1The child Samuel ministered to Yahweh before Eli. The word of Yahweh was precious in those days; there was no frequent vision.
1Deček Samuel pa je služil GOSPODU pred Elijem. In beseda GOSPODOVA je bila redka v tistih dneh, prikazen se ni ponavljala.
2It happened at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see),
2In zgodi se v tistem času, ko je Eli ležal na svojem mestu – oči njegove pa so bile že slabotne, da ni videl –
3and the lamp of God hadn’t yet gone out, and Samuel had laid down in Yahweh’s temple, where the ark of God was;
3in svetilnica Božja ni bila še ugasnjena, in Samuel je ležal ob svetišču GOSPODOVEM, kjer je bila skrinja Božja,
4that Yahweh called Samuel; and he said, “Here I am.”
4da pokliče GOSPOD Samuela; in ta reče: Tu sem!
5He ran to Eli, and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” He said, “I didn’t call; lie down again.” He went and lay down.
5In teče k Eliju in reče: Tu sem, ker si me klical. On veli: Nisem klical; vrni se in spi! In je šel in legel.
6Yahweh called yet again, “Samuel!” Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” He answered, “I didn’t call, my son; lie down again.”
6In GOSPOD zopet kliče: Samuel! In Samuel vstane ter pride k Eliju in reče: Tu sem, ker si me klical. Ta veli: Nisem klical, sin moj, vrni se in spi!
7Now Samuel didn’t yet know Yahweh, neither was the word of Yahweh yet revealed to him.
7Samuel pa še ni poznal GOSPODA, in beseda GOSPODOVA mu še ni bila razodeta.
8Yahweh called Samuel again the third time. He arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” Eli perceived that Yahweh had called the child.
8In GOSPOD zopet kliče v tretje: Samuel! In vstane ter pride k Eliju in reče: Tu sem, ker si me klical. Tedaj spozna Eli, da je GOSPOD klical dečka.
9Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Yahweh; for your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
9Zato veli Eli Samuelu: Pojdi in spi! in če te še pokliče, reci: Govóri, GOSPOD, ker posluša hlapec tvoj. In Samuel odide in leže na svoje mesto.
10Yahweh came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”
10In GOSPOD pride ter stoji in kliče kakor poprej: Samuel, Samuel! In Samuel reče: Govóri, ker posluša hlapec tvoj.
11Yahweh said to Samuel, “Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.
11In GOSPOD reče Samuelu: Glej, jaz storim stvar v Izraelu, da bo zvenelo v obeh ušesih vsakemu, kdor bo slišal o njej.
12In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
12Tisti dan uresničim proti Eliju vse, kar sem govoril o hiši njegovi; začnem to in dovršim.
13For I have told him that I will judge his house forever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons brought a curse on themselves, and he didn’t restrain them.
13Kajti povedal mu sem, da bom sodil hišo njegovo vekomaj zavoljo krivice, ki je vedel zanjo, da si spravljata sinova njegova prokletstvo nadse, pa jima ni zabranil.
14Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be removed with sacrifice nor offering forever.”
14In zato sem prisegel hiši Elijevi: Krivica hiše Elijeve se ne bo poravnala z žgalnimi in jedilnimi žrtvami na vekomaj!
15Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh. Samuel feared to show Eli the vision.
15In Samuel je ležal do jutra in je odprl vrata hiše GOSPODOVE. Bal se pa je povedati prikazen Eliju.
16Then Eli called Samuel, and said, “Samuel, my son!” He said, “Here I am.”
16Tedaj pokliče Eli Samuela, rekoč: Samuel, sin moj! On reče: Glej, tu sem!
17He said, “What is the thing that he has spoken to you? Please don’t hide it from me. God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that he spoke to you.”
17In vpraša: Kaj je beseda, ki ti jo je govoril? Prosim, ne zamolči mi ničesar! Bog ti stóri to in ono, ako mi besede zamolčiš iz vsega, kar ti je govoril.
18Samuel told him every bit, and hid nothing from him. He said, “It is Yahweh. Let him do what seems good to him.”
18In Samuel mu pove vse do besede, ničesar mu ne zataji. Eli pa reče: GOSPOD je; naj stori, kar se mu vidi prav!
19Samuel grew, and Yahweh was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground.
19A Samuel je napredoval, in GOSPOD je bil ž njim in ni pustil, da pade na zemljo ne ena besed njegovih.
20All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Yahweh.
20In ves Izrael od Dana do Bersebe je spoznal, da je Samuel potrjen, da bodi prorok GOSPODOV.In GOSPOD se je zopet prikazoval v Silu; kajti GOSPOD se je razodeval Samuelu v Silu po besedi GOSPODOVI.
21Yahweh appeared again in Shiloh; for Yahweh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of Yahweh.
