¹Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he didn’t do that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, like David his father;

⁹But a prophet of Yahweh was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, “Behold, because Yahweh, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.

⁹Bil je pa tam prorok GOSPODOV, po imenu Oded; ta pride naproti vojski, ki je prihajala v Samarijo, in jim reče: Glejte, ker se je GOSPOD, očetov vaših Bog, razsrdil nad Judovimi, jih vam je dal v roko, in vi ste jih tako grozovito pomorili, da sega do neba.

¹⁰Now you purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondservants and bondmaids for yourselves. Aren’t there even with you trespasses of your own against Yahweh your God?

¹⁰In sedaj še mislite teptati otroke Judove in jeruzalemske, da vam bodo sužnji in sužnice! Niste li pa tudi sami dosti krivi proti GOSPODU, Bogu svojemu?

¹¹Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that you have taken captive from your brothers; for the fierce wrath of Yahweh is on you.”

¹¹Zato me sedaj poslušajte in pošljite nazaj ujetnike, ki ste jih ujeli iz bratov svojih; zakaj srd GOSPODOV je vzplamtel zoper vas.

Then they returned to Samaria.

²³For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which struck him; and he said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, so I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

²³Zakaj daroval je bogovom Damaščanov, ki so ga porazili, in je dejal: Ker jim bogovi kraljev asirskih pomagajo, jim hočem darovati, da mi tudi pomagajo. A bili so v pogubo njemu in vsemu Izraelu.

²⁴Ahaz gathered together the vessels of God’s house, and cut in pieces the vessels of God’s house, and shut up the doors of the house of Yahweh; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

²⁴In Ahaz je zbral posode hiše Božje in je razbil posode hiše Božje; in zaprl je duri v hiši GOSPODOVI ter si je napravil oltarje po vseh kotih v Jeruzalemu.

²⁵In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

²⁵In v vsakem posameznem mestu Judovem je naredil višave, da bi se kadilo drugim bogovom, in dražil v jezo GOSPODA, Boga očetov svojih.

²⁶Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

²⁶Druge zgodbe njegove pa in vse poti njegove, prve in poslednje, glej, zapisane so v knjigi kraljev Judovih in Izraelovih.In legel je Ahaz k očetom svojim, in pokopali so ga v mestu, v Jeruzalemu, kajti niso ga prinesli v grobe kraljev Izraelovih. ²⁷Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they didn’t bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
