1Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and said, “Isn’t it that Yahweh has anointed you to be prince over his inheritance?
1 Gaa no Samuwila na ji sintili sambu, a n'a soogu Sawulu boŋo ra, a n'a garba sunsum ka ne: «Manti yaadin no, Rabbi na ni soogu nd'a ni ma ciya nga wane jama mayko?
2When you have departed from me today, then you shall find two men by Rachel’s tomb, in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will tell you, ‘The donkeys which you went to seek have been found; and behold, your father has stopped caring about the donkeys, and is anxious for you, saying, “What shall I do for my son?”’
2 Hunkuna, in da nin fayyaŋ banda, ni ga boro hinka gar Rahila saara do haray, Zelza do haray, Benyamin hirro boŋ. I ga ne ni se: ‹Farkayey din kaŋ yaŋ ni koy ka ceeci, i du ey. A go mo, ni baaba ya fun farkayey din sanni ra, a goono ga karhã d'araŋ ka ne: Ifo n'ay ga te ay izo wo ciine ra?›
3“Then you shall go on forward from there, and you shall come to the oak of Tabor; and three men shall meet you there going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three young goats, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
3 Waati din gaa ni ga bisa noodin, ni ga koy ka to Tabor shen* tuuri nyaŋo do. Noodin mo boro hinza ga kubay da nin, kaŋ yaŋ goono ga koy Irikoy do Betel. Afa gonda hincin ize hinza, afa gonda buuru kunkuni hinza, afa mo go ga duvan* humbur fo jare.
4and they will greet you, and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive of their hand.
4 I ga ni fo, i ga buuru kunkuni hinka no ni se, ni mo g'a ta i kambey ra.
5“After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall happen, when you have come there to the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tambourine, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they will be prophesying:
5 Woodin banda ni ga kaa Irikoy fando gaa, nango kaŋ Filistancey gata go. Ni tooyanta kwaara ra, ni ga kubay da annabiyaŋ, i goono ga zulli ka fun sududuyaŋ nango do, da moolo da can-caŋ da seese da gurumi yaŋ ngey jine. Ni g'i gar i goono ga annabitaray te.
6and the Spirit of Yahweh will come mightily on you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.
7Let it be, when these signs have come to you, that you do as occasion shall serve you; for God is with you.
8“You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: you shall wait seven days, until I come to you, and show you what you shall do.”
9It was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs happened that day.
9 Waato kaŋ a na banda bare Samuwila gaa ka dira mo, zama nga ma koy nangu fo haray, kala Irikoy n'a bina barme k'a no itaji. Alaamey din kulu binde te han din.
10When they came there to the hill, behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily on him, and he prophesied among them.
10 Waato kaŋ i koy ka to yongo fando do, kala annabi jama go, i kubay d'a. Irikoy Biya mo zumbu a boŋ da hin beeri. A na annabitaray te mo i banda.
11It happened, when all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said one to another, “What is this that has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”
11 A binde, borey kulu kaŋ yaŋ g'a bay waato, kaŋ i di a goono ga annabitaray te annabey banda, i ne ngey nda care se: «Ifo no woone kaŋ du Cis izo? Sawulu mo go annabey ra, wala?»
12One of the same place answered, “Who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
12 Noodin boro fo binde ne: «May no ga ti i baaba mo?» Woodin binde ciya yaasay sanni i se kaŋ i ga ne: «Sawulu mo go annabey ra, wala?»
13When he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
13 Waato kaŋ a na annabitaray te ka ban, a kaa sududuyaŋ nango do.
14Saul’s uncle said to him and to his servant, “Where did you go?” He said, “To seek the donkeys. When we saw that they were not found, we came to Samuel.”
14 Sawulu baaba kayne fo ne Sawulu nda nga bannya se: «Man no araŋ koy?» A ne: «Farkayey ceeciyaŋ no iri koy. Kaŋ iri di kaŋ iri mana du ey mo, iri koy Samuwila do.»
15Saul’s uncle said, “Please tell me what Samuel said to you.”
16Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys were found.” But concerning the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he didn’t tell him.
17Samuel called the people together to Yahweh to Mizpah;
18and he said to the children of Israel, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you:’
18 A ne Israyla izey se: «Yaa no Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo ne: Ay na Israyla kaa Misira ra, ay n'araŋ soolam ka kaa Misirancey kambe ra da mayray kulu kambe ra mo kaŋ yaŋ n'araŋ kankam.
19but you have this day rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, ‘No! Set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before Yahweh by your tribes, and by your thousands.”
19 Amma hunkuna araŋ wangu araŋ Irikoyo, nga kaŋ nga bumbo no g'araŋ faaba araŋ masiibey d'araŋ kankamey gaa. Araŋ ne a se mo: Abada. Kala day i ma bonkooni daŋ iri se. Sohõ binde, kal araŋ m'araŋ boŋ cabe Rabbi jine, kunda-kunda nda zambar-zambar.»
20So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken.
20 Yaadin cine no Samuwila na Israyla kundey kulu maanandi, i na Benyamin kunda sambu.
21He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by their families; and the family of the Matrites was taken; and Saul the son of Kish was taken: but when they sought him, he could not be found.
21 A na Benyamin kunda mo maanandi, dumi-dumi, i na Matri almayaaley sambu. I na Sawulu, Cis ize mo suuban, amma waato kaŋ i n'a ceeci, i mana di a.
22Therefore they asked of Yahweh further, “Is there yet a man to come here?” Yahweh answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”
22 Woodin se no i ye ka hã Rabbi gaa koyne hala boro fo go no kaŋ ga kaa ne jine? Rabbi tu ka ne: «Guna a goono ga tugu jinayey ra.»
23They ran and fetched him there; and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
23 I zuru ka koy k'a di noodin. Waato kaŋ a kay jama ra, kal a go, a ku da borey kulu za jase boŋo gaa ka koy beene.
24Samuel said to all the people, “You see him whom Yahweh has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people?” All the people shouted, and said, “Let the king live!”
25Then Samuel told the people the regulations of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before Yahweh. Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
A n'a fonda hantum mo tira fo ra ka jisi Rabbi jine.
26Saul also went to his house to Gibeah; and there went with him the army, whose hearts God had touched.
26 Sawulu mo koy nga kwaara Jibeya. Jama marga mo, ngey kaŋ yaŋ Irikoy n'i biney ham, i koy Sawulu banda.
27But certain worthless fellows said, “How shall this man save us?” They despised him, and brought him no present. But he held his peace.
27 Amma boro laalo fooyaŋ ne: «Mate no boro wo ga te k'iri faaba nd'a?» I binde dond'a. I mana kande a se fooyaŋ hari fo. Amma nga wo dangay.
