2 Chronicles

36

1Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem.
1Ipapo vanhu venyika iyo vakatora Jehoahazi mwanakomana waJosiya, vakamuita mambo panzvimbo yababa vake paJerusaremu.
2Joahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
2Joahazi akatanga kubata ushe ava namakore makumi maviri namatatu, akabata ushe paJerusaremu mwedzi mitatu.
3The king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
3Mambo weEgipita akamubvisa paushe paJerusaremu, akaripisa nyika matarenda esirivha ane zana, netarenda rimwe rendarama.
4The king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
4Mambo weEgipita akagadza Eriyakimi munin'ina wake ave mambo waJudha neJerusaremu, akashandura zita rake, rikazova Jehoyakimu. Neko akatora munin'ina wake Joahazi, akaenda naye Egipita.
5Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God.
5Jehoyakimu akatanga kubata ushe ava namakore makumi maviri namashanu; akabata ushe paJerusaremu makore gumi nerimwe, akaita zvakaipa pamberi paJehovha Mwari wake.
6Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
6Zvino Nebhukadhinezari mambo weBhabhironi akasvika kuzorwa naye, akamusunga namaketani, kundomuisa Bhabhironi.
7Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of Yahweh to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
7Nebhukadhinezari akaendawo nedzimwe nhumbi dzeimba yaJehovha akadziisa Bhabhironi.
8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
8Zvino mamwe mabasa aJehoyakimu, nezvinonyangadza zvake zvaakaita, nezvakawanikwa maari, tarirai zvakanyorwa mubhuku yamadzimambo aIsiraeri naJudha; Jehoyakini mwanakomana wake akamutevera paushe.
9Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.
9Jehoyakini akatanga kubata ushe ava namakore masere, akabata ushe paJerusaremu mwedzi mitatu namazuva ane gumi; akaita zvakaipa pamberi paJehovha.
10At the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of Yahweh, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
10Zvino gore rikati rapera mambo Nebhukadhinezari akatuma nhume vakamuisa Bhabhironi, pamwechete nenhumbi dzinokosha dzeimba yaJehovha, akaita munin'ina wake Zedhekia mambo waJudha neJerusaremu.
11Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem:
11Zedhekia akatanga kubata ushe ava namakore makumi maviri nerimwe; akabata ushe paJerusaremu makore gumi nerimwe.
12and he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God; he didn’t humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of Yahweh.
12Akaita zvakaipa pamberi paJehovha Mwari wake; haana kuzvininipisa pamberi pomuporofita Jeremiya, aitaura mashoko aibva pamurumo waJehovha.
13He also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to Yahweh, the God of Israel.
13Akamukirawo mambo Nebhukadhinezari, akanga amupikisa naMwari; asi akawomesa mutsipa wake, nokuomesa moyo wake, akarega kutendeukira kuna Jehovha Mwari waIsiraeri.
14Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of Yahweh which he had made holy in Jerusalem.
14Uye vakuru vose vapristi navanhu vakadarika zvikuru kwazvo, vakatevera zvinonyangadza zvose zvavahedheni, vakasvibisa imba yaJehovha yaakanga atsaura paJerusaremu.
15Yahweh, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:
15Jehovha Mwari wamadzibaba avo akatuma mashoko kwavari nenhume dzake, achifumira mangwanani achituma; nekuti akanga ane tsitsi navanhu vake uye nenzvimbo yake;
16but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Yahweh arose against his people, until there was no remedy.
16asi vakaseka nhume dzaMwari, vakazvidza mashoko ake, vakadadira vaporofita vake, kusvikira Jehovha atsamwira vanhu vake, kusvikira vasichagoni kurapwa.
17Therefore he brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or gray-headed: he gave them all into his hand.
17Saka wakauyisa mambo wavaKaradhea kwavari akauraya majaya avo nomunondo paimba yavo tsvene; haana kunzwira tsitsi kunyange jaya, kana musikana, kana mutana, kana akachena vhudzi; akavaisa vose muruoko rwake.
18All the vessels of God’s house, great and small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.
18Nhumbi dzosewo dzeimba yaMwari, huru neduku, nefuma yeimba yaJehovha, nefuma yamambo neyamachinda ake, akazviisa zvose Bhabhironi.
19They burnt God’s house, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels of it.
19Vakapisa imba yaMwari, vakaputsa rusvingo rweJerusaremu, vakapisa dzimba dzose dzoushe dzaro nomoto, vakaparadza nhumbi dzose dzinokosha dzaro.
20He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
20Avo vakanga vapukunyuka pamunondo, akaenda navo Bhabhironi; vakandova varanda vake navanakomana vake kusvikira ushe huchibatwa navaPeresia;
21to fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. As long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
21kuti shoko raJehovha, rakanga rarehwa nomuromo waJeremiya, riitike; kusvikira nyika yafarira masabata ayo, nekuti panguva yose yokuitwa dongo kwayo yakachengeta masabata, ikasvitsa makore ana makumi manomwe.
22Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
22Zvino negore rokutanga raKoreshi mambo wePerisia, kuti shoko raJehovha rakanga rarehwa nomuromo waJeremiya riitike, Jehovha akamutsa mweya waKoreshi mambo wePerisia, akaparidza paushe hwake hwose, akazvinyorawo, achiti,
23“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given all the kingdoms of the earth to me; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, Yahweh his God be with him, and let him go up.’”
23Zvanzi naKoreshi mambo wePerisia, Jehovha Mwari wokudenga akandipa ushe hwose bwenyika, akandiraira kuti ndimuvakire imba paJerusaremu riri paJudha. Ani naani aripo pakati penyu wavanhu vake, Jehovha Mwari wake ngaave naye, ngaakwire hake ko.
