1Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.
1 Ahab haama Yehoram te bonkooni Israyla boŋ Samariya ra Yahuda bonkoono Yehosafat jiiri way cindi ahakkanta ra. A te bonkooni jiiri way cindi hinka.
2He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, but not like his father, and like his mother; for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.
2 A na teera laalo yaŋ te Rabbi jine, amma manti sanda a baabo wano cine, wala a nyaŋo wano cine bo, zama a na Baal* cinaro kaŋ Ahab cina din ganandi.
3Nevertheless he held to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; he didn’t depart from it.
3 Amma a naagu Yerobowam Nebat izo zunubey gaa, naŋ kaŋ a Israyla daŋ i ma zunubi te; a mana fay d'a mo.
4Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder; and he rendered to the king of Israel the wool of one hundred thousand lambs, and of one hundred thousand rams.
4 Mowab bonkoono Mesa wo feeji koy no. A ga Israyla bonkoono no jangal feej'ize zambar zangu hamni, da feeji gaaru zambar zangu wane mo.
5But it happened, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
5 Amma a ciya, waati kaŋ Ahab bu, Mowab bonkoono murte Israyla bonkoono gaa.
6King Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel.
7He went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me against Moab to battle?” He said, “I will go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”
8He said, “Which way shall we go up?” He answered, “The way of the wilderness of Edom.”
8 Yehoram ne: «Fondo woofo no iri ga gana?» Yehosafat tu ka ne: «Edom saaji fonda no.»
9So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days’ journey. There was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.
9 Israyla bonkoono mo koy, Yahuda bonkoono nda Edom bonkoono mo koy. I kamba ka windi jirbi iyye. I goono ga windi, i jaŋ hari ngey wongu marga kaŋ goono g'i gana se, d'i almaney mo se.
10The king of Israel said, “Alas! For Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
10 Israyla bonkoono ne: «Kaari! Zama Rabbi na bonkooni hinzo wo ce, a n'i margu zama a m'i daŋ Mowab kambe ra.»
11But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”
11 Amma Yehosafat ne: «Rabbi annabi* fo si neewo kaŋ do iri ga hã?» Kala boro fo Israyla bonkoono bannyey ra tu ka ne a se: «Iliyasu, Safat izo kaŋ doŋ a goro ka hari dooru Iliya kambe gaa, a go no.»
12Jehoshaphat said, “The word of Yahweh is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
12 Yehosafat ne: «Rabbi sanno go a banda.» Israyla bonkoono nda Yehosafat da Edom bonkoono mo koy a do.
13Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother.” The king of Israel said to him, “No; for Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
Israyla bonkoono ne a se: «Manti yaadin no bo. Zama Rabbi na bonkooni hinzo wo ce, a n'i margu zama a m'i daŋ Mowab kambe ra.»
14Elisha said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I respect the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.
15But now bring me a minstrel.” It happened, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Yahweh came on him.
A ciya mo, waato kaŋ moolo koyo kaa ka kar, kala Rabbi kamba zumbu ka kaa Iliyasu boŋ.
16He said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’
16 A ne mo: «Rabbi ne araŋ ma gooru batama wo toonandi nda gootayaŋ.
17For thus says Yahweh, ‘You will not see wind, neither will you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your animals.
18This is but a light thing in the sight of Yahweh. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
18 Woodin wo, manti hay fo no Rabbi diyaŋ gaa. A ga Mowabancey mo daŋ araŋ kambe ra.
19You shall strike every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’”
19 Araŋ ga kwaara gaabikooney, da kwaara suubanantey kulu kar, araŋ ma tuuri-nya hanney kulu beeri mo. Araŋ ma hari-moy nda gooru hari zurukoy kulu daabu, araŋ ma fari hanney kulu sara nda tondiyaŋ mo.»
20It happened in the morning, about the time of offering the offering, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
20 A ciya mo, susubay sargay salleyaŋ alwaate, kala hari go, a na Edom fonda gana ka kaa, laabo mo to nda hari.
21Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood on the border.
21 Alwaato kaŋ Mowabancey kulu maa baaru kaŋ koyey kaa zama ngey ma wongu se, day i margu, i kulu kaŋ yaŋ ga hin ka takuba koto ka koy beene. I kay laabo hirro me gaa.
22They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood.
22 I tun za susubay da hinay, wayna mo go ga kaari haro boŋ. Mowabancey mo di haro kaŋ go ngey jine ga ciray, caw! sanda kuri.
23They said, “This is blood. The kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each other. Now therefore, Moab, to the spoil!”
23 I ne: «Woone kuri no, bonkooney halaci. Sohõ, ya Mowab, kal iri ma wongu arzaka ku.»
24When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land smiting the Moabites.
24 Kaŋ i kaa Israyla marga do, Israyla tun ka kay ka Mowabancey kar kal i zuru i jine. I koy jina ka furo laabo ra, i soobay ka Mowabancey kar.
25They beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the springs of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir Hareseth only they left its stones; however the men armed with slings went about it, and struck it.
25 I na kwaarey ŋwa. Fari hanney kulu boŋ i na tondi jindaw, boro kulu na nga wane jindaw, i n'a toonandi mo. I na hari-mwa kulu daabu ka tuuri-nya hanney kulu beeri hala Cir-Hareset. I n'a tondey hinne naŋ. Kulu nda yaadin finga-finga koyey n'a windi k'a kar.
26When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too severe for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew sword, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not.
26 Alwaato kaŋ Mowab bonkoono di kaŋ wongo bisa nga gaabi, a sambu boro zangu iyye, alboro yaŋ, takubakoyey, nga ma fonda kosaraykoy daaru ka koy hala Edom bonkoono do, amma i mana hin.
27Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. There was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
27 Waato din gaa no a na nga ize hay-jina, kaŋ ga hima ka te bonkooni nga nangu ra sambu k'a salle sargay kaŋ i ga ton, kwaara birno boŋ. Woodin mo kande Israyla se futay dungo, hal i tun a do ka ye ka kaa ngey laabu.
