Hosea

13

1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty in Baal, he died.
1 Waato da Ifraymu ga salaŋ, i ga jijiri no. A na nga boŋ beerandi Israyla ra, Amma waato kaŋ a na taali te Baal sanno ra, kal a bu.
1When Ephraim spake, there was trembling; he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
2Now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, ‘They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves.’
2 Sohõ mo i go ga zunubi te ka tonton ka koy jina, I go ga sooguyaŋ himandi yaŋ te ngey boŋ se da ngey nzarfu i fahamay boŋ, Tooruyaŋ nooya. I kulu, goney goyyaŋ no. Borey ga toorey ciine te ka ne: «Borey kaŋ yaŋ ga sarga, i ma handayzey sunsum.»
2And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
3Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.
3 Woodin se no i ga ciya danga susubay ra buuda cine, Danga harandaŋ kaŋ ga tara ka say, Danga karayaŋ gangani ra du kaŋ haw ga dira nd'a, Danga dullu mo kaŋ ga fun dullu fondo ra.
3Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that passeth early away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
4“Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.
4 Kulu nda yaadin, ay no ga ti Rabbi ni Irikoyo, Za waato kaŋ ni go Misira laabo ra. Ni ma si Irikoy fo bay mo, kala ay, Zama faabako kulu si no, kala ay.
4Yet I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou shalt know no god but me, and besides me there is no saviour.
5I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
5 Ay na ni saajaw saajo ra, koogay laabo ra.
5I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.
6 Mate kaŋ i kuru, yaadin cine no i kungu. Kaŋ i kungu mo i boŋey beeri, Woodin sabbay se no i dinya ay.
6According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted: therefore have they forgotten me.
7Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.
7 Woodin se no ay ga ciya i se danga muusu beeri, Danga mari kaŋ go ga gum fondo me gaa.
7Therefore am I unto them as a lion; as a leopard will I watch by the way;
8I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.
8 Danga urs* kaŋ i n'a izey sambu, Yaadin cine no ay g'i kar. Ay g'i gandey kortu kala binayzey gaa, K'i ŋwa mo danga muusu beeri nya cine, Danga mate kaŋ cine ganji hamey g'i tooru-tooru.
8I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
9You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your help.
9 Ya Israyla, ni halaci! Za kaŋ ni gaaba nda ay, Ay kaŋ ay bumbo no ga ti ni gaakwa.
9It is thy destruction, O Israel, that [thou art] against me, against thy help.
10Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes?’
10 Man gaa ni bonkoono kaŋ ga ni faaba ni kwaarey kulu ra? Man no ni jine borey mo go, Kaŋ yaŋ ni ne i boŋ: «Ay no bonkooni da mayraykoyyaŋ mo»?
10Where now is thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges, of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
11I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.
11 Ay na ni no bonkooni ay futa ra, Ay n'a kaa mo ay futay beero ra.
11I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.
12The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.
12 Ifraymu goy laala go kunsumante, A zunubo mo go jisante.
12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.
13The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son; for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.
13 Hay-zaŋay zumbu a boŋ. Nga wo ize aru no kaŋ sinda laakal, Zama alwaato to a ma si tonton ka gay ize fattayaŋo do.
13The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.
14I will ransom them from the power of Sheol . I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? “Compassion will be hidden from my eyes.
14 Ay g'i faaba Alaahara hino gaa. Ay g'i fansa mo buuyaŋ gaa. Ya buuyaŋ, man ni balaawey go? Ya Alaahara, man ni halaciyaŋo go? Barmayyaŋ si no ay do.
14I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from death: O death, where are thy plagues? O Sheol, where is thy destruction? repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
15Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.
15 Baa day kaŋ a izey baa nga nya-izey game ra, Kulu nda yaadin wayna funay hawo ga kaa. Rabbi funsuyaŋo kaŋ ga fun saajo ra nooya. Ifraymu hari-mwa mo, hawo g'a haro haŋ ka ban, A dayo mo ga koogu. A g'a jisiri nd'a jinay hanno kulu ku.
15Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the breath of Jehovah coming up from the wilderness; and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall make spoil of the treasure of all goodly vessels.
16Samaria will bear her guilt; for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.”
16 Samariya ga nga alhakko jare. Za kaŋ a murte nga Irikoyo gaa, Takuba g'a borey zeeri. Ibarey g'i attaciriyey mumuru. I g'i wayboro gundekoyey mo kortu.
16Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
