¹It happened, when all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how that Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we had passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

¹Ko so pa slišali vsi kralji Amorejcev, ki so bili na tej strani Jordana proti zahodu, in vsi kralji Kanaancev, ki so bivali ob morju, kako je posušil GOSPOD jordanske vode pred sinovi Izraelovimi, dokler niso prešli, jim je skopnelo srce in jim ni ostalo nič poguma, zaradi sinov Izraelovih.

²At that time, Yahweh said to Joshua, “Make flint knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.”

²Tisti čas veli GOSPOD Jozuetu: Naredi si kamenenih nožev, in obreži zopet sinove Izraelove vdrugič.

³Joshua made himself flint knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.

³In naredil si je Jozue kamenenih nožev in obrezal sinove Izraelove ob Hribu neobreze.

⁴This is the reason Joshua circumcised: all the people who came out of Egypt, who were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

⁴To pa je vzrok, zakaj jih je obrezal Jozue: vse ljudstvo, ki je šlo iz Egipta, kar jih je bilo moških, sposobnih za vojsko, so pomrli v puščavi po poti, ko so šli iz Egipta.

⁵For all the people who came out were circumcised; but all the people who were born in the wilderness by the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.

⁵In ljudstvo vse, ki je izšlo, je bilo obrezano; toda vse ljudstvo, kar se ga je rodilo v puščavi ob potovanju po odhodu iz Egipta, ni bilo obrezano.

⁶For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to the voice of Yahweh. Yahweh swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which Yahweh swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁶Zakaj sinovi Izraelovi so hodili štirideset let po puščavi, dokler ni poginil ves tisti narod, vojaški možje, ki so bili odšli iz Egipta, zato ker niso poslušali GOSPODOVEGA glasu; katerim je prisegel GOSPOD, da jim ne da videti dežele, ki je zanjo prisegel GOSPOD njih očetom, da nam jo da, deželo, v kateri teče mleko in med.

⁷Their children, whom he raised up in their place, were circumcised by Joshua; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.

⁷A njih otroke, ki jih je Gospod postavil na njih mesto, je obrezal Jozue; kajti bili so neobrezani, ker jih nihče ni obrezoval na poti.

⁸It happened, when they were done circumcising all the nation, that they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.

⁸In ko so končali obrezo vsega naroda, so ostali utaborjeni na svojem mestu, dokler niso ozdraveli.

⁹Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you.” Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, “Gilgal” sounds like the Hebrew for “roll.” to this day.

⁹In GOSPOD reče Jozuetu: Danes sem odvalil z vas sramoto Egipčanov; zato se je imenovalo tisto mesto Gilgal [T. j. odval.] do tega dne.

¹⁰The children of Israel encamped in Gilgal. They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.

¹⁰In ko so sinovi Izraelovi taborili v Gilgalu, so praznovali pasho štirinajsti dan meseca proti večeru, na poljanah Jerihovih.

¹¹They ate unleavened cakes and parched grain of the produce of the land on the next day after the Passover, in the same day.

¹¹In jedli so od starega žita te dežele drugi dan po pashi, opresne kruhe in opraženo zrnje v isti dan.

¹²The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel didn’t have manna any more; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

¹²In mana je preminila drugi dan, ko so jedli od žita tiste dežele, in Izraelovi sinovi niso več dobili mane, ampak jedli so od pridelkov Kanaanske dežele tisto leto.

¹³It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”

¹³Zgodi se pa, ko je bil Jozue pri Jerihu, da povzdigne oči in gleda, in glej, nasproti mu stoji mož s potegnjenim mečem v roki. In Jozue gre k njemu in mu reče: Si li ti naš ali naših sovražnikov?

¹⁴He said, “No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”

¹⁴On reče: Ne, temuč knez sem vojske GOSPODOVE; sedaj sem prišel. In Jozue pade z obličjem na tla in moli ter mu reče: Kaj pravi gospod moj svojemu hlapcu?In knez vojske GOSPODOVE veli Jozuetu: Sezuj obuvalo z nog svojih, zakaj mesto, ki stojiš na njem, je sveto. In Jozue stori tako.

¹⁵The prince of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, “Take your shoes off of your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.

¹⁵In knez vojske GOSPODOVE veli Jozuetu: Sezuj obuvalo z nog svojih, zakaj mesto, ki stojiš na njem, je sveto. In Jozue stori tako.
