1Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence,
1 Sanda mate kaŋ cine danji ga tuuri ize baanoyaŋ ŋwa, Wala mate kaŋ cine danji ga naŋ hari ma zarga, Yaadin cine no ni ga ni maa bayrandi ni ibarey se, Dumi cindey mo ga jijiri ni jine.
1Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence,
2as when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the waters to boil; to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence!
2as when fire kindleth the brushwood, [and] the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
3When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
3 Za doŋ borey mana bay ka maa ni baaru, I mana hanga jeeri, Mo kulu mo mana di Irikoy fo kaŋ waana nin, Ni kaŋ ga goy te boro se kaŋ ga hangan ni se.
3When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence.
4For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides you, who works for him who waits for him.
A go, ni futu zama iri na zunubi te, I ra no iri go za gayyaŋ, Iri ga du faaba mo, wala?
4For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him.
5You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned. We have been in sin for a long time; and shall we be saved?
5 Zama iri kulu ciya sanda haŋ kaŋ si hanan, Iri adilitaray goyey kulu mo ga hima sanda wayboro nyunandi zaara-zaara, Iri kulu goono ga koogu sanda kobto, Iri zunubey mo goono g'iri sambu ka konda iri sanda mate kaŋ cine haw faaru ga te kobto se.
5Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved?
6For we have all become as one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is as a polluted garment: and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
6For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
7There is none who calls on your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities.
7And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities.
8But now, Yahweh, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.
8But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
9Don’t be furious, Yahweh, neither remember iniquity forever: see, look, we beg you, we are all your people.
9 Ni gallu hanantey ciya saaji. Sihiyona ciya saaji, Urusalima ciya kurmu.
9Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, look, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
10Your holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
10 Iri windi hananta kaŋ diyaŋ ga boori, Naŋ kaŋ iri kaayey na ni sifa, danji n'a ŋwa. Hayey kulu kaŋ iri ga ba halaci mo.
10Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
11Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste.
11Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste.
12Will you refrain yourself for these things, Yahweh? Will you hold your peace, and afflict us very severely?
12Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Jehovah? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
