1Then six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
1 A cindi jirbi iddu Paska* bato ma to. Yesu kaa Baytaniya, nango kaŋ Liyaziru go, bora kaŋ Yesu tunandi buukoy game ra.
2So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.
2 Noodin no i te a se hawray. Marta no n'i saajaw, Liyaziru mo go borey ra kaŋ yaŋ go ŋwaaro do.
3Mary, therefore, took a pound a Roman pound of 12 ounces, or about 340 grams of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
3 Maryama binde na kilo jare nardi* ji hanno sambu, kaŋ nooru ga baa. A na waddo soogu Yesu cey boŋ k'a cey tuusu nda nga boŋ hamno. Fuwo kulu to nda waddo hawo.
4Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,
4 Amma Yahuta, Kariyoti bora, kaŋ ga ti Yesu talibey ra afo, nga kaŋ ga ba k'a amaana ŋwa, ne:
5“Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, 300 denarii was about a year’s wages for an agricultural laborer. and given to the poor?”
5 «Ifo se no i mana waddo wo kaŋ ga to danga jiiri fo banandi cine neera ka no talkey se?»
6Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
6 A na woodin ci, manti zama a baa go da talkey no bo, amma zama zay no. Koyne zama nooru foola go a se, a go ga sambu haŋ kaŋ go a ra.
7But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.
8 For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”
8 Zama araŋ gonda talkey araŋ banda alwaati kulu, amma ay si no araŋ do alwaati kulu.»
9A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there, and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
9 Yahudancey jama boobo binde du baaru kaŋ Yesu go noodin. I kaa mo, manti Yesu hinne sabbay se bo, amma zama ngey ma di Liyaziru kaŋ a tunandi buukoy game ra mo.
10But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,
10 Amma alfaga beerey te saaware ngey ma Liyaziru mo wi,
11because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.
11 zama a sabbay se no Yahudance boobo koy ka Yesu cimandi.
12On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
12 A wane suba, jama boobo kaa bato do. Waato kaŋ i maa baaru kaŋ Yesu go kaa Urusalima,
13they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” ! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Psalm 118:25-26 the King of Israel!”
14Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,
14 Yesu mo, waato kaŋ a du farkay binj'ize fo, a goro a boŋ, mate kaŋ i n'a hantum ka ne:
15“Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.” Zechariah 9:9
15 «Ma si humburu, Sihiyona* ize wayo. Guna, ni Bonkoono go kaa. A go ga goro farkay binj'ize boŋ.»
16His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.
17The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying about it.
17 Jama kaŋ go Yesu banda waato kaŋ a na Liyaziru ce a ma fatta saara ra ka tun buukoy game ra goono ga seeda.
18For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”
Guna, ndunnya kulu koy a banda.»
20Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.
20 Gareku fooyaŋ mo go borey game ra kaŋ yaŋ goono ga koy ka sududu bato do.
21These, therefore, came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
21 I binde kaa Filibos do, kaŋ ga ti Baytsayda kwaara kaŋ go Galili laabo ra boro, k'a hã ka ne: «Iri jine bora, iri ga ba iri ma di Yesu.»
22Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.
23Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
23 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Boro Izo beerandiyaŋo saaya to.
24 Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
24 Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: da alkama gurayze mana kaŋ laabo ra ka bu, a ga goro nga hinne. Amma d'a bu, a ga ize boobo hay.
25 He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.
25 Boro kaŋ ga ba nga fundo, a ga daray a se no, amma boro kaŋ ga wangu nga fundo ndunnya wo ra g'a gaay ka kaa fundi hal abada gaa.
26 If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
26 Boro kulu kaŋ ga may ay se, kal a m'ay gana. Naŋ kaŋ ay go mo, noodin no ay tamo ga bara.
27 “Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time?’ But for this cause I came to this time.
27 Sohõ ay fundo go taabi ra. Ifo no ay ga ne? Wala ay m'ay Baaba ŋwaaray a m'ay faaba saaya wo gaa no? Amma woodin sabbay se no ay kaa saaya wo gaa!
28 Father, glorify your name!” Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
28 Ya Baaba, ma ni maa beerandi!» Kala jinde fun beena ra ka ne: «Ay jin k'a beerandi, ay g'a beerandi mo koyne.»
29The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
29 Jama binde kaŋ go ga kay noodin, kaŋ maa r'a, goono ga ne: «Beena dundu.» Boro fooyaŋ mo goono ga ne: «Malayka no ka salaŋ a se.»
30Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.
31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.
31 Sohõ ndunnya wo ciito to, sohõ i ga ndunnya wo koyo gaaray.
32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
32 Ay mo, d'i n'ay sambu beene, ay ga borey kulu candi ay do.»
33But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
33 A goono ga woodin ci no ka cabe buuyaŋ kaŋ dumi no nga ga ba ka bu.
34The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. Isaiah 9:7; Daniel 2:44 (but see also Isaiah 53:8) How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up?’ Who is this Son of Man?”
Mate no kaŋ ni ga ne: tilas kal i ma Boro Izo sambu beene? May ga ti Boro Izo wo?»
35Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.
35 Yesu binde ne i se: «A cindi kayna fo annura go araŋ game ra.
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.
37But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,
37 Amma baa kaŋ a na alaama boobo te i jine, i man'a cimandi,
38that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Isaiah 53:1
38 zama i ma annabi Isaya sanno toonandi, kaŋ a ci ka ne: «Rabbi, may no k'iri baaro cimandi? May se mo no Rabbi kamba bangay?»
39For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again,
39 Woodin sabbay se no i si hin ka cimandi, zama Isaya ye ka ci koyne ka ne:
40“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.” Isaiah 6:10
40 «A n'i moy danandi k'i biney sandandi, zama i moy ma si di, i biney ma si faham hal i ma bare ay do, hal ay m'i no baani.»
41Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. Isaiah 6:1
41 Isaya na sanney wo ci zama a di Yesu darza k'a bumbo ciine te.
42Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,
42 Kulu nda yaadin, baa jine borey ra, iboobo n'a cimandi, amma Farisi fonda borey sabbay se i man'a seeda, zama i ma si ngey kaa Yahudance diina marga ra.
43for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.
43 Zama i ga ba borey do beeray ka bisa Irikoy do wano.
44Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.
44 Yesu binde na nga jinde sambu ka ne: «Boro kaŋ g'ay cimandi, manti ay hinne no a ga cimandi bo, amma nga kaŋ n'ay donton mo.
45 He who sees me sees him who sent me.
45 Boro kaŋ go ga di ay go ga di nga kaŋ n'ay donton mo.
46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.
47 If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
47 Boro kulu kaŋ maa ay sanney, d'a s'i gana mo, ay s'a ciiti, zama ay mana kaa ndunnya ciitiyaŋ se, amma zama ay ma ndunnya faaba.
48 He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.
48 Boro kaŋ ga wangu ay, a s'ay sanney ta mo, a gonda haŋ kaŋ g'a ciiti: sanno kaŋ ay ci din no g'a ciiti zaari bananta ra.
49 For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
49 Zama ay mana ay boŋ sanni salaŋ, amma Baabo kaŋ n'ay donton no k'ay lordi nda haŋ kaŋ ay ga ci da haŋ kaŋ ay ga salaŋ.
50 I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”
50 Ay ga bay mo kaŋ a lordo ga ti fundi hal abada. Hayey kaŋ ay goono ga salaŋ binde, mate kaŋ cine Baabo ci ay se, yaadin no ay mo goono g'i ci.»
