¹Of the children of Ammon. Thus says Yahweh: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people well in its cities?

¹Čo do synov Ammonových. Takto hovorí Hospodin: Či nemá Izrael synov? Či azda nemá dediča? Prečo potom vládne ich Moloch dedične Gádom? A prečo býva jeho ľud v jeho mestách?

²Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel possess those who possessed him, says Yahweh.

²Preto hľa, idú dni, hovorí Hospodin, že spôsobím to, aby bolo počuť proti Rabbe synov Ammonových surmu vojny, a bude z nej pustý kopec, a jej dcéry, mestá, budú vypálené ohňom, a Izrael bude dedične vládnuť tými, ktorí ním vládli, hovorí Hospodin.

³Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste; cry, you daughters of Rabbah, clothe yourself in sackcloth: lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

³Kvíľ, ó, Chešbone, lebo spustošené bude Aj! Kričte, dcéry Rabby, opášte si smútočné vrece, nariekajte a behajte sem-tam medzi plotami; lebo ich Moloch pojde do zajatia, jeho kňazi i jeho kniežatá spolu.

⁴Why do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? who trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come to me?

⁴Čo sa chváliš údoliami? Tvoje údolie sa rozplynie, ty odvrátená dcéro spurná, ktorá sa nadeješ na svoje poklady a hovoríš: Kto prijde sem ku mne!

⁵Behold, I will bring a fear on you, says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, from all who are around you; and you shall be driven out every man right forth, and there shall be none to gather together the fugitives.

⁵Hľa, uvediem na teba strach, hovorí Pán Hospodin Zástupov, od všetkých vôkol teba, a budete hnaní každý priamo pred seba, a nebude nikoho, kto by shromaždil potulujúcich sa.

⁶But afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, says Yahweh.

⁶Ale potom navrátim zajatie synov Ammonových, hovorí Hospodin.

⁷Of Edom. Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

⁷Čo do Edoma. Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Či už niet múdrosti v Témane? Či zahynula rada od rozumných? Či sa ich múdrosť zosmradila a pokazila?

⁸Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him, the time that I shall visit him.

⁸Utekajte, obráťte sa! Hlboko sadnú obyvatelia Dedána! Lebo nešťastie Ezavovo uvediem na neho; bude to čas, v ktorom ho navštívim.

⁹If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, wouldn’t they destroy until they had enough?

⁹Keď ti prijdú oberači, azda nezanechajú paberkov? ak zlodeji vnoci, zkazia iba toľko, čo im je dosť.

¹⁰But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is destroyed, and his brothers, and his neighbors; and he is no more.

¹⁰Ale ja obnažím Ezava, odkryjem jeho tajnosti, a nebude sa môcť ukryť. Spustošené bude jeho semä, i jeho bratia i jeho súsedia, a nebude ho, kto by povedal:

¹¹Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me.

¹¹Zanechaj svoje siroty, ja ich budem živiť, a tvoje vdovy nech sa nadejú na mňa.

¹²For thus says Yahweh: Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup shall certainly drink; and are you he who shall altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

¹²Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, tí, ktorí nepíjavajú kalicha, budú istotne piť, a hojne, a ty, ty by si mal byť bez trestu? Nebudeš bez trestu, ale istotne budeš piť.

¹³For I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

¹³Lebo na seba prisahám, hovorí Hospodin, že pustinou, potupou, púšťou a kliatbou bude mesto Bocra, a všetky jeho mestá budú večnou púšťou.

¹⁴I have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

¹⁴Počul som zvesť od Hospodina, a posol je poslaný k národom: Shromaždite sa a prijdite proti nemu! A vstaňte do boja!

¹⁵For, behold, I have made you small among the nations, and despised among men.

¹⁵Lebo hľa, dal som ťa za malého medzi národami, opovrženého medzi ľuďmi.

¹⁶As for your terror, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill: though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says Yahweh.

¹⁶To, že si hrozný? Oklamala ťa pýcha tvojho srdca, ty, ktorý bývaš v rozsadlinách skaly, ktorý držíš výšu brehu. Keby si si vysoko spravil svoje hniezdo jako orol, aj odtiaľ ťa strhnem, hovorí Hospodin.

¹⁷Edom shall become an astonishment: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.

¹⁷A tak bude Edom pustinou. Každý, kto pojde popri ňom, zdesí sa a zhíkne nad všetkými jeho údermi.

¹⁸As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Yahweh, no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

¹⁸A bude to jako podvrátenie Sodomy a Gomory a jej súsedov, hovorí Hospodin: nikto tam nebude bývať, ani v ňom nebude pohostíniť syn človeka.

¹⁹Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoever is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd who will stand before me?

