¹Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

¹Ora pois, já que Cristo padeceu na carne, armai-vos também vós deste mesmo pensamento; porque aquele que padeceu na carne já cessou do pecado;

²that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

²para que, no tempo que ainda vos resta na carne não continueis a viver para as concupiscências dos homens, mas para a vontade de Deus.

³For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

³Porque é bastante que no tempo passado tenhais cumprido a vontade dos gentios, andando em dissoluções, concupiscências, borrachices, glutonarias, bebedices e abomináveis idolatrias.

⁴They think it is strange that you don’t run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:

⁴E acham estranho não correrdes com eles no mesmo desenfreamento de dissolução, blasfemando de vós;

⁵who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁵os quais hão de dar conta ao que está preparado para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

⁶For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.

⁶Pois é por isto que foi pregado o evangelho até aos mortos, para que, na verdade, fossem julgados segundo os homens na carne, mas vivessem segundo Deus em espírito.

⁷But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.

⁷Mas já está próximo o fim de todas as coisas; portanto sede sóbrios e vigiai em oração;

⁸And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

⁸tendo antes de tudo ardente amor uns para com os outros, porque o amor cobre uma multidão de pecados;

⁹Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

⁹sendo hospitaleiros uns para com os outros, sem murmuração;

¹⁰As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

¹⁰servindo uns aos outros conforme o dom que cada um recebeu, como bons despenseiros da multiforme graça de Deus.

¹¹If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹Se alguém fala, fale como entregando oráculos de Deus; se alguém ministra, ministre segundo a força que Deus concede; para que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo, ma quem pertencem a glória e o domínio para todo o sempre. Amém.

¹²Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

¹²Amados, não estranheis a ardente provação que vem sobre vós para vos experimentar, como se coisa estranha vos acontecesse;

¹³But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹³mas regozijai-vos por serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo; para que também na revelação da sua glória vos regozijeis e exulteis.

¹⁴If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁴Se pelo nome de Cristo sois vituperados, bem-aventurados sois, porque sobre vós repousa o Espírito da glória, o Espírito de Deus.

¹⁵For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.

¹⁵Que nenhum de vós, entretanto, padeça como homicida, ou ladrão, ou malfeitor, ou como quem se entremete em negócios alheios;

¹⁶But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.

¹⁶mas, se padece como cristão, não se envergonhe, antes glorifique a Deus neste nome.

¹⁷For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?

¹⁷Porque já é tempo que comece o julgamento pela casa de Deus; e se começa por nós, qual será o fim daqueles que desobedecem ao evangelho de Deus?

¹⁸“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?” Proverbs 11:31

¹⁸E se o justo dificilmente se salva, onde comparecerá o ímpio pecador?

¹⁹Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁹Portanto os que sofrem segundo a vontade de Deus confiem as suas almas ao fiel Criador, praticando o bem.
