22

1It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”
1Zvino zvakaitika shure kwezvinhu izvi kuti Mwari wakaedza Abhurahamu akati kwaari: Abhurahamu! Iye ndokuti: Tarirai, ndiri pano.
2He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”
2Ndokuti: Zvino tora mwanakomana wako, wako umwe chete, waunoda, Isaka, uende kunyika yeMoria; umupe ave chibayiro chinopiswa pamusoro perimwe gomo randichakuudza.
3Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.
3Abhurahamu ndokumuka mangwa­nani-ngwanani, akasungira chigara padhongi rake, akatora vaviri vemajaya ake naye, naIsaka mwanakomana wake. Zvino wakatsemura huni dzechiba­yiro chinopiswa, ndokusimuka, ndokuenda kunzvimbo Mwari yaakamuudza.
4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.
4Zvino nemusi wetatu Abhurahamu waka­simudza meso ake, akaona nzvimbo iri kure.
5Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you.”
5Abhurahamu ndokuti kumajaya ake: Imwi chigarai henyu pano nembo­ngoro, ini nemukomana tichienda uko nekunoshumira, tigodzoka kwamuri.
6Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.
6Abhurahamu ndokutora huni dzechi­bayiro chinopiswa, akadzitakudza Isaka mwanakomana wake; ndokutora moto neba­nga muruoko rwake, ndokuenda vari va­viri.
7Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
7Isaka ndokutaura naAbhurahamu baba vake akati: Baba vangu! Iye ndokuti: Ndiri pano, mwana wangu. ndokuti: Tarirai, moto nehuni, asi gwayana rechibayiro chinopiswa riripi?
8Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.
8Abhurahamu ndokuti: Mwari ucha­zvipa gwayana rechibayiro chinopiswa, mwanakomana wangu; saizvozvo vakafamba vari vaviri pamwe.
9They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.
9Zvino vakasvika panzvimbo Mwari yaakange avaudza; Abhurahamu ndokuvakapo aritari; ndokugadzira huni; ndokusunga Isaka mwanakomana wake, ndokumuisa paaritari pamu­soro pehuni.
10Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.
10Zvino Abhurahamu wakata­mbanudza ruoko rwake, ndokutora banga kuti abaye mwanakomana wake.
11The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”
11Zvino mutumwa waJehovha wakadanidzira kwaari ari kumatenga akati: Abhurahamu! Abhurahamu! Iye ndokuti: Ndiri pano.
12He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
12Zvino wakati: Usaisa ruoko rwako pamukomana, kana kumuitira chinhu, nekuti ikozvino ndinoziva kuti unotya Mwari, sezvo usina kundinyima mwanakomana wako, wako umwe chete.
13Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
13Abhurahamu ndokusimudza meso ake, ndokutarira, ndokuona shure gondohwe rakange rakabatwa mufomwe nenyanga dzaro. Abhurahamu ndokunotora gondohwe riya, akaripisa chikava chiba­yiro panzvimbo yemwanakomana wake.
14Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will Provide . As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”
14Abhurahamu ndokutumidza zita renzvimbo iyo kuti Jehovha-jire; sezvo kuchinzi nanhasi, Pagomo raJehovha zvicharangarirwa.
15The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,
15Zvino mutumwa waJehovha waka­danidzira kuna Abhurahamu rwechipiri, ari kumate­nga,
16and said, “I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,
16ndokuti: Ndakapika neni ndomene, ndizvo zvinoreva Jehovha, nekuti waita chinhi ichi, ukasanyima mwanakomana wako, wako umwe chete;
17that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.
17ndichakuropafa­dza nekuropafadza, uye ndichawanza nekuwanza mbeu yako senyeredzi dzekumatenga, uye se­jecha riri pamahombekombe egungwa; uye mbeu yako ichava varidzi vemasuwo eva­vengi vayo;
18In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
18nemumbeu yako ndudzi dzose dzenyika dzicharopafadzwa, nekuti wa­kateerera inzwi rangu.
19So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.
19Zvino Abhura­hamu wakadzokera kumajaya ake; ndoku­simuka ndokuenda vose Bheerishebha; Abhurahamu ndokugara paBheerishebha.
20It happened after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:
20Zvino zvakaitika shure kwezvinhu izvi, kuti Abhurahamu wakaudzwa zvichinzi: Tarira, Mirika wakaberekerawo munin'ina wako Nahori vanakomana:
21Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,
21Uzi dangwe rake, naBuzi munin'ina wake, naKemueri baba vaAramu,
22Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”
22naKesedhi, naHazo, naPiradhashi, naJidhirafi, naBhetueri;
23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
23Bhetueri ndokubereka Rabheka; ava va­sere Mirika wakavakaberekera Nahori, munununa waAbhurahamu.
24His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
24Nemurongo wake, wezita rainzi Ruma, wakaberekawo Tebha, naGahami, naTa­hashi, naMaaka.
