1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
1 Bonkoono Yerebowam mayra jiiri way cindi ahakkanta ra no Abiya sintin ka may Yahuda ra.
2He reigned three years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
2 A may jiiri hinza Urusalima ra. A nya maa ga ti Maaka, Uriyel Jibeya bora ize way no. Wongu goro Abiya nda Yerebowam game ra.
3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
3 Abiya binde furo wongo ra, nga nda soojey kunda boro zambar zangu taaci kaŋ suubanante yaŋ no. Yerebowam no na boro zambar zangu ahakku soola, boro suubanante yaŋ, kaŋ ga wongu nd'a, yaarukom gaabikooni yaŋ no.
4Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
4 Abiya kay Zemarayim tondo boŋ kaŋ go Ifraymu tondey ra. A ne: «Ya Yerebowam, wa maa ay se, nin da Israyla kulu.
5Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
5 Manti a ga hima araŋ ma bay kaŋ Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo na Israyla mayra no Dawda se hal abada, sanda Dawda nda nga izey nooya, ciiri alkawli _kaŋ si tun|_ boŋ?
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
6 Kulu nda yaadin, Yerebowam Nebat ize, Dawda ize Suleymanu tamo murte nga koyo gaa.
7There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
7 Ize yaamoyaŋ mo margu a banda, ize furkuyaŋ, kaŋ na ngey boŋ gaabandi ngey ma yanje nda Rehobowam Suleymanu izo, waato kaŋ Rehobowam gonda zankataray, a sinda bine-gaabi, a si hin ka kay i se.
8“Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
8 Sohõ binde araŋ ga tammahã hala araŋ ga hin ka kay ka gaaba nda Rabbi koytara kaŋ go Dawda izey kambe ra? Araŋ wo jama bambata no, araŋ banda mo araŋ gonda wura handayzey kaŋ Yerebowam te zama i ma ciya araŋ de-koyey.
9Haven’t you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
10“But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:
10 Amma iri wo, Rabbi no ga ti iri Irikoyo, iri mana fay d'a mo. Iri gonda alfagey mo kaŋ yaŋ ga goy Rabbi se, Haruna banda da Lawi borey mo ngey goyo ra.
11and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.
11 Zaari kulu, susubay nda wiciri kambu i ga sargay kaŋ i ga ton yaŋ ton, da dugu kaŋ haw ga kaan Rabbi se. Jisiyaŋ buuro mo, i g'a soola taabal hananta din boŋ, da wura fitilla suntulo, nga da nga fitilley ga soobay ka di wiciri kambu. Zama iri go ga Rabbi iri Irikoyo lordey haggoy, amma araŋ wo na banda bare a gaa.
12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.”
12 A go mo, Irikoy go iri do iri jine candiko, d'a alfagey da baaru nooyaŋ hilley, zama i m'i kar soolayaŋ se ka wongu nd'araŋ. Ya araŋ Israyla izey, araŋ ma si wongu nda Rabbi, araŋ kaayey Irikoyo, zama araŋ si te zaama bo.»
13But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
13 Amma Yerebowam na gumandi ize fooyaŋ daŋ i ma koy i banda hala ngey wo, Israyla go Yahuda jine, gumandi izey mo go Yahuda banda.
14When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
14 Saaya kaŋ cine i zagu ka di kaŋ wongu go ngey se jina nda banda, kala i hẽ Rabbi gaa, alfagey mo na hilley kar.
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
15 Yahuda borey mo kuuwa. Waato din gaa no Irikoy na Yerebowam kar, nga nda Israyla kulu, Abiya da Yahuda jine.
16The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
16 Israyla izey zuru Yahuda jine. Irikoy n'i daŋ mo Yahuda kambe ra.
17Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
17 Abiya nda nga borey n'i wi da wiyaŋ bambata. Israyla boro zambar zangu gu kaŋ suubanante yaŋ no, i n'i wi.
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
18 Yaadin cine no Israyla izey na goobu haŋ d'a alwaato din ra. Yahuda izey te zaama zama i de Rabbi ngey kaayey Irikoyo gaa.
19Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its towns, and Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.
19 Abiya binde na Yerebowam gaaray ka gallu fooyaŋ kom a gaa: Betel da nga kawyey, Yesana da nga kawyey, da Efron da nga kawyey.
20Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. Yahweh struck him, and he died.
20 Yerebowam mana ye ka du gaabi koyne Abiya zamana ra. Rabbi mo n'a kar kal a bu.
21But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
21 Amma Abiya te gaabi. A na wande way cindi taaci hiiji. A na ize aru waranka cindi hinka hay, da ize wayboro way cindi iddu.
22The rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
22 Abiya goy cindey binde, d'a muraadey, da haŋ kaŋ a ci, i n'i hantum annabi Iddo tira ra.
23 Abiya binde kani nga kaayey banda, i n'a fiji mo Dawda birno ra. A izo Asa te bonkooni a nango ra. A zamana ra laabo goono ga goro baani samay jiiri way.
