2 Chronicles

6

1Then Solomon said, “Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
1Then spake Solomon, Jehovah hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
2But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever.”
2But I have built thee a house of habitation, and a place for thee to dwell in for ever.
3The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.
3And the king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.
4He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,
4And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying,
5‘Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel:
5 ‹Za hano kaŋ hane ay fun d'ay borey Misira laabo ra, yana gallu kulu suuban Israyla kundey kulu ra kaŋ ga windi cina a ra, zama ay maa ma goro noodin. Yana boro fo kulu suuban mo a ma ciya ay borey Israyla jine boro.
5Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel:
6but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’
6but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
7Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
7 Haya wo binde go ay baabo Dawda bina ra, nga ma windi cina Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo maa se.
7Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.
8But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart:
8 Amma Rabbi ne ay baaba Dawda se: ‹Za kaŋ woodin go ni bina ra, ni ma windi cina ay maa sabbay se, ni boriyandi, za kaŋ woodin go ni bina ra.
8But Jehovah said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house for my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart:
9nevertheless you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come forth out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’
9 Kulu nda yaadin, manti nin no ga windo cina bo, amma ni izo kaŋ ga fun ni gaa baso ra, nga no ga windi cina ay maa sabbay se.›
9nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
10“Yahweh has performed his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
10 Rabbi na nga sanno kaŋ a ci din toonandi mo, zama ay no ka tun ay baabo Dawda kayyaŋ nango ra.
10And Jehovah hath performed his word that he spake; for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and have built the house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.
11There I have set the ark, in which is the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with the children of Israel.”
11And there have I set the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with the children of Israel.
12He stood before the altar of Yahweh in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands
12 Kal a kay Rabbi sargay feema jine, Israyla jama kulu jine. A na nga kambey salle.
12And he stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands
13(for Solomon had made a bronze scaffold, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and on it he stood, and kneeled down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;)
13 Zama Suleymanu jin ka guuru-say tanda te, kaŋ a salleyaŋo ga to kambe kar gu, a tafayyaŋo mo kambe kar gu, a kayyaŋo mo kambe kar hinza. A n'a sinji windo batama bindo ra. A boŋ no nga din kay ka sombu nga kangey boŋ Israyla jama kulu jine, ka nga kambey salle beene haray.
13(for Solomon had made a brazen scaffold, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;)
14and he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven, or on earth; you who keep covenant and loving kindness with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart;
14 A ne: «Ya Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo, Irikoy fo si no beena ra ni cine, wala ndunnya ra, kaŋ gonda alkawli nda baakasinay suuji ga gaay ni tamey se kaŋ goono ga dira ni jine da ngey biney kulu.
14and he said, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven, or on earth; who keepest covenant and lovingkindness with thy servants, that walk before thee with all their heart;
15who have kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him: yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.
Haciika ni salaŋ da ni me, ni n'a toonandi mo da ni kamba, sanda mate kaŋ a go hunkuna.
15who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him: yea, thou spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as it is this day.
16“Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’
16 Sohõ binde, ya Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo, kala ni ma haya kaŋ ni n'a alkawli sambu ni tamo ay baaba Dawda se din toonandi, kaŋ ni ne: ‹I si jaŋ ni se boro ay jine kaŋ ga goro Israyla karga boŋ, hala day ni izey haggoy nda ngey gora, kaŋ ga naŋ i m'ay asariya gana sanda mate kaŋ cine ni gana ay jine.›
16Now therefore, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thy children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as thou hast walked before me.
17Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David.
17Now therefore, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David.
18“But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house which I have built!
18 Amma daahir no Irikoy ga goro borey banda ndunnya ra? A go, beeney da beeney beena, ni si ban i ra, sanku fa binde windo wo kaŋ ay cina.
18But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have builded!
19Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you;
19Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee;
20that your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place where you have said that you would put your name; to listen to the prayer which your servant shall pray toward this place.
20that thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall pray toward this place.
21Listen to the petitions of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: yes, hear from your dwelling place, even from heaven; and when you hear, forgive.
21 Ma hanga jeeri mo ay, ni tamo hẽeno se, da ni jama Israyla wano mo se, waati kaŋ i ga adduwa te ka guna nango wo do haray. Oho, ma maa beene ni nangora ra. Waati kaŋ ni maa mo, kala ni ma yaafa.
21And hearken thou to the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: yea, hear thou from thy dwelling-place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest forgive.
22“If a man sin against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house;
22 Da boro fo na zunubi te nga gorokasin se, hal i na bora daŋ zeyaŋ a ma ze, d'a kaa mo ka ze ni sargay feema jine windo wo ra,
22If a man sin against his neighbor, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and he come [and] swear before thine altar in this house;
23then hear from heaven, and do, and judge your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
23 kala ni ma maa beene. Ma goy ka ciiti ni tamey se. Ni ma boro laalo koy bana k'a goyo candi ka kande a boŋ, ni ma adilante* hanandi ka bana a se mo a adilitara boŋ.
23then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, requiting the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
24“If your people Israel be struck down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall turn again and confess your name, and pray and make supplication before you in this house;
24 Waati kaŋ ni jama Israyla na goobu haŋ ngey ibarey kambe ra, zunubo kaŋ i te ni se din sabbay se, nga no, i ye ka bare ka ni maa seeda, i na adduwa da hẽeni te ni jine ne windo wo ra,
24And if thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house;
25then hear from heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers.
25then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.
26“When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them:
26 Da beena daabu hala beene hari si kaa zama i na zunubi te ni se, hala day i ga adduwa te ka nango wo guna, ka ni maa seeda, i bare mo ka fay da ngey zunubo zama ni n'i taabandi se --
26When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them:
27then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.
