1Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits, and its breadth six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

2Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
2Nato je Nebukadnezar kralj poslal sklicat namestnike, deželne glavarje in oblastnike, višje sodnike, blagajnike, svetovalce, pravoznance in vse višje uradnike v pokrajinah, da pridejo k posvečevanju podobe, ki jo je bil postavil Nebukadnezar kralj.
3Then the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
3Zbero se torej namestniki, deželni glavarji in oblastniki, višji sodniki, blagajniki, svetovalci, pravoznanci in vsi višji uradniki v pokrajinah k posvečevanju podobe, ki jo je postavil Nebukadnezar kralj; in stali so pred podobo, ki jo je postavil Nebukadnezar.
4Then the herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages,

5that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up;

6and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
6Kdor pa ne pade in ne moli, zdajci bo vržen v gorečo, razbeljeno peč.
7Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
7Zatorej so padla, brž ko so slišali glas roga, piščali, citer, sambuke, strun in vsaktere godbe, vsa ljudstva, narodi in jeziki, poklanjajoč se podobi zlati, ki jo je postavil Nebukadnezar kralj.
8Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and brought accusation against the Jews.

9They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, O king, live for ever.

10You, O king, have made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image;

11and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
11in kdor ne pade in ne moli, bodi vržen v gorečo, razbeljeno peč.
12There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not respected you. They don’t serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.
12So pa tu judovski možje, ki si jim poveril poslovodstvo pokrajine Babilonske: Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego; ti možje, o kralj, se ne menijo zate: tvojim bogovom ne služijo in podobe zlate, ki si jo postavil, ne molijo.
13Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
13Tedaj zapove Nebukadnezar, srdit in togoten, naj privedejo k njemu Sadraha, Mesaha in Abednega. In pripeljejo te može pred kralja.
14Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my god, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
14Nebukadnezar izpregovori ter jim reče: Je li z namenom, Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego, da ne služite mojim bogovom in ne molite podobe zlate, ki sem jo postavil?
15Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, well: but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands?
15Sedaj pa, ako ste pripravljeni, kadar zaslišite glas roga, piščali, citer, sambuke, strun, soglasnic in vsaktere godbe, da padete in molite podobo, ki sem jo napravil, dobro; ako pa je ne boste molili, zdajci boste vrženi v gorečo, razbeljeno peč. In kdo je tisti bog, ki vas otme iz roke moje?
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
16Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego odgovore in reko kralju: Nebukadnezar, ni nam treba tebi odgovarjati v tej reči.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
17Bodisi, da nas Bog naš, ki mu služimo, more oteti iz goreče, razbeljene peči – in on nas otme iz tvoje roke, o kralj!
18But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.
18bodisi da ne, znano bodi tebi, kralj, da ne bomo služili bogovom tvojim in podobe zlate, ki si jo postavil, ne bomo molili!
19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.
19Tedaj se Nebukadnezar napolni jeze in pogled njegovega obličja se izpremeni zoper Sadraha, Mesaha in Abednega. In izpregovori pa veli, naj razbelijo peč sedemkrat bolj nego sicer.
20He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
20In ukaže možem, najmočnejšim možem v vojski svoji, naj zvežejo Sadraha, Mesaha in Abednega ter jih vržejo v gorečo, razbeljeno peč.
21Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
21Zvežejo torej tiste može v njih spodnjih in vrhnjih suknjah in plaščih in v drugih njih oblačilih in jih vržejo v gorečo, razbeljeno peč.
22Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
22Vsled tega pa, ker je bilo kraljevo povelje naglo in peč nenavadno razgreta, je plamen umoril tiste može, ki so nesli gori Sadraha, Mesaha in Abednega.
23These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
23A ti trije možje, Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego, so padli zvezani v sredo goreče, razbeljene peči.
24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste: he spoke and said to his counselors, Didn’t we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered the king, True, O king.
24Tedaj se prestraši Nebukadnezar kralj, hitro vstane in izpregovori ter reče svetovalcem svojim: Nismo li vrgli treh mož zvezanih v ogenj? Odgovore in reko kralju: Res je, o kralj!
25He answered, Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are unharmed; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.
25Odgovori in reče: Glejte, vidim štiri može razvezane, hodeče posredi ognja, in ni jim nič zlega; in četrti je videti kakor sin bogov.
26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace: he spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out of the midst of the fire.
26Nato stopi Nebukadnezar pred isteje razbeljene peči, izpregovori in veli: Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego, Najvišjega Boga služabniki, pojdite ven in pridite sem! Tedaj pridejo Sadrah, Mesah in Abednego ven iz ognja.
27The satraps, the deputies, and the governors, and the king’s counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their pants changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.
27In namestniki, deželni glavarji in oblastniki in svetovalci kraljevi so se zbrali in so videli, da ni imel ogenj nobene moči do njih teles: lasje na njih glavah niso bili osmojeni, tudi njih spodnje suknje se niso nič izpremenile in smod ognja jih ni bil prešinil.
28Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
28Nebukadnezar izpregovori in reče: Hvaljen bodi Bog Sadrahov, Mesahov in Abednegov, ki je poslal angela svojega in otel služabnike svoje, ki so upali vanj in prestopili povelje kraljevo in žrtvovali telesa svoja, da ne bi služili nobenemu bogu in ga ne molili razen le svojega Boga.
29Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other god who is able to deliver after this sort.
29Zatorej bodi moja zapoved: V vsakem ljudstvu, narodu ali jeziku, kdor bi izrekel kaj pregrešnega zoper Boga Sadrahovega, Mesahovega in Abednegovega, bodi na kosce razsekan in hiša mu bodi izprevrnjena v gnojišče; zato ker ni drugega boga, ki more tako rešiti kakor ta.Nato je kralj povišal Sadraha, Mesaha in Abednega v pokrajini Babilonski.
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
