1There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew the trumpet, and said, “We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel!”
1 A saba nd'a, boro yaamo fo go noodin kaŋ maa Seba Biciri ize, Benyamin kunda boro no. Kal a na hilli kar ka ne: «Iri sinda baa Dawda do, iri sinda tubu mo Yasse izo do. Ya Israyla, boro kulu ma ye nga kwaara do!»
2So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah joined with their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
2 Israyla alborey kulu binde tun ka fay da Dawda ganayaŋ. I na Seba Biciri ize gana. Amma Yahuda alborey naagu ngey bonkoono gaa, za Urdun kala Urusalima.
3David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody, and provided them with sustenance, but didn’t go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.
3 Dawda kaa mo nga windo do Urusalima. Bonkoono mo na wayboro wayo din sambu, sanda a wahayey nooya, ngey kaŋ yaŋ a dira ka naŋ i m'a windo batu. A n'i kulle fu fo ra, i m'i batu. A n'i goray hari jisi i se, amma a mana margu nd'ey. I go noodin daabanteyaŋ kal i buuyaŋ, goborotaray ra.
4Then the king said to Amasa, “Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and be here present.”
4 Waato din gaa bonkoono ne Amasa se: «Ne ka koy jirbi hinza ni ma Yahuda alborey ce ay se, i ma margu, ni mo ma kaa i banda.»
5So Amasa went to call the men of Judah together; but he stayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.
5 A binde koy zama nga ma Yahuda alborey margu se, amma a gay hal a bisa jirbey kaŋ yaŋ i kosu a se.
6David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”
7There went out after him Joab’s men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
7 Yowab borey binde tun k'a ce gana, ngey nda bonkoono doogarey da yaarukomey kulu. I fatta Urusalima zama ngey ma Biciri ize Seba ce gana.
8When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went forth it fell out.
8 Saaya kaŋ cine i to tondi beero do kaŋ go Jibeyon, Amasa kaa zama nga m'i kubay se. Yowab binde gonda nga wongu bankaarayey kaŋ a daŋ, i boŋ gonda guddama, a gonda takuba ga koto mo nga gaa. Kaŋ a go dirawo ra, kala takuba fun ka kaŋ.
9Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
9 Yowab binde ne Amasa se: «Ni go baani, ay nya-izo?» Kala Yowab na Amasa di kaaba gaa da nga kambe ŋwaaro, zama nga m'a garbe sunsum se.
10But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand. So he struck him with it in the body, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn’t strike him again; and he died. Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10 Amma Amasa mana faham nda takuba kaŋ go Yowab kamba ra. Woodin se no a n'a kar gunda gaa haray kal a teeley zorti ka kaŋ ganda. A mana ye k'a kar koyne, Amasa binde bu. Yowab da nga nya izo Abisay na Biciri ize Seba ce gana.
11There stood by him one of Joab’s young men, and said, “He who favors Joab, and he who is for David, let him follow Joab!”
11 Yowab arwasu fo goono ga kay a boŋ. Nga mo ne: «Boro kaŋ ga ba Yowab da boro kaŋ go Dawda do haray, a ma Yowab gana.»
12Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the midst of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him, when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.
12 Amma Amasa goono ga bimbilko nga kuro ra fonda bindi ra. Waato kaŋ cine bora din di kaŋ borey kulu kay, kal a na Amasa sambu k'a ganandi fonda gaa ka kond'a subo ra. Saaya kaŋ cine a faham nda boro kulu kaŋ goono ga kaa nga do ga kay, kal a na bankaaray fo daabu a gaa.
13When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
13 Waato kaŋ i n'a ganandi fonda boŋ, borey kulu na Yowab banda gana zama i ma Biciri izo Seba ce gana.
14He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.
14 Nga mo jin ka Israyla kundey kulu gana kal a kaa hala Abel, da Bayt-Maaka, da Beri dumi kulu. I margu binde k'a gana.
15They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
15 I kaa mo ka wongu marga kayandi a se Abel Bayt-Maaka wano ra. I na laabu gusam citila zama i ma kwaara wongu se, a go ga kay kwaara gaa haray. Jama kulu kaŋ go Yowab do haray soobay ka kwaara birni cinaro doole zama ngey m'a zeeri.
16Then a wise woman cried out of the city, “Hear, hear! Please say to Joab, ‘Come near here, that I may speak with you.’”
16 Waato din gaa no wayboro fo kaŋ gonda laakal kwaara ra n'i ce ka ne: «He, wa maa, wa maa, ay ga araŋ ŋwaaray! Wa ci Yowab se ka ne a ma kaa neewo, ay ma salaŋ a se.»
17He came near to her; and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Hear the words of your handmaid.” He answered, “I do hear.”
17 Kal a maan waybora do. Waybora mo ne a se: «Nin no ga ti Yowab, wala?» A tu ka ne: «Ay no.» Gaa no waybora ne a se: «Ma maa ni koŋŋa sanney.» A tu ka ne: «Ay go ga hangan.»
18Then she spoke, saying, “They were used to say in old times, ‘They shall surely ask counsel at Abel;’ and so they settled it.
18 Waato din gaa waybora salaŋ ka ne: «Waato jirbey ra i doona ka ne: ‹Kal i ma saaware ceeci Abel do, yaadin gaa no sanno ga ban.›
19I am among those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of Yahweh?”
19 Ay no ka bare baani nda boori yaŋ ceecikoy ra Israyla ra. Ni mo, ni go ga ceeci ni ma nya fo halaci Israyla ra, danga kwaara wo nooya. Ifo se no ni go ga ceeci ni ma Rabbi tubo gon?»
20Joab answered, “Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
20 Yowab tu ka ne: «Jam, jam! May ci ay hal ay m'a gon, wala ay m'a halaci?
21The matter is not so. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city.” The woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.”
21 Manti yaadin no sanno bara nd'a. Amma boro fo kaŋ Ifraymu tondey do haray boro no, Biciri izo Seba ga ti a maa, nga no ka tun ka murte Bonkoono Dawda gaa. I m'a nooyandi taray kwaaray, nga hinne. Ay mo, kal ay ma fay da kwaara.» Waybora ne Yowab se: «Guna, i g'a boŋo jindaw ni se a ma cinaro daarandi.»
22Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
22 Gaa no waybora din koy jama do da nga laakalo. I na Biciri ize Seba boŋo dumbu mo, k'a jindaw Yowab do. Nga mo na hilli kar. I say ka fay da kwaara, boro kulu koy nga kwaara do. Yowab mo ye Urusalima, bonkoono do.
