاد را تصرّف خواهند کرد.

²⁰The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.

²⁰ تبعید شدگان از شمال اسرائیل برمى‌گردند و فینیقیه را تا صرفه در قسمت شمال متصرّف مى‌شوند. تبعیدشدگان اورشلیم، که در آسیاى صغیر به سر مى‌برند، به وطن خود بازخواهند گشت و شهرهاى جنوب یهودا را خواهند گرفت. پیروزمندان اورشلیم بر اَدوم حکومت مى‌کنند و خداوند پادشاه ایشان خواهد ‌بود.»

²¹Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be Yahweh’s.
