12How can I myself alone bear your encumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
12Ini ndoga ndingatakura seiko kurema kwenyu, nomutoro wenyu, nokurwa kwenyu?
13Take wise men of understanding and well known according to your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”
13Muzvitsaurirei varume vakachenjera, vakangwara, vanozikamwa, kumarudzi enyu, ndivaite vakuru venyu.
14You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”
14Mukandipindura, mukati, Chinhu icho chamataura chakanaka kuti tichiite.
15So I took the heads of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your tribes.
15Ipapo ndakatora vakuru vamarudzi enyu, varume vakanga vakachenjera, vakanga vakazikamwa, ndikavaita vakuru venyu, vave vakuru vezviuru, navakuru vamazana, navakuru vamakumi mashanu, navakuru vevane gumi, navatariri kumarudzi enyu.
16I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.
16Nenguva iyo ndikaraira vatongi venyu, ndikati, teererai mhosva dziri pakati pehama dzenyu, mururamisire pakati pomunhu nehama yake, nomutorwa ugere naye.
17You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike; you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”
17Musatsaura vanhu pakutonga kwenyu; munofanira kuteerera muduku nomukuru nomutowo mumwe; musatya munhu; nekuti kutonga ndokwa Mwari; asi kana kune mhaka yamusingagoni, muuye nayo kwandiri kuti ndiinzwe.
18I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.
18Nenguva iyo ndakakurairai zvose zvamunofanira kuita.
19We traveled from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.
19Zvino takasimuka paHorebhu, tikafamba murenje iro rose guru rinotyisa, ramakaona panzira yokumakomo avaAmori, sezvatakarairwa naJehovha Mwari wedu; tikasvika paKadheshi-bharinea.
20I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God gives to us.
20Ndikati kwamuri, Masvika panyika yamakomo yavaAmori, yatinopiwa naJehovha Mwari wedu.
21Behold, Yahweh your God has set the land before you: go up, take possession, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you; don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”
21Tarirai, Jehovha, Mwari wenyu wakaisa nyika iyo pamberi penyu; kwirai, muitore, sezvamakaudzwa naJehovha Mwari wamadzibaba enyu; musatya kana kuvhunduka.
22You came near to me everyone of you, and said, “Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”
22Ipapo imwi makaswedera mose kwandiri, mukati, Ngatitume varume vatitungamirire, vatishorere nyika, vagouya kuzotiudza nzira yatinofanira kukwira nayo, namaguta atichandosvika kwaari.
23The thing pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe:
23Shoko iro rakandifadza; ndikatsaura varume vane gumi navaviri pakati penyu, murume mumwe kurudzi rumwe norumwe.
24and they turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
24Ivo vakaenda vakakwira mugomo, vakasvika mumupata weEshikori, vakaishora,
25They took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which Yahweh our God gives to us.”
25Vakatora mimwe michero yenyika mumaoko avo, vakaburukira kwatiri nayo, vakadzoka neshoko kwatiri, vakati, Inyika yakanaka, yatinopiwa naJehovha Mwari wedu.
26Yet you wouldn’t go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God:
26Asi makaramba kukwira, mukamukira kuraira kwaJehovha Mwari wenyu;
27and you murmured in your tents, and said, “Because Yahweh hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
27mukanyunyuta mumatende enyu, mukati, Jehovha wakativenga, saka wakatibudisa munyika yeEgipita, kuti atiise mumaoko avaAmori, kuti atiparadze.
28Where are we going up? our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to the sky; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.’”
28Zvino tichaendepiko? Hama dzedu dzanyawusa moyo yedu, dzichiti, Vanhu avo vanotikunda nokukura nokureba; maguta makuru, akakombwa namasvingo anosvika kudenga; uye, takaonako vana vaEnaki.
29Then I said to you, “Don’t dread, neither be afraid of them.
29Ipapo ini ndakati kwamuri, Musavhunduka henyu, kana kuvatya.
