¹Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

¹Keď tedy Kristus trpel za nás na tele, aj vy sa ozbrojte tou istou mysľou; lebo ten kto trpel na tele, prestal od hriechu,

²that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

²aby nie viacej ľudským žiadostiam, ale vôli Božej žil zbývajúci čas v tele.

³For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

³Lebo dosť nám bolo predošlého času života páchať ľúbosť pohanov, keď sme chodili v nestudatostiach, v zlých žiadostiach, v zbytočnom pití vína, v hodovaniach, v pijatykách a vo všelijakom ohyzdnom modlárstve.

⁴They think it is strange that you don’t run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:

⁴A keď už s nimi nebeháte, aby ste tak prostopašili jako oni, divia sa tomu a rúhajú sa,

⁵who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁵ktorí vydajú počet tomu, ktorý je hotový súdiť živých i mŕtvych.

⁶For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.

⁶Lebo nato sa i mŕtvym kázalo evanjelium, aby boli súdení podľa ľudí v tele a žili podľa Boha v duchu.

⁷But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.

⁷A všetkému sa priblížil koniec.

⁸And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

⁸Teda buďte rozumní a triezvi k modlitbám. Ale predo všetkým majte vrelú lásku navzájom naproti sebe, lebo láska prikrýva množstvo hriechov.

⁹Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

⁹Pohostinní jeden naproti druhému bez reptania.

¹⁰As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

¹⁰Každý, jako ktorý dostal dar milosti, tak si tým slúžte navzájom ako dobrí správcovia rôznej milosti Božej.

¹¹If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹Ak niekto hovorí - jako slová Božie; ak niekto slúži - jako z vlády, ktorú dáva Bôh, aby bol Bôh vo všetkom oslavovaný skrze Ježiša Krista, ktorý má slávu i silu na veky vekov. Ameň.

¹²Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

¹²Milovaní, nedivte sa ohňu, ktorý prišiel na vás pre vaše zkúsenie, ako čo by sa vám diala čudná vec.

¹³But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹³Ale nakoľko máte účasť na utrpeniach Kristových, radujte sa, aby ste sa aj pri zjavení jeho slávy radovali plesajúci.

¹⁴If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁴Ak vás hanobia pre meno Kristovo, blahoslavení ste, lebo Duch slávy a Duch Boží odpočíva na vás, ktorému sa u nich rúhajú, ale u vás ho oslavujú.

¹⁵For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.

¹⁵Lebo nech nikto z vás netrpí jako vrah alebo zlodej alebo ako taký, ktorý robí zlé, alebo jako všetečník, ktorý sa pletie do cudzích vecí!

¹⁶But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.

¹⁶Ale ak trpí ako kresťan, nech sa nehanbí, ale nech oslavuje Boha v tej čiastke.

¹⁷For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?

¹⁷Lebo je čas, aby sa začal súd od domu Božieho; ale ak najprv od nás, čo bude koniec tých, ktorí neposlúchajú evanjelia Božieho?!

¹⁸“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?” Proverbs 11:31

¹⁸A jestli aj spravedlivý sotva býva zachránený, bezbožník a hriešnik kde sa ukáže?

¹⁹Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁹Takže aj tí, ktorí trpia podľa vôle Božej, nech ako vernému Stvoriteľovi v činení dobrého porúčajú svoje duše.
