1Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east.
1И встал Иаков и пошел в землю сынов востока.
2He looked, and behold, a well in the field, and, behold, three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. The stone on the well’s mouth was large.
2И увидел: вот, на поле колодезь, и там три стада мелкого скота, лежавшие около него, потому что из того колодезя поили стада. Над устьем колодезя был большой камень.
3There all the flocks were gathered. They rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again on the well’s mouth in its place.
3Когда собирались туда все стада, отваливали камень от устья колодезяи поили овец; потом опять клали камень на свое место, на устье колодезя.
4Jacob said to them, “My relatives, where are you from?” They said, “We are from Haran.”
4Иаков сказал им: братья мои! откуда вы? Они сказали: мы из Харрана.
5He said to them, “Do you know Laban, the son of Nahor?” They said, “We know him.”
5Он сказал им: знаете ли вы Лавана, сына Нахорова? Они сказали: знаем.
6He said to them, “Is it well with him?” They said, “It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep.”
6Он еще сказал им: здравствует ли он? Они сказали: здравствует; и вот, Рахиль, дочь его, идет с овцами.
7He said, “Behold, it is still the middle of the day, not time to gather the livestock together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them.”
7И сказал: вот, дня еще много; не время собирать скот; напойте овец и пойдите, пасите.
8They said, “We can’t, until all the flocks are gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well’s mouth. Then we water the sheep.”
8Они сказали: не можем, пока не соберутся все стада, и не отвалят камня от устья колодезя; тогда будем мы поить овец.
9While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she kept them.
9Еще он говорил с ними, как пришла Рахиль с мелким скотом отца своего, потому что она пасла.
10It happened, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban, his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
10Когда Иаков увидел Рахиль, дочь Лавана, брата матери своей, и овец Лавана, брата матери своей, то подошел Иаков, отвалил камень от устья колодезя и напоил овец Лавана, брата матери своей.
11Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
11И поцеловал Иаков Рахиль и возвысил голос свой и заплакал.
12Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s brother, and that he was Rebekah’s son. She ran and told her father.
12И сказал Иаков Рахили, что он родственник отцу ее и что он сын Ревеккин. А она побежала и сказала отцу своему.
13It happened, when Laban heard the news of Jacob, his sister’s son, that he ran to meet Jacob, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things.
13Лаван, услышав о Иакове, сыне сестры своей, выбежал ему навстречу, обнял его и поцеловал его, и ввел его в дом свой; и онрассказал Лавану все сие.
14Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” He lived with him for a month.
14Лаван же сказал ему: подлинно ты кость моя и плоть моя. И жил у него Иаков целый месяц.
15Laban said to Jacob, “Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what will your wages be?”
15И Лаван сказал Иакову: неужели ты даром будешь служить мне, потому что ты родственник? скажи мне, что заплатить тебе?
16Laban had two daughters. The name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
16У Лавана же было две дочери; имя старшей: Лия; имя младшей:Рахиль.
17Leah’s eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful in form and attractive.
17Лия была слаба глазами, а Рахиль была красива станом и красива лицем.
18Jacob loved Rachel. He said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.”
18Иаков полюбил Рахиль и сказал: я буду служить тебе семь лет за Рахиль, младшую дочь твою.
19Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you, than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me.”
19Лаван сказал: лучше отдать мне ее за тебя, нежели отдать ее задругого кого; живи у меня.
20Jacob served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.
20И служил Иаков за Рахиль семь лет; и они показались ему за несколько дней, потому что он любил ее.
21Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.”
21И сказал Иаков Лавану: дай жену мою, потому что мне уже исполнилось время, чтобы войти к ней.
22Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
22Лаван созвал всех людей того места и сделал пир.
23It happened in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him. He went in to her.
23Вечером же взял дочь свою Лию и ввел ее к нему; и вошел к ней Иаков .
24Laban gave Zilpah his handmaid to his daughter Leah for a handmaid.
24И дал Лаван служанку свою Зелфу в служанки дочери своей Лии.
25It happened in the morning that, behold, it was Leah. He said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? Didn’t I serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?”
25Утром же оказалось, что это Лия. И сказал Лавану: что это сделал ты со мною? не заРахиль ли я служил у тебя? зачем ты обманул меня?
26Laban said, “It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn.
26Лаван сказал: в нашем месте так не делают, чтобы младшую выдать прежде старшей;
27Fulfill the week of this one, and we will give you the other also for the service which you will serve with me yet seven other years.”
27окончи неделю этой, потом дадим тебе и ту за службу, которую ты будешь служить у меня еще семь лет других.
28Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week. He gave him Rachel his daughter as wife.
28Иаков так и сделал и окончил неделю этой. И Лаван дал Рахиль, дочь свою, ему в жену.
29Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah, his handmaid, to be her handmaid.
29И дал Лаван служанку свою Валлу в служанки дочери своей Рахили.
30He went in also to Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
30Иаков вошел и к Рахили, и любил Рахиль больше, нежели Лию; и служил у него еще семь лет других.
31Yahweh saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.
31Господь узрел, что Лия была нелюбима, и отверз утробу ее, а Рахиль была неплодна.
32Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, “Because Yahweh has looked at my affliction. For now my husband will love me.”
32Лия зачала и родила сына, и нарекла ему имя:Рувим, потому что сказала она: Господь призрел на мое бедствие; иботеперь будет любить меня муж мой.
33She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, “Because Yahweh has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also.” She named him Simeon.
33И зачала опять и родила сына, и сказала: Господь услышал, что я нелюбима, и дал мне и сего. И нарекла ему имя: Симеон.
34She conceived again, and bore a son. Said, “Now this time will my husband be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.
34И зачала еще и родила сына, и сказала: теперь-то прилепится ко мне муж мой, ибо я родила ему трех сынов. От сего наречено ему имя: Левий.
35She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “This time will I praise Yahweh.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
35И еще зачала и родила сына, и сказала: теперь-то я восхвалю Господа. Посему нарекла ему имя Иуда. И перестала рождать.
