¹Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

¹A bol nejaký muž v Cezárei, menom Kornelius, stotník z čaty, zvanej Italskej,

²a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.

²nábožný a bojaci sa Boha s celým svojím domom, ktorý dával ľudu mnoho almužien

³At about the ninth hour of the day 3:00 PM , he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

³a vždy sa modlieval Bohu. Ten videl zreteľne vo videní vodne, okolo deviatej hodiny anjela Božieho, že vošiel k nemu a povedal mu: Kornelius!

⁴He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

⁴A on pozrel upreným hlasom na neho a povedal, prestrašený: Čo je Pane? A on mu povedal: Tvoje modlitby a tvoje almužny vstúpily na pamäť pred Bohom.

⁵Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is surnamed Peter.

⁵A tak teraz pošli mužov do Joppy a zavolaj Šimona, ktorý má prímeno Peter.

⁶He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. TR adds “This one will tell you what it is necessary for you to do.” ”

⁷When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.

⁹Now on the next day as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.

¹⁰He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.

¹⁰A veľmi zlačnel a chcel jesť. A kým oni hotovili, pripadlo na neho vytrženie,

¹¹He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,

¹¹a videl nebo otvorené, a že sostupuje na neho jakási nádoba jako veliký obrus, uviazaný za štyri rohy a spúšťajúci sa na zem,

¹²in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.

¹²v ktorom boly všelijaké štvornohé zvieratá zemské i divá zver i zemeplazy i nebeské vtáctvo:

¹³A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”

¹³A prehovoril k nemu hlas: Vstaň, Petre, bi a jedz!

¹⁴But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

¹⁴A Peter povedal: nijakým činom, Pane, lebo som nikdy nejedol ničoho obecného alebo nečistého.

¹⁵A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”

¹⁵A hlas mu zase povedal po druhé: Toho, čo Bôh očistil, ty nemaj za nečisté!

¹⁶This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.

¹⁶A to sa stalo po tri razy, a nádoba bola zase hneď vzatá hore do neba.

¹⁷Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,

¹⁷A kým bol Peter sám v sebe v rozpakoch a rozmýšľal, čo má znamenať videnie, ktoré videl, tu hľa, mužovia, poslaní od Kornelia, dopýtajúc sa na dom Šimona zastáli pri bráne.

¹⁸and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.

¹⁸A zavolali a pýtali sa, či tam pohostíni Šimon, s prímenom Peter?

¹⁹While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three Reading from TR and NU. MT omits “three” men seek you.

¹⁹A keď rozmýšľal Peter o videní, povedal mu Duch: Hľa, traja mužovia ťa hľadajú.

²⁰But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

²⁰Ale vstaň, sídi a iď s nimi a nič nepochybuj, pretože som ich ja poslal.

²¹Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”

²¹Keď potom sišiel Peter za mužmi, ktorí boli poslaní k nemu od Kornelia, povedal: Hľa, ja som ten, ktorého hľadáte. Jaká je to príčina, pre ktorú ste prišli?

²²They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”

²²A oni povedali: Stotník Kornelius, muž, spravedlivý a bohabojný a ktorému dáva celý židovský národ dobré svedoctvo, dostal vo videní rozkaz od svätého anjela, aby ťa povolal do svojho domu a počul slová od teba.

²³So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.

²³Vtedy ich zavolal do vnútra a pohostil. A na druhý deň vstal Peter a vyšiel s nimi, a išli s ním aj niektorí z bratov z Joppy.

²⁴On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.

²⁴A druhého dňa vošli do Cezáree, a Kornelius ich očakával, keď bol svolal k sebe svojich príbuzných a blízkych priateľov.

²⁵When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.

²⁵A keď už bol vošiel Peter, a keď sa s ním stretol Kornelius, Kornelius padol k jeho nohám a klaňal sa.

²⁶But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”

²⁶Ale Peter ho pozdvihol a povedal: Vstaň, veď i ja sám som človek.

²⁷As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.

²⁷A shovárajúc sa s ním vošiel dnu a našiel mnohých, ktorí sa boli sišli.

