¹Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved.

¹ ای دوستان من، آرزوی قلبی و استدعای من از درگاه خدا برای اسرائیل این است كه ایشان نجات یابند.

²For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

² من می‌توانم شهادت بدهم كه آنها نسبت به خدا متعصّبند امّا تعصّب آنان از روی آگاهی نیست.

³For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

³ زیرا راهی را كه خدا به وسیلهٔ آن، انسان را در حضور خود نیک محسوب می‌کند، نشناختند و كوشیدند راه خودشان را برای به دست آوردن نیكی مطلق درست جلوه دهند و به این دلیل تسلیم نیكی خدا نشدند،

⁴For Christ is the fulfillment or, completion, or end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

⁴ زیرا مسیح هدف و تمام كنندهٔ شریعت است برای هرکه ایمان آورد و به این وسیله در حضور خدا نیک شمرده شود.

⁵For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, “The one who does them will live by them.” Leviticus 18:5

⁵ در مورد آن نیكی كه از شریعت به دست می‌آید، موسی می‌نویسد: «هرکه شریعت را به عمل آورد به وسیلهٔ آن زیست خواهد كرد،»

⁶But the righteousness which is of faith says this, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ Deuteronomy 30:12 (that is, to bring Christ down);

⁶ امّا دربارهٔ نیكی مطلق كه از راه ایمان به دست می‌آید می‌گوید: «در دل خود نگویید كیست كه به آسمان صعود كند؟» (تا مسیح را پایین آورد)

⁷or, ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ Deuteronomy 30:13 (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)”

⁷ یا: «كیست كه به جهان زیرین فرو رود؟» (تا مسیح را باز از میان مردگان بیرون آورد.)

⁸But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart”; Deuteronomy 30:14 that is, the word of faith, which we preach:

⁸ او می‌گوید: «كلام خدا (یعنی همان پیام ایمانی كه ما اعلام می‌کنیم) نزدیک توست، آن بر لبها و در قلب توست،»

⁹that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

⁹ زیرا اگر با لبان خود اعتراف كنی كه عیسی، خداوند است و در قلب خود ایمان آوری كه خدا او را پس از مرگ زنده ساخت، نجات خواهی یافت.

¹⁰For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹⁰ زیرا انسان با قلب ایمان می‌آورد و نیک محسوب می‌گردد و با لبهای خود به ایمانش اعتراف می‌کند و نجات می‌باید.

¹¹For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” Isaiah 28:16

¹¹ کتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «هرکه به او ایمان آورد هرگز خجل نخواهد شد.»

¹²For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.

¹² پس هیچ تفاوتی میان یهودیان و غیر یهودیان نیست زیرا خدای واحد، خداوند همه است و نسبت به همهٔ کسانی‌که به او روی می‌آورند، بی‌اندازه بخشنده است؛

¹³For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:32

¹³ زیرا «هر کس که از خداوند کمک بخواهد، نجات خواهد یافت.»

¹⁴How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?

¹⁴ امّا اگر به او ایمان نیاورده‌اند، چگونه می‌توانند به او روی آورند؟ و چگونه می‌توانند به كسی ایمان آورند كه دربارهٔ او چیزی نشنیده‌اند؟ و چگونه می‌توانند بدون حضور کسی‌که آن پیام را اعلام كند، چیزی بشنوند؟

¹⁵And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Isaiah 52:7

¹⁵ و آنها چگونه می‌توانند پیام را اعلام كنند اگر برای این كار فرستاده نشده باشند؟ چنانکه كتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «چه خوش است قدمهای کسانی‌که بشارت می‌دهند.»

¹⁶But they didn’t all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Isaiah 53:1

¹⁶ امّا همه، آن بشارت را نپذیرفتند زیرا خود اشعیا می‌فرماید: «خداوندا چه كسی پیام ما را باور كرده است؟»

¹⁷So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

¹⁷ پس ایمان از شنیدن پیام پدید می‌آید و پیام ما كلام مسیح است.

¹⁸But I say, didn’t they hear? Yes, most certainly, “Their sound went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:4

¹⁸ امّا می‌پرسم: «آیا ممكن است كه آنها پیام را نشنیده باشند؟ البتّه شنیده‌اند، زیرا صدای ایشان به سرتاسر جهان و سخن آنها به دور افتاده‌ترین نقاط دنیا رسیده است.»

¹⁹But I ask, didn’t Israel know? First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry.” Deuteronomy 32:31

¹⁹ باز می‌پرسم: آیا قوم اسرائیل این را نمی‌دانست؟ قبل از همه، موسی می‌گوید: «من به وسیلهٔ کسانی‌که حتّی قومی به شمار نمی‌آیند، حسادت شما را بر می‌انگیزم و توسط قومی نادان، شما را به خشم خواهم آورد.»

²⁰Isaiah is very bold, and says, “I was found by those who didn’t seek me. I was revealed to those who didn’t ask for me.” Isaiah 65:1

²⁰ و اشعیا با جسارت بیشتر می‌گوید: «كسانی مرا یافتند كه طالب من نبودند و خود را به كسانی ظاهر ساختم كه جویای من نبودند.» امّا دربارهٔ قوم اسرائیل می‌گوید: «تمام روز با آغوش باز منتظر بازگشت این قوم نافرمان و سركش هستم.»

²¹But as to Israel he says, “All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” Isaiah 65:2
