Isaiah

28

1Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!
1 Ifraymu bugantey, kaari i boŋbeeray koytaray fuula, D'a darza hanna kaŋ ga hima tuuri boosi kaŋ go ga lakaw, kaŋ go gooru albarkanta ra. Borey kaŋ yaŋ bugu nda duvan gooro nooya!
1Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of them that are overcome with wine!
2Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.
2 A go, Koy Beero gonda hin da gaabi, Danga day hari bambata kaŋ ga kaa da gari, Haw bambata kaŋ ga halacandi, sanda hari bambata kaŋ ga ciya hari-yaa ka bambari, A ga Ifraymu soote-soote kala ganda nda nga kambe.
2Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one; as a tempest of hail, a destroying storm, as a tempest of mighty waters overflowing, will he cast down to the earth with the hand.
3The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.
3 Ifraymu bugantey boŋbeeray koytaray fuula, Ce g'a taamu-taamu.
3The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot:
4The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.
4 A darza hanna ga hima tuuri boosi kaŋ go ga lakaw, Kaŋ go gooru kaŋ gonda albarka ra. A ga hima jeejay hayyaŋ sintina za kaydiya mana to. Jeeja din, za a gunakwa di a, a go a kambe ra mo, Kal a m'a ŋwa ka ban.
4and the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as the first-ripe fig before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.
5In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people;
5 Han din hane, Rabbi Kundeykoyo ga ciya koytaray fuula darzante da boŋtobay hanno nga jama kaŋ cindi yaŋ se.
5In that day will Jehovah of hosts become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people;
6and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
6 A ga ciya mo cimi ciiti biya boro kaŋ goono ga goro ciiti karga boŋ din se. Borey kaŋ goono ga wongu tuti ka ye banda hala birni meyey gaa, a ga ciya i se gaabi.
6and a spirit of justice to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that turn back the battle at the gate.
7They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.
I goono ga diibi-diiba te ciiti dumbuyaŋ ra.
7And even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.
8 Zama yeeri nda kazaamataray go taabaley kulu boŋ ga daaru, Nangu kulu si hanan.
8For all tables are full of vomit [and] filthiness, [so that there is] no place [clean].
9Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
9 May binde no a ga dondonandi bayray? May se no a ga sanni feeri, boro ma du ka bay? Zankey kaŋ yaŋ i kaa wa, i n'i kaa fafa gaa no?
9Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
10For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.
10 Zama lordi fo lordi fo boŋ, lordi fo lordi fo boŋ. Farilla fo farilla fo boŋ, farilla fo farilla fo boŋ, Ne kayna, yongo mo kayna.
10For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little.
11But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language;
11 Yaadin gaa mo, Rabbi ga salaŋ dumo wo se da ciine waani, da mebarawey meyey,
11Nay, but by [men of] strange lips and with another tongue will he speak to this people;
12to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary”; and “This is the refreshing”; yet they would not hear.
12 Ngey kaŋ yaŋ se a ne: «Fulanzamay neeya, Wa fulanzamay no boro kaŋ farga se.» Woone mo, nga no ga ti fundi baani. Amma kulu nda yaadin, i wangu ka maa.
12to whom he said, This is the rest, give ye rest to him that is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13Therefore the word of Yahweh will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.
13 Woodin sabbay se no Rabbi sanno ga ciya i se: Lordi fo lordi fo boŋ, lordi fo lordi fo boŋ. Farilla fo farilla fo boŋ, farilla fo farilla fo boŋ, Ne kayna, yongo mo kayna -- Zama i ma koy ka kaŋ banda-banda ka ceeri, Kumsay m'i di, i ma furo kambe mo.
13Therefore shall the word of Jehovah be unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
14Therefore hear the word of Yahweh, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:
14 Woodin sabbay se binde, ya araŋ donda-caray koyey, Araŋ kaŋ goono ga jama kaŋ go Urusalima ra may. Wa maa Rabbi sanno se.
