¹So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.

¹A tak prišiel kráľ i Háman na hostinu, jesť a piť u kráľovnej Esteri.

²The king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition, queen Esther? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”

²A kráľ povedal Esteri aj druhého dňa, keď sa pilo víno: Jaká je tvoja žiadosť, kráľovná Ester? A dá sa ti. A jaká je tvoja prosba? Čo by bolo až do polovice kráľovstva, učiní sa.

³Then Esther the queen answered, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.

³Na to odpovedala kráľovná Ester a riekla: Jestli som našla milosť v tvojich očiach, ó, kráľu, a jestli sa to vidí kráľovi za dobré, nech mi je daný môj život na moju žiadosť a môj národ na moju prosbu.

⁴For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondservants and bondmaids, I would have held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king’s loss.”

⁴Lebo sme predaní, ja i môj národ, aby sme boli vyhladení, povraždení a vyhubení. A keby sme aspoň predaní boli za sluhov a za dievky, mlčala by som, hoci by protivník nemohol nahradiť škody, ktorá by sa tým stala kráľovi.

⁵Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen, “Who is he, and where is he who dared presume in his heart to do so?”

⁵Vtedy povedal kráľ Ahasver a riekol kráľovnej Esteri: A kto je to, a kde je ten, ktorého naplnilo jeho srdce takou zlobou, aby vykonal takú vec?

⁶Esther said, “An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman!” Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

⁶A Ester povedala: Človek protivník a nepriateľ, tento zlostný Háman. A Háman sa predesil pred kráľom a pred kráľovnou.

⁷The king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden. Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.

⁷A kráľ vstal vo svojej prchlivosti od hostiny pri víne a vyšiel do zahrady paláca; ale Háman zostal stáť, aby prosil kráľovnú Ester za svoj život, lebo videl, že mu je zlé usúdené od kráľa.

⁸Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

⁸Keď sa potom navrátil kráľ zo zahrady paláca do domu hostiny pri víne, ležal Háman zvalený na posteli, na ktorej bola Ester. A kráľ povedal: Či azda ešte i znásilniť kráľovnú u mňa v dome? A sotva vyšlo to slovo z úst kráľových, zakryli tvár Hámanovu.

⁹Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king said, “Behold, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “Hang him on it!”

⁹A Charbona, jeden z komorníkov, ktorí stáli pred kráľom, povedal: Hľa, je tu aj šibenica, ktorú pripravil Háman Mardocheovi, ktorý hovoril dobré o kráľovi; stojí v dome Hámanovom, vysoká päťdesiat lakťov. A kráľ povedal: Obeste ho na nej!

¹⁰So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified.

¹⁰A tak obesili Hámana na šibenici, ktorú bol prihotovil Mardocheovi. A prchlivosť kráľova sa upokojila.
