Haggai

1

1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
1 Bonkoono Dariyus jiiri hinkanta handu iddanta, hando jirbi sintina ra no Rabbi sanno kaa annabi* Haggay do, Zerubabel Seyaltiyel izo kaŋ ga Yahudiya* may se.
1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
2“This is what Yahweh of Armies says: These people say, ‘The time hasn’t yet come, the time for Yahweh’s house to be built.’”
2 Haŋ kaŋ Rabbi Kundeykoyo ci neeya: Dumi wo go ga ne: «Alwaato mana to kaŋ i ga Rabbi windo cina.»
2Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time [for us] to come, the time for Jehovah's house to be built.
3Then the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet, saying,
3 Waato din gaa no Rabbi sanno kaa annabi Haggay do ka ne:
3Then came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies waste?
4 A mana hima araŋ ma goro araŋ fu taalamantey ra, windi woone binde go kurmu.
4Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your ceiled houses, while this house lieth waste?
5Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Armies says: Consider your ways.
5 Sohõ binde Rabbi Kundeykoyo ne: Wa laakal ye araŋ muraadey gaa.
5Now therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
6You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don’t have enough. You drink, but you aren’t filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it.”
6 Araŋ na iboobo duma, amma araŋ wi kayna fo. Araŋ ŋwa, amma araŋ mana kungu. Araŋ haŋ, amma araŋ mana yesi. Araŋ na bankaaray daŋ, amma araŋ hargu mana fun. Boro kaŋ goono ga du banandi mo goono g'a daŋ zika kaŋ gonda funeyaŋ ra.
6Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages [to put it] into a bag with holes.
7This is what Yahweh of Armies says: “Consider your ways.
7 Haŋ kaŋ Rabbi Kundeykoyo goono ga ci neeya: Wa laakal ye araŋ muraadey gaa.
7Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
8Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,” says Yahweh.
Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
8Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.
9“You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says Yahweh of Armies, “Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.
9 Araŋ tammahã araŋ ga du hari boobo, a go mo, a ciya kayna fo. Waato kaŋ araŋ ye ka kand'a fu mo, ay n'a funsu. Ifo se? Rabbi Kundeykoyo ne: Ay windo sabbay se no, zama a goono ga goro kurmu, amma araŋ goono ga zuru, boro kulu ga koy nga windo ra.
9Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house.
10Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.
10 Araŋ sabbay se no beena wangu ka harandaŋ te, laabo mo goono ga nga nafa ganji.
10Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.
11I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground brings forth, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.”
11And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.
12Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Yahweh, their God , and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as Yahweh, their God, had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh.
12 Waato din gaa Zerubabel, Seyaltiyel izo, da alfaga beero Yesuwa, Yehozadak izo, da jama kulu kaŋ cindi, i na Rabbi ngey Irikoyo sanno gana.
12Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him; and the people did fear before Jehovah.
13Then Haggai, Yahweh’s messenger, spoke Yahweh’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you,” says Yahweh.
13Then spake Haggai Jehovah's messenger in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
14Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Armies, their God,
14 A binde, Zerubabel Seyaltiyel izo kaŋ ga Yahudiya may, da alfaga beero Yesuwa Yehozadak izo, da jama kulu kaŋ cindi din, Rabbi n'i biyey bare hal i kaa ka goy Rabbi Kundeykoyo, ngey Irikoyo windo ra.
14And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
