¹In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹Siedmeho mesiaca, dvadsiateho a prvého dňa toho mesiaca stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo skrze proroka Haggea povediac:

²“Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

²Nože povedz Zorobábelovi, synovi Šealtielovmu, vojvodovi Júdovmu, a Jozuovi, synovi Jehocadákovmu, najväčšiemu kňazovi, a ostatku ľudu a riekni:

³‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

³Kto je medzi vami pozostalý, kto videl tento dom v jeho prvej sláve? A čo jaký ho vidíte teraz? Či nie je proti tamtomu jako nič vo vašich očiach?

⁴Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁴Avšak teraz buď silný, Zorobábelu, hovorí Hospodin, a buď silný Jozua, synu Jehocadákov, najväčší kňazu, a buď silný, všetok ľud zeme, hovorí Hospodin, a robte, lebo ja som s vami, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov,

⁵This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

⁵so slovom, ktoré som smluvil s vami, keď ste išli z Egypta, a môj Duch tiež stojí vo vašom strede; nebojte sa!

⁶For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

⁶Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Ešte raz, po krátkom čase zatrasiem nebom i zemou, morom i suchom.

⁷and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

⁷A zatrasiem všetkými národami, a prijde žiadúcne všetkých národov, a naplním tento dom slávou, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁸Moje je striebro a moje zlato, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

⁹‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place will I give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

⁹Väčšia bude sláva tohoto posledného domu ako tamtoho prvého, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, a na tomto mieste dám pokoj, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

¹⁰In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹⁰Dvadsiateho a štvrtého dňa, deviateho mesiaca, druhého roku Dária stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo skrze proroka Haggea povediac:

¹¹“Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

¹¹Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Nože sa opýtaj kňazov na zákon a povedz:

¹²‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

¹²Keby niekto niesol posviatne mäso v krýdle svojho rúcha a dotknul by sa svojím krýdlom chleba alebo váre alebo vína alebo oleja alebo jekéhokoľvek jedla, či bude sväté? A kňazi odpovedali a riekli: Nie.

¹³Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

¹³Vtedy povedal Haggeus: Keby sa niekto nečistý od mŕtveho tela dotknul ktorejkoľvek z týchto vecí, či bude nečisté? A kňazi odpovedali a riekli: Bude nečisté.

¹⁴Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

¹⁴Na to odpovedal Haggeus a riekol: Tak i tento ľud a tak i tento národ pred mojou tvárou, hovorí Hospodin, a tak i každé dielo ich rúk i to, čo tam obetujú, je nečisté.

¹⁵Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

¹⁵A tak teraz nože priložte svoje srdce a vidzte od tohoto dňa a vyše, keď ešte nebol priložený kameň ku kameňu na chráme Hospodinovom.

¹⁶Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

¹⁶Po celý čas, čo bolo tak, že keď prišiel niekto ku hromade dvadsiatich, bolo desať; prišiel ku prešu nabrať päťdesiat z čereňa, a bolo dvadsať.

¹⁷I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

¹⁷Bil som vás suchom, rudou a kamencom, každé dielo vašich rúk, ale neobrátili ste sa ku mne, hovorí Hospodin.

¹⁸‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

¹⁸Nože priložte svoje srdce od tohoto dňa a vyše, od dvadsiateho a štvrtého dňa deviateho mesiaca k času od toho dňa, ktorého bol založený chrám Hospodinov, priložte svoje srdce!

¹⁹Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t brought forth. From this day will I bless you.’”

¹⁹Či je ešte semeno v obilnici? Ale od viniča až po fík a granát a olivový strom nič nedonášalo úrody. Od tohoto dňa požehnám.

²⁰The Word of Yahweh came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

²⁰A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo po druhé k Haggeovi dvadsiateho a štvrtého dňa toho mesiaca povediac:

²¹“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

²¹Povedz Zorobábelovi, vojvodovi Júdovmu, a riekni: Ja zatrasiem nebom i zemou

²²I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

²²a prevrátim trón kráľovstiev a zahladím silu kráľovstiev národov a prevrátim voz i tých, ktorí sa vozia na ňom, a sostúpia kone aj ich jazdci, každý skolený mečom svojho brata.

²³In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, will I take you, Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you as a signet, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

²³Toho dňa, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, vezmem ťa, Zorobábelu, synu Šealtielov, môj služobníku, hovorí Hospodin, a učiním ťa ako pečatný prsteň, lebo teba som si vyvolil, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.