27 kala ni ma maa beene. Ma ni tamey zunubo yaafa, da ni jama Israyla wano, hala ni m'i dondonandi fondo hanno kaŋ ra i ga hima ka dira. Ma ye ka hari samba ni laabo wo kaŋ ni na ni jama no tubu din boŋ.
27then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
28“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;
28 Da haray go laabo ra, wala balaaw, wala hayni jiray, wala bunkusyaŋ, wala do, wala nooni, wala nd'i ibarey n'i daŋ game i laabo galley ra; balaaw kulu kaŋ dumi no, wala doori kaŋ goono ga te,
28If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague or whatsoever sickness there be;
29whatever prayer and supplication be made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house:
29 adduwa da ŋwaaray kulu dumi kaŋ i ga te boro fo kulu se, wala mo d'a te ni jama Israyla kulu se, boro kulu ga nga balaaw da nga bine sara bay, d'a na nga kambe salle mo ka nga moyduma ye fuwo wo do haray --
29what prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, who shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house:
30then hear from heaven, your dwelling place and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you, even you only, know the hearts of the children of men;)
30 kala ni ma maa beene kaŋ ga ti ni nangora. Ma yaafa, ma bana boro kulu se nga goyo hina me, zama nin no g'a bina bay. (Zama nin, oho, ni hinne no ga Adam-izey biney bay).
30then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling-place and forgive, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of the children of men;)
31that they may fear you, to walk in your ways, so long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.
31 Zama i ma humburu nin, i ma dira ni fonda ra i fundey me-a-me, laabo kaŋ ni n'i kaayey no din ra.
31that they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
32“Moreover concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he shall come from a far country for your great name’s sake, and your mighty hand, and your outstretched arm; when they shall come and pray toward this house:
32 Yaw sanni mo, nga kaŋ manti ni jama Israyla wane no: d'a fun laabu mooro ka kaa ni maa beera sabbay se, da ni kambe hinkoyo, da ni kambe gaabi sallanta baaru maayaŋ sabbay se, waati kaŋ i kaa ka adduwa te, i goono ga fuwo wo do haray guna,
32Moreover concerning the foreigner, that is not of thy people Israel, when he shall come from a far country for thy great name's sake, and thy mighty hand, and thine outstretched arm; when they shall come and pray toward this house:
33then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, and fear you, as does your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.
I ma bay mo kaŋ windo wo kaŋ ay cina, ni maa no i g'a ce d'a.
33then hear thou from heaven, even from thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the foreigner calleth to thee for; that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
34“If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name;
34 Da ni jama koy ka wongu nda ngey ibarey, fondo kulu kaŋ dumi no ni g'i donton d'a, d'i na adduwa te ni gaa mo, i goono ga moyduma ye gallo wo kaŋ ni suuban do haray, da windo wo kaŋ ay cina ni maa sabbay se,
34If thy people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatsoever way thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
35then hear from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
35 kala ni ma maa i adduwa da i ŋwaarayyaŋo mo beene, m'i sanni gaabandi mo.
35then hear thou from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
36“If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to a land far off or near;
36 I ga zunubi te ni se mo, (zama boro kulu si no kaŋ si zunubi te). Ni mo ga futu i se, ni g'i daŋ ngey ibarey kambe ra, hala ibarey din ma kond'ey ngey laabey ra k'i daŋ tamtaray laabu kaŋ ga mooru, wala kaŋ ga maan.
36If they sin against thee (for there is no man that sinneth not), and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto a land far off or near;
37yet if they shall repent themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly;’
37 Noodin laabo kaŋ i kond'ey ka daŋ tamtaray din ra, i ga ye ka fongu, i ga ye ka tuubi mo, ka ŋwaaray ni gaa noodin i tamtaray laabo ra. I ga ne: ‹Iri na zunubi te, iri na boŋ sanday te, iri na goy laalo te.›
37yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly;
38if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name:
38 I ga bare ka ye ka kaa ni do da ngey biney kulu, da ngey fundey kulu, noodin i tamtaray laabo ra, nango kaŋ ni kond'ey ka daŋ tamtaray din. I ga adduwa te ni gaa ka ngey laabo kaŋ ni n'i kaayey no do haray guna, da gallo kaŋ ni suuban, da windo kaŋ ay cina ni maa sabbay se.
38if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
39then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, their prayer and their petitions, and maintain their cause, and forgive your people who have sinned against you.
39 D'i na woodin kulu te, kala ni ma maa i adduwa d'i ŋwaarayyaŋo beene ni nangora ra. M'i cimo mo no gaabi, ma ni borey kaŋ na zunubi te ni se din yaafa.
39then hear thou from heaven, even from thy dwelling-place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people who have sinned against thee.
40“Now, my God, let, I beg you, your eyes be open, and let your ears be attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.
40 Sohõ binde, ya nin ay Irikoyo, ay ga ni ŋwaaray, ma naŋ ni moy ma bara feerante adduwa gaa kaŋ i ga te nango wo ra, ni hangey mo ma laakal d'a.
40Now, O my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place.
41“Now therefore arise, Yahweh God, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength: let your priests, Yahweh God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in goodness.
41Now therefore arise, O Jehovah God, into thy resting-place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O Jehovah God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.
42“Yahweh God, don’t turn away the face of your anointed. Remember your loving kindnesses to David your servant.”
42O Jehovah God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember [thy] lovingkindnesses to David thy servant.
