1It happened after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his place.
1 Woodin banda Amon izey bonkoono bu. A izo Hanun te bonkooni nga baabo nango ra.
2David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
3But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn’t David sent his servants to you to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”
3 Amma Amonancey koyey ne ngey koyo Hanun se: «Ni ga tammahã hala Dawda ga ni baabo beerandi no, kaŋ se ni di a na kunfakoyaŋ donton ni do? Manti Dawda na diyey din donton no zama i ma birno tugari guna, i m'a windi k'a ŋwa mo?»
4So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
4 Hanun binde na Dawda tamey din di k'i kaabe jarey cabu. A n'i bankaarayey mo pati bindi hal i cantey do haray cine, k'i sallama.
5When they told it to David, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”
5 Waato kaŋ i ci Dawda se, a donton zama nga m'i kubay. Alborey, haawi go g'i di gumo. Bonkoono binde ne: «Wa goro Yeriko hal araŋ kaabey ma zay jina, gaa no araŋ ma ye ka kaa.»
6When the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth Rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with one thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.
6 Waato kaŋ Amonancey di ngey ciya fanta hariyaŋ Dawda se, kal i donton ka zinga nda Bayt-Rehob Suriyancey da Zoba waney, ka du ce-koy zambar waranka. A donton mo Maaka gaa ka du bonkoono da boro zambar fo, da Tob boro zambar way cindi hinka.
7When David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the army of the mighty men.
7 Waato kaŋ Dawda maa baaro binde, a na Yowab da yaarukomey marga kulu donton.
8The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
8 Amonancey binde fatta ka wongu daaga sinji kwaara birni meyo jarga. Suriyancey mo, Zoba waney, da Rehob waney da Tob alborey da Maaka waney, i go daaga ra kambu fo.
9Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
9 Saaya kaŋ Yowab di i na daaga sinji nga se jine nda banda, kal a na Israyla soojey hanney kulu suuban i ma daaga sinji ka kubay da Suriyancey.
10The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon.
10 A na alboro cindey daŋ nga kayno Abisay kambe ra. A n'i kayandi i ma Amonancey do haray wongu.
11He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.
11 A ne mo: «Hala day Suriyancey bisa ay gaabi, waato din gaa ni ma te ay se gaako. Da mo Amonancey no ka gaabu nda nin, ay mo ga kaa ka ni gaa.
12Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and Yahweh do that which seems good to him.”
12 Ma te bine-gaabi, iri ma te alboro-teera iri dumo sabbay se d'iri Irikoyo birney se. Rabbi mo ma te haŋ kaŋ nga ga ba.»
13So Joab and the people who were with him drew near to the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.
13 Yowab da borey kaŋ go a banda binde koy ka maan zama ngey ma Suriyancey wongu, hal i zuru a jine.
14When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
14 Amonancey mo, waato kaŋ i di Suriyancey zuru, ngey mo zuru Abisay se ka furo birno ra. Yowab binde bare noodin ka fay da Amonancey ganayaŋ, ka ye ka kaa Urusalima.
15When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they gathered themselves together.
15 Waato kaŋ Suriyancey di ngey na goobu haŋ Israyla borey kambe ra, kal i margu.
16Hadadezer sent, and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
16 Hadad-Ezer mo donton ka kande Isa Beero banda Suriyancey. Ngey mo kaa Helam Sobak, Hadad-Ezer wongu marga wonkoyo go i boŋ.
17It was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. The Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.
17 I ci Dawda se. Nga mo na Israyla kulu margu ka Urdun daŋandi, ka kaa Helam. Suriyancey mo na daaga sinji Dawda se k'a wongu.
18The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrians seven hundred charioteers, and forty thousand horsemen, and struck Shobach the captain of their army, so that he died there.
18 Amma Suriyancey zuru Israyla se. Dawda na Suriyancey wi mo, torkey ra boro zangu iyye, bari-kari mo zambar waytaaci. A n'i wonkoyo Sobak mo kar kal a bu noodin.
19When all the kings who were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
19 Waato kaŋ koyey kulu kaŋ yaŋ ga may Hadad-Ezer se di kaŋ ngey na goobu haŋ Israyla izey kambe ra, i na amaana sambu nda Israyla ka may a se. Yaadin no Suriyancey humburu nd'a ngey ma ye ka Amonancey gaa koyne.