²⁸He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.

²⁸A povedal im: Vy viete, jako neslušné je človeku Židovi pripojiť sa alebo pristúpiť k človekovi z iného národa. Ale mne ukázal Bôh, aby som nehovoril o niktorom človekovi, že je obecný alebo nečistý.

²⁹Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”

²⁹Preto som aj súc povolaný prišiel bez odporu. A tak sa pýtam, pre ktorú príčinu ste poslali pre mňa?

³⁰Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, 3:00 P. M. I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

³⁰A Kornelius povedal: Pred štyrmi dňami som sa postil až do tejto hodiny a v deviatu hodinu som sa modlil vo svojom dome. A tu hľa, razom sa postavil predo mnou muž vo skvelom rúchu bielom

³¹and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.

³¹a povedal: Kornelius, tvoja modlitba je vyslyšaná, a tvoje almužny sa spomenuly pred Bohom.

³²Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’

³²Pošli tedy do Joppy a povolaj Šimona, ktorý má prímeno Peter; býva v dome koželuha Šimona, pri mori, ktorý, keď prijde, rozpovie ti všetko.

³³Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”

³³nuž tak som naskutku poslal k tebe, a ty si dobre urobil, že si prišiel. A tak teraz sme tu my všetci pred tvárou Božou, aby sme počuli všetko, čo ti je nariadené od Pána.

³⁴Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;

³⁴Vtedy otvoril Peter ústa a povedal: V pravde poznávam, že Bôh nehľadí na osobu,

³⁵but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

³⁵ale že v každom národe ten, kto sa ho bojí a činí spravedlivosť, je príjemný jemu.

³⁶The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—

³⁶Slovo, ktoré poslal Bôh synom Izraelovým zvestujúc pokoj skrze Ježiša Krista - a on je Pánom všetkého -,

³⁷you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

³⁷vy viete o tom, čo sa dialo po celom Judsku počnúc od Galilee po krste, ktorý hlásal Ján,

³⁸even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

³⁸o Ježišovi z Nazareta, jako ho pomazal Bôh Svätým Duchom a mocou, ktorý prešiel zem dobre činiac a uzdravujúc všetkých, ktorí boli premožení od diabla a držaní v jeho moci, pretože bol s ním Bôh.

³⁹We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also TR omits “also” killed, hanging him on a tree.

³⁹A my sme svedkami všetkého, čo činil ako v krajine Židov, tak i v Jeruzaleme, ktorého i zabili povesiac ho na drevo.

⁴⁰God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,

⁴⁰Toho Bôh vzkriesil tretieho dňa a dal mu, aby sa zjavil,

⁴¹not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

⁴¹nie všetkému ľudu, ale svedkom, vopred vyvoleným od Boha, nám, ktorí sme s ním jedli a pili po jeho vstaní z mŕtvych.

⁴²He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.

⁴²A prikázal nám, aby sme hlásali ľudu a dôrazne svedčili, že on je tým od Boha určeným sudcom živých aj mŕtvych.

⁴³All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”

⁴³Jemu vydávajú svedoctvo všetci proroci, že odpustenie hriechov dostane skrze jeho meno každý, kto verí v neho.

⁴⁴While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

⁴⁴A kým Peter ešte hovoril tieto slová, sostúpil Svätý Duch na všetkých, ktorí počúvali slovo.

⁴⁵They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.

⁴⁵Vtedy užasli všetci veriaci z obriezky, ktorí boli prišli s Petrom, že i na pohanov je vyliaty dar Svätého Ducha;

⁴⁶For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

⁴⁶lebo ich počuli hovoriť jazykmi a velebiť Boha. Vtedy odpovedal Peter:

⁴⁷“Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized?”

⁴⁷Či potom môže niekto zabrániť vode, aby títo neboli pokrstení, ktorí prijali Svätého Ducha jako aj my?

⁴⁸He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.

⁴⁸A rozkázal ich pokrstiť v mene Pána Ježiša Krista. Vtedy ho prosili, žeby zostal u nich niekoľko dní.