¹⁹Hľa, pojde hore jako lev od dôstojnosti Jordána, hore proti pevnému bydlisku. Ale ho náhle pohnem na útek s neho a toho, kto je vyvolený, ustanovím nad ním. Lebo kto je mne rovný? A kto mi stanoví deň, pravotiť sa so mnou? Alebo kde kto je ten pastier, ktorý by sa postavil predo mnou?

²⁰Therefore hear the counsel of Yahweh, that he has taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

²⁰Preto počujte radu Hospodinovu, ktorú uradil proti Edomovi, a jeho myšlienky, ktoré si umyslel proti obyvateľom Témana: Istotne ich rozvláčia maličkí stáda; istotne spolu s nimi spustošia aj ich bydlisko.

²¹The earth trembles at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise which is heard in the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds .

²¹Od hrmotu ich pádu zatrasie sa zem. Krik! Jeho hlas bude sa čuť pri Červenom mori.

²²Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah: and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

²²Hľa, bude vystupovať hore jako orol a poletí, roztiahne svoje krýdla nad Bocrou. A srdce udatných mužov Edomových bude toho dňa jako srdce ženy, sovrenej úzkosťami porodu.

²³Of Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil news, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it can’t be quiet.

²³Čo do Damašku. Chamat sa bude hanbiť aj Arpad, lebo počujú zlú zvesť; rozplynú sa; na mori strach; nebude sa môcť upokojiť.

²⁴Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.

²⁴Damašek zmalátnie, obráti sa na útek, hrôza ho pochytí, úzkosť a bolesti ho zachvátia ako ženu, ktorá ide porodiť.

²⁵How is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?

²⁵Ako by nemalo byť opustené mesto chlúby, mesto mojej radosti?!

²⁶Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, says Yahweh of Armies.

²⁶Preto padnú jeho mládenci na jeho uliciach a všetci bojovní mužovia umĺknu toho dňa, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

²⁷I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.

²⁷A zapálim oheň na múre Damašku, ktorý požerie paláce Benhadadove.

²⁸Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck. Thus says Yahweh: Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.

²⁸Čo do Kédara a čo do kráľovstiev Chácora, ktoré potom zbil Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ. Takto hovorí Hospodin: Vstaňte, iďte hore proti Kédarovi a spustošte synov východu!

²⁹Their tents and their flocks shall they take; they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, Terror on every side!

²⁹Vezmú ich stány aj ich stádo; ich čalúny a všetko ich náradie aj ich veľblúdov poberú sebe a budú volať na nich: Strach všade naokolo!

³⁰Flee, wander far off, dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor, says Yahweh; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.

³⁰Utekajte, bežte, čo môžete! Hlboko sadnú obyvatelia Chácora! hovorí Hospodin. Lebo Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ, uradil proti vám radu, a umyslel proti nim zhubnú myšlienku.

³¹Arise, go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care, says Yahweh; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone.

³¹Vstaňte, iďte hore proti národu, ktorý žije bez starostí a v pokoji, ktorý býva bezpečne! hovorí Hospodin. Nemá vrát ani závory; bývajú samotní.

³²Their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a spoil: and I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, says Yahweh.

³²A tak budú ich veľblúdi za lúpež a množstvo ich dobytka za korisť, a rozptýlim ich vo všetky vetry, obrezaných po strane, a zo všetkých strán uvediem na nich ich zkazu, hovorí Hospodin.

³³Hazor shall be a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

³³A Chácor bude príbytkom šakalov, desnou pustinou až na veky. Nikto tam nebude bývať, ani v ňom nebude pohostíniť syn človeka.

³⁴The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

³⁴Slovo Hospodinovo, ktoré sa stalo k prorokovi Jeremiášovi proti Élamovi na počiatku kraľovania Cedekiáša, judského kráľa, povediac:

³⁵Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

³⁵Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Hľa, polámem lučište Élamovo, prvotinu ich sily.

³⁶On Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

³⁶A dovediem proti Élamovi štyri vetry od štyroch koncov neba a rozptýlim ich vo všetky tie vetry, takže nebude národa, kam by neprišiel niekto zo zahnaných Élamových.

³⁷I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life; and I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger, says Yahweh; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them;

³⁷A predesím Élamitov pred ich nepriateľmi a pred tými, ktorí hľadajú ich dušu, a uvediem na nich zlé, páľu svojeho hnevu, hovorí Hospodin. A pošlem za nimi meč a tak ich budem hubiť, dokiaľ im neučiním konca.

³⁸and I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there king and princes, says Yahweh.

³⁸A postavím svoj trón v Élame a vyhubím odtiaľ kráľa i kniežatá, hovorí Hospodin.

³⁹But it shall happen in the latter days, that I will bring back the captivity of Elam, says Yahweh.

³⁹Ale stane sa v posledných dňoch, že navrátim zajatých Élamových, hovorí Hospodin.
