Amos

3

1Hear this word that Yahweh has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:
1 Ya araŋ Israyla izey, wa maa sanni woone kaŋ Rabbi te araŋ boŋ, dumo din kulu boŋ kaŋ ay fattandi Misira laabo ra. Ay ne:
1Hear this word that Jehovah hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2“You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.”
2 «Araŋ hinne no ay bay ndunnya dumey kulu ra. Woodin sabbay se no ay g'araŋ goy laaley kulu bana araŋ gaa.
2You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities.
3Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?
3 Boro hinka ga dira care banda da manti i jin ka saba no?
3Shall two walk together, except they have agreed?
4Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?
4 Muusu beeri ga dundu tuuri zugey ra waati kaŋ a sinda ham, wala? Muus'izey ga kaati ngey tondi guuso ra, D'i mana hay fo di, wala?
4Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
5Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch?
5 A ga hin ka te no curayze ma kaŋ hirrimi ra, Naŋ kaŋ i man'a hirri? Wala asuuta sillo ga hin ka sar, a mana hay kulu di?
5Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is [set] for him? shall a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all?
6Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and Yahweh hasn’t done it?
6 I ga wongu hilli kar birni ra, borey ma jaŋ ka humburu? Wala masiiba ga kaa birni gaa, Rabbi mana kand'a no?
6Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shall evil befall a city, and Jehovah hath not done it?
7Surely the Lord Yahweh will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.
7 Daahir mo, Rabbi, Koy Beero si hay kulu te, Kala nd'a n'a gundo bangandi nga tam annabey se jina.
7Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, except he reveal his secret unto his servants the prophets.
8The lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Yahweh has spoken. Who can but prophesy?
8 Muusu beeri dundu, may no si humburu? Rabbi, Koy Beero jin ka salaŋ, may no si annabitaray te?
8The lion hath roared; who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken; who can but prophesy?
9Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.”
9 Wa fe Asdod faadey ra, Da Misira laabo faadey ra mo, ka ne: ‹Wa margu Samariya tondey boŋ ka guna kusuuma beeri kaŋ i te a ra, Da toonye dumi mo kaŋ go a bindo ra.›
9Publish ye in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults are therein, and what oppressions in the midst thereof.
10“Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”
10 Zama borey wo, i si ihanno teeyaŋ bay.» Yaadin no Rabbi ci. «I goono ga toonye da komyaŋ margu ngey faadey ra.»
10For they know not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
11Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered.”
11 Woodin sabbay se no Rabbi, Koy Beero ne: «Yanjekaarey ga laabo kulu windi, I ga ni gaabo zeeri ni se, Ni faadey mo ga ciya wongu arzaka.»
11Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary [there shall be], even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be plundered.
12Thus says Yahweh: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.”
12 Yaa no Rabbi ci: «Sanda mate kaŋ cine hawji ga alman ce hinka wala hanga jare faaba ka kaa muusu beeri meyo ra, Yaadin cine no Israyla izey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga goro daari meyo gaa da swa* daariji boŋ-dake boŋ Samariya ra, I g'i faaba nd'a.
12Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.
13“Listen, and testify against the house of Jacob,” says the Lord Yahweh, the God of Armies.
13 Wa maa, wa seeda te mo Yakuba dumo boŋ,» Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci, Irikoy Kundeykoyo nooya.
13Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts.
14“For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground.
14 «Zama han kaŋ hane ay ga Israyla taaley bana a gaa, Ay ga Betel sargay feemey wano mo bana. I ga feema hilley pati, hal i ma kaŋ ganda.
14For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
15I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end,” says Yahweh.
15 Ay ga kaydiya windo kar, da hargu waate wane mo. Fu-izey kaŋ i taalam da cebeeri hinje ga halaci. Windi bambatey mo ma ban.» Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
15And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith Jehovah.