30Yahweh your God who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
30Jehovha Mwari wenyu unokutungamirirai, iye uchakurwirai, sezvaakakuitirai zvose paEgipita pamberi penyu,
31and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that Yahweh your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came to this place.”
31nomurenje pamakaona muberekero wamakaberekwa nawo naJehovha Mwari wenyu, somunhu unobereka mwana wake; panzira dzenyu dzose dzamakafamba nadzo, kudzimara muchisvika panzvimbo iyi.
32Yet in this thing you didn’t believe Yahweh your God,
32Asi pachinhu ichi hamuna kutenda Jehovha Mwari wenyu;
33who went before you in the way, to seek you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in the cloud by day.
33iye wakakutungamirirai panzira, kuti akutsvakirei pamungadzika matende enyu, nomoto usiku, kuti akuratidzei nzira yamunofanira kufamba nayo, uye negore masikati.
34Yahweh heard the voice of your words, and was angry, and swore, saying,
34Zvino Jehovha akanzwa inzwi ramashoko enyu, akatsamwa, akapika, achiti,
35“Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land, which I swore to give to your fathers,
35Zvirokwazvo, hakungavi nomumwe wavanhu ava, vorudzi urwu rwakaipa, uchaona nyika yakanaka, yandakapika ndichiti ndichaipa madzibaba enyu,
36except Caleb the son of Jephunneh: he shall see it; and to him will I give the land that he has trodden on, and to his children, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.”
36asi Karebhu, mwanakomana waJefune, ndiye uchaiona; ndichamupa iye navana vake nyika yaakatsika, nekuti iye wakatevera Jehovha nomoyo wose.
37Also Yahweh was angry with me for your sakes, saying, “You also shall not go in there:
37Jehovha akanditsamwira neniwo nokuda kwenyu, akati, Newewo haungapindi ikoko;
38Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there: encourage you him; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
38Joshua mwanakomana waNuni, umire pamberi pako, ndiye uchapinda ikoko; umusimbise, nekuti ndiye uchagarisa vaIsiraeri nhaka yavo.
39Moreover your little ones, whom you said should be a prey, and your children, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there, and to them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
39Vana venyu vaduku, vamakati vachatapwa, navana venyu vasingazivi nhasi zvakanaka nezvakaipa, ndivo vachapinda ikoko; ndichavapa iyo, ive yavo.
40But as for you, turn, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds .”
40Asi kana murimwi, dzokai mufambe murenje nenzira yokuGungwa dzvuku
41Then you answered and said to me, “We have sinned against Yahweh, we will go up and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.
41Zvino imwi mukapindura, mukati kwandiri, Takatadzira Jehovha, tichakwira hedu tindorwa, zvose sezvatakarairwa naJehovha Mwari wedu. Mukashonga mumwe nomumwe nhumbi dzake dzokurwa nadzo, mukada kukwira mugomo.
42Yahweh said to me, “Tell them, ‘Don’t go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be struck before your enemies.’”
42Zvino Jehovha akati kwandiri, Uti kwavari: Musakwira kana kurwa, nekuti ini handizi pakati penyu; kuti murege kukundwa pamberi pavavengi venyu.
43So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.
43Naizvozvo ndakataura nemi, asi makaramba kunditeerera; asi makamukira murayiro waJehovha, mukaita manyawi, mukakwira mugomo.
44The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.
44Zvino vaAmori vakanga vagere mugomo iro, vakabuda kuzorwa nemi, vakakudzingai, sezvinoita nyuchi, vakakuparadzai kusvikira paHoma.
45You returned and wept before Yahweh; but Yahweh didn’t listen to your voice, nor gave ear to you.
45Ipapo makadzoka, mukachema pamberi paJehovha, asi Jehovha haana kuteerera inzwi renyu, kana kurerekera nzeve dzake.
46So you stayed in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you remained.
46Naizvozvo makagara paKadheshi mazuva mazhinji, nguva yamakagarapo.
