¹Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

¹ Sohõ, hayey kaŋ i ga sarga tooru se ciine ra, ngey neeya: Iri ga bay kaŋ iri boro kulu gonda bayray. Bayray binde ga kande boŋbeeray, amma baakasinay ga jina-koyyaŋ te.

¹Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.

²But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.

² Da boro fo ga tammahã nga ga hay fo bay, a man'a bay jina mate kaŋ cine a ga hima k'a bay.

²If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;

³But if anyone loves God, the same is known by him.

³ Amma boro kaŋ ga ba Irikoy, Irikoy g'a bay.

³but if any man loveth God, the same is known by him.

⁴Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

⁴ Hala boro ga hima ka haŋ kaŋ i sarga tooru se ŋwa binde, to: iri ga bay kaŋ tooru manti hay fo no ndunnya ra. Irikoy kulu si no mo kala afollonka.

⁴Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is [anything] in the world, and that there is no God but one.

⁵For though there are things that are called “gods,” whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many “gods” and many “lords”;

⁵ Zama baa da wo kaŋ yaŋ se i ga ne de-koyyaŋ* go no, d'i go beena ra, wala ganda, mate kaŋ de-koy boobo da koy boobo go no,

⁵For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;

⁶yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

⁶ kulu nda yaadin iri wo se Irikoy folloŋ no go no, Baaba no. Hay kulu, a do no a fun, iri mo go a se. Rabbi folloŋ mo go no, Yesu Almasihu no, kaŋ a do hay kulu bara. Iri mo, a do no iri ga funa.

⁶yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.

⁷However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of the idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

⁷ Amma bayray woodin si boro kulu do. Boro fooyaŋ mo, zama i doona tooru hala hõ, i go ga _hamey din|_ ŋwa danga hay fo no kaŋ i sarga tooru se, hal i biney go g'i foy zama i go ga miila kaŋ ngey go ga ngey boŋ ziibandi, za kaŋ i sinda gaabi.

⁷Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as [of] a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

⁸But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.

⁸ Amma ŋwaari fo si te iri se sabbu Irikoy jine. Da iri man'a ŋwa, iri si zabu. D'iri n'a ŋwa mo, iri si tonton.

⁸But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.

⁹But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.

⁹ Amma araŋ ma haggoy hal araŋ dabaro din ma si ciya taali teeyaŋ sabaabu boro kaŋ sinda gaabi se.

⁹But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak.

¹⁰For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

¹⁰ Zama nda boro fo di nin kaŋ gonda bayray, ni go ga goro ka ŋwa tooru windi ra, manti nga wo kaŋ sinda gaabi kaŋ a bina g'a foy mo, a ga yaaru no ka koy ka ŋwa haŋ kaŋ i sarga tooru se?

¹⁰For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

¹¹And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

¹¹ Ni bayra do mo no, nga kaŋ sinda gaabi ga halaci, nya-ize no kaŋ sabbay se Almasihu bu.

¹¹For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

¹²Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

¹² Waati kaŋ araŋ go ga taali te nya-izey se ya-cine, k'i biney kaŋ sinda gaabi kaŋ g'i foy maray, kulu araŋ go ga zunubi te Almasihu se nooya.

¹²And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ.

¹³Therefore if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forevermore, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble.

¹³ Yaadin gaa, da ŋwaari no g'ay nya-izo daŋ a ma taali te, ay si ham kulu ŋwa hal abada, zama ay ma s'ay nya-izo daŋ a ma taali te.

¹³Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.
