¹It happened, when the king lived in his house, and Yahweh had given him rest from all his enemies all around,

¹In zgodi se, ko je prebival kralj v hiši svoji in mu je GOSPOD dal pokoj od vseh sovražnikov njegovih okoli,

²that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.”

²da reče kralj Natanu proroku: Poglej zdaj, jaz stanujem v cedrovi hiši, skrinja Božja pa prebiva pod preprogami.

³Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart; for Yahweh is with you.”

³In Natan veli kralju: Pojdi, stóri vse, kar ti je v srcu, zakaj GOSPOD je s teboj.

⁴It happened the same night, that the word of Yahweh came to Nathan, saying,

⁴A še to noč pride beseda GOSPODOVA k Natanu, govoreč:

⁵“Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?

⁵Pojdi in reci hlapcu mojemu, Davidu: Tako pravi GOSPOD: Ali mi boš ti zgradil hišo, da prebivam v njej?

⁶For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have moved around in a tent and in a tabernacle.

⁶Saj nisem prebival v hiši od dne, ko sem odpeljal sinove Izraelove iz Egipta, do današnjega dne, temuč sem hodil ž njimi v šatoru in prebivališču.

⁷In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I say a word to any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’

⁷Kamorkoli sem šel z vsemi sinovi Izraelovimi, sem li kdaj besedo govoril s katerim rodov Izraelovih, ki sem jim zapovedal pasti ljudstvo moje, Izraela, rekoč: Zakaj mi niste zgradili cedrove hiše?

⁸Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, ‘Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people, over Israel.

⁸Tako torej véli hlapcu mojemu, Davidu: Tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami: Jaz sem te vzel s pašnikov, ko si hodil za ovcami, da bodeš vojvoda ljudstvu mojemu, Izraelu;

⁹I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

⁹in sem bil s teboj, kamorkoli si šel, in sem zatrl vse sovražnike tvoje pred teboj in storil ti veliko ime, kakor ime velikašev, ki so na zemlji.

¹⁰I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,

¹⁰In hočem pripraviti mesto ljudstvu svojemu in jih posaditi, da bodo prebivali na svojem in se več ne premikali, da jih tudi ne bodo stiskali več sinovi krivice kakor poprej

¹¹and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover Yahweh tells you that Yahweh will make you a house.

¹¹in odkar sem zapovedal sodnikom, da naj bodo nad ljudstvom mojim, Izraelom. In dal sem ti pokoj pred vsemi sovražniki tvojimi. Vrhutega ti GOSPOD oznanja, da GOSPOD zgradi hišo tebi.

¹²When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹²Ko se ti dopolnijo dnevi in boš ležal z očeti svojimi, hočem za tabo obuditi seme tvoje, ki pride iz osrčja tvojega, in utrditi kraljestvo njegovo.

¹³He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

¹³On zgradi hišo imenu mojemu, in jaz utrdim kraljestva njegovega prestol na veke.

¹⁴I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;

¹⁴Jaz mu bodem za očeta, in on mi bode za sina. Kadar stori kaj krivega, ga bom pokoril s človeško šibo in kaznoval z udarci človečjih otrok.

¹⁵but my loving kindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.

¹⁵Ali milost moja ne odstopi od njega, kakor sem jo odtegnil Savlu, ki sem ga odpravil izpred tebe.

¹⁶Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”’”

¹⁶Ampak hiša tvoja in kraljestvo tvoje bode stanovitno pred teboj vekomaj, prestol tvoj bodi utrjen na veke.

¹⁷According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

¹⁷Po vseh teh besedah in po vsej tej prikazni je točno govoril Natan Davidu.

¹⁸Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Lord The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” Yahweh, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?

¹⁸Tedaj stopi David noter in sede pred GOSPODA in reče: Kdo sem jaz, o Gospod Jehova, in kaj je hiša moja, da si me privedel tako daleč?

¹⁹This was yet a small thing in your eyes, Lord Yahweh; but you have spoken also of your servant’s house for a great while to come; and this after the way of men, Lord Yahweh!

¹⁹In to se je še premalo videlo tvojim očem, o Gospod Jehova, kajti govoril si tudi o hlapca svojega hiši za daljno prihodnost, in to po načinu človeka, Gospod Jehova!

²⁰What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Lord Yahweh.

²⁰In kaj more David še govoriti tebi? Saj poznaš hlapca svojega, o Gospod Jehova!

²¹For your word’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have worked all this greatness, to make your servant know it.

²¹Zaradi besede svoje in po srcu svojem si storil vso to velikost, oznanivši jo hlapcu svojemu.

²²Therefore you are great, Yahweh God. For there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

²²Zategadelj si velik, o Jehova Bog! kajti ni ga tebi enakega, tudi ni Boga razen tebe, po vsem tem, kar smo slišali z ušesi svojimi.

²³What one nation in the earth is like your people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, and to make himself a name, and to do great things for you, and awesome things for your land, before your people, whom you redeem to yourself out of Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

²³In je li en narod na zemlji podoben ljudstvu tvojemu, Izraelu, ki je zaradi njega šel Bog, da ga odkupi sebi v ljudstvo ter si napravi veliko ime in stori take velike in strašne reči zanj in za deželo svojo, vpričo ljudstva svojega, ki si ga sebi odkupil iz Egipta, izpod oblasti narodov in njih bogov?

²⁴You established for yourself your people Israel to be a people to you forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.

²⁴In pripravil si sebi ljudstvo svoje, Izraela, da ti bodi ljudstvo na veke, ti pa, Jehova, si postal njih Bog!

²⁵Now, Yahweh God, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken.

²⁵Sedaj pa, o Jehova Bog, potrdi na vekomaj besedo, ki si jo govoril za hlapca svojega in za hišo njegovo, in stori, kakor si govoril.

²⁶Let your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is God over Israel; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.’

²⁶Da naj se poveličuje ime tvoje vekomaj in se govori: GOSPOD nad vojskami je Bog nad Izraelom. In hiša hlapca tvojega Davida bodi trdna pred teboj!

²⁷For you, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

²⁷Zakaj ti, GOSPOD nad vojskami, Bog Izraelov, si razodel ušesu hlapca svojega, rekoč: Hišo ti hočem zgraditi. Zato se je hlapec tvoj osrčil, da moli to molitev tebi.

²⁸“Now, O Lord Yahweh, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant.

²⁸In sedaj, o Gospod Jehova, ti si Bog, in besede tvoje so resnica, in ti si govoril hlapcu svojemu to predobro obljubo:sedaj torej rači blagosloviti hlapca svojega hišo, da ostane pred teboj vekomaj, zakaj ti, o Gospod Jehova, si to obljubil. Bodi torej z blagoslovom tvojim blagoslovljena tvojega hlapca hiša vekomaj!

²⁹Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing.”

²⁹sedaj torej rači blagosloviti hlapca svojega hišo, da ostane pred teboj vekomaj, zakaj ti, o Gospod Jehova, si to obljubil. Bodi torej z blagoslovom tvojim blagoslovljena tvojega hlapca hiša vekomaj!