14Wherefore hear the word of Jehovah, ye scoffers, that rule this people that is in Jerusalem:
15“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’”
15 Zama araŋ ne: «Iri sappe nda buuyaŋ. Iri nda Alaahara gonda amaana. Da barzu kaŋ ga faara ga bisa, A si kaa iri gaa me! Zama iri na tangari te iri koruyaŋ do, Iri tugu mo halliyaŋ cire.»
15Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.
16 Woodin sabbay se binde, Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: «Guna, ay go ga tondi sinji Sihiyona* ra, Tondi suubanante no, tondi darzakoy da daba tabbatante no fuwo se, Boro kaŋ g'a cimandi mo si zinji.
16therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner -[stone] of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste.
17I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.
17 Ay ga cimi ciiti ciya neesiyaŋ korfo, Adilitaray mo y'a te deedandiyaŋ hari. Gari ga tangari koruyaŋ nango haabu ka kaa, Hari-yaa mo ga tuguyaŋ nango yoole.
17And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding-place.
18Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.
18And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”
19 Waati kaŋ a ga bisa kulu, a g'araŋ di, Zama susubay ka koy susubay no a ga bisa, Cin gaa, zaari gaa, Baaro fahamay sinda hay kulu kala humburkumay.»
19As often as it passeth though, it shall take you; for morning by morning shall it pass through, by day and by night: and it shall be nought but terror to understand the message.
20For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.
20 Zama daaro dunguriya hala boro si hin ka salle a boŋ. Daabiro mo kayna hala boro si hin ka didiji a ra.
20For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it; and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
21For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
21 Zama Rabbi ga tun sanda mate kaŋ cine a tun Perazim tondo ra. A ga futu ka jijiri sanda mate kaŋ cine a te Jibeyon gooro ra, Zama nga ma nga goyo te se, A goyo kaŋ ga dambarandi. A ma nga muraadey kaŋ ga dambarandi yaŋ tabbatandi.
21For Jehovah will rise up as in mount Perazim, he will be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
22Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.
22 Sohõ binde, araŋ ma si ciya borey kaŋ ga donda sanno zama araŋ sisirey ma si kankam ka tonton. Zama Rabbi Kundeykoyo do no ay maa kaŋ a na halaciyaŋ kubante waadu ndunnya kulu boŋ.
22Now therefore be ye not scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for a decree of destruction have I heard from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, upon the whole earth.
23Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!
23 Wa hangan ka maa ay jinda. Wa laakal ye ka maa ay sanno.
23Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.
24Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?
24 Mate no, waati kulu no alfari ga soobay ka nangu hanse, A ma nga faro guwey feeri ka bagu-bagu dumayaŋ se?
24Doth he that ploweth to sow plow continually? doth he [continually] open and harrow his ground?
25When he has leveled its surface, doesn’t he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?
25 Abada! D'a na faro batama sasabandi, A ga algaru dumi izo say-say, A ma nga lamto duma, A ma alkama say-say ka sasare, da sayir* nga nango ra, Da haamo mo faro casey gaa.
25When he hath levelled the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and put in the wheat in rows, and the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in the border thereof?
26For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.
26 Zama a Irikoyo goono g'a dondonandi k'a cabe haŋ kaŋ ga saba.
26For his God doth instruct him aright, [and] doth teach him.
27For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.
27 Zama boro si algaru kara nda safayaŋ hari kaŋ ga tin, a si dubi mo bare lamti boŋ. Amma a ga algaru kara nda goobu mariyo, Lamti mo da sari.
27For the fitches are not threshed with a sharp [threshing] instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
28Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it.
28 Boro ga alkama bagu-bagu no? Abada, manti waati kulu no a ga soobay k'a kara. A farmi torko kanga d'a bariyey cey ga gana alkama boŋ, Amma i s'a fufu.
28Bread [grain] is ground; for he will not be always threshing it: and though the wheel of his cart and his horses scatter it, he doth not grind it.
29This also comes forth from Yahweh of Armies, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
29 Woodin mo Rabbi Kundeykoyo do no a ga fun, Nga kaŋ saawara ga dambarandi. Nga kaŋ beeraykoy mo no laakal ra.
29This also cometh forth from Jehovah of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
