Jeremiah

13

1Thus says Yahweh to me, Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.
1 Yaa no Rabbi ci ay se: Koy ka lin* fatala guddama day. M'a haw ni canta gaa, day ma s'a daŋ hari ra.
1Thus saith Jehovah unto me, Go, and buy thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
2So I bought a belt according to the word of Yahweh, and put it on my waist.
2 Ay binde na guddama day Rabbi sanno boŋ k'ay canta haw d'a.
2So I bought a girdle according to the word of Jehovah, and put it upon my loins.
3The word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying,
3 Kala Rabbi sanno ye ka kaa ay do, sorro hinkanta nooya, ka ne:
3And the word of Jehovah came unto me the second time, saying,
4Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.
4 Ma guddama kaŋ ni day din sambu, kaŋ go ni canta gaa. Ma tun ka koy Ufratis isa ka guddama tugu noodin tondi guusu fo ra.
4Take the girdle that thou hast bought, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.
5So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.
5 Ay binde koy k'a tugu Ufratis meyo gaa, sanda mate kaŋ cine Rabbi n'ay lordi nd'a.
5So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Jehovah commanded me.
6It happened after many days, that Yahweh said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.
6 A go no yaadin, jirbi boobo bisayaŋ banda, kala Rabbi ne ay se: Ma tun ka koy Ufratis. Noodin ni ma guddama kaŋ ay na ni lordi nd'a ka ne ni m'a tugu din sambu ka kande.
6And it came to pass after many days, that Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
7Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
7 Ay binde koy Ufratis. Ay na guddama fansi k'a sambu nango kaŋ ay n'a tugu din ra. A go mo, guddama hasara, a sinda nafa kulu koyne.
7Then I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
8Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
8 Waato din gaa no Rabbi sanno ye ka kaa ay do koyne ka ne:
8Then the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
9Thus says Yahweh, In this way I will mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
9 Yaa no Rabbi ci: Misa woone no ay ga Yahuda boŋbeera da Urusalima boŋbeeray bambata halaci nd'a.
9Thus saith Jehovah, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.
10 Dumi laalo wo kaŋ wangu ka maa ay sanney se, ngey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga dira ngey hanga sanda ra, i na de-koy fooyaŋ gana zama ngey ma may i se, ngey ma sududu i se. To, i ga ciya sanda guddama wo cine, kaŋ si hay kulu hanse koyne.
10This evil people, that refuse to hear my words, that walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is profitable for nothing.
11For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so have I caused to cling to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says Yahweh; that they may be to me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
Amma i wangu ka maa. Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
11For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they may be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
12Therefore you shall speak to them this word: Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall tell you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
12 Woodin se no ni ga sanni woone ci i se: A go, yaa no Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo ci: I ga humbur kulu toonandi nda duvan*. Waati kaŋ i ga ne ni se: «Iri wo, iri mana bay no, ahãa, i ga humbur kulu toonandi nda duvan?»
12Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word: Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
13Then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David’s throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
13 Waato din gaa ni ma ne i se: Yaa no Rabbi ci: Laabo gorokoy kulu, danga bonkooney kaŋ yaŋ goono ga goro Dawda nango ra a karga boŋ, da alfagey, da annabey, da Urusalima gorokoy kulu, ay g'i toonandi nda buguyaŋ.
13Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
14I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says Yahweh: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
14 Ay ga boro nda nga nya-ize soote ngey da care gaa, baabey da izey care banda. Yaadin no Rabbi ci. Ay si suuji i se, ay si jalla i gaa, ay si bakar mo, sanku fa ya fay d'i halaciyaŋo.
14And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith Jehovah: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
15Hear, and give ear; don’t be proud; for Yahweh has spoken.
15 Wa maa, wa hanga jeeri, Wa si te boŋbeeray, zama Rabbi no ka salaŋ.
15Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud; for Jehovah hath spoken.
16Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.
16 Wa darza no Rabbi araŋ Irikoyo se, Za a mana kubay candi ka kande, Hal araŋ ce taamey ma kati tondi kuuku kubaykoyey gaa. Waati kaŋ araŋ goono ga kaari batu, A ga ye k'a ciya bu biya*, da kubay bi tik.
16Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
17But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh’s flock is taken captive.
17 Amma d'araŋ wangu ka maa, Ay bina ga hẽ tuguyaŋ ra araŋ boŋbeera sabbay se. Ay moy mo ga hẽeni korno te, I ma mundi dooru, Zama i ga Rabbi kuro di k'a daŋ tamtaray.
17But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for [your] pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is taken captive.
18Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves, sit down; for your headdresses have come down, even the crown of your glory.
18 Ma salaŋ bonkoono nda nga nyaŋo se ka ne i se: Wa zumbu ganda ka kayna goray te, Zama araŋ darza koytaray fuula ga fun araŋ boŋey boŋ ka kaŋ.
18Say thou unto the king and to the queen-mother, Humble yourselves, sit down; for your headtires are come down, even the crown of your glory.
19The cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open them: Judah is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried away captive.
19 I ga dandi kambe galley daabu nda saafi, Hal i feeriko si no. I ga konda Yahuda tamtaray, I ga kond'a kulu tamtaray ra murkutuk.
19The cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open them: Judah is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried away captive.
20Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?
20 W'araŋ boŋ sambu ka guna ka di borey kaŋ goono ga fun azawa kambe haray. Man gaa no kuro kaŋ i na ni no din go, Ni alman kuru hanna din?
20Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
21What will you say, when he shall set over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? shall not sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
21 Ifo no ni ga ne, Waati kaŋ Rabbi ga ni zuure? Za kaŋ nin no ka ni coro zeeney dondonandi i ma ciya ni jine boroyaŋ. Manti gurzugay ga ni di, Sanda wayboro kaŋ goono ga hay-zaŋay cine?
21What wilt thou say, when he shall set over thee as head those whom thou hast thyself taught to be friends to thee? shall not sorrows take hold of thee, as of a woman in travail?
22If you say in your heart, Why are these things come on me? for the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your heels suffer violence.
22 Da binde ni ne ni bina ra: «Ifo se no hayey din du ay?» To, ni zunubi beero se no i na ni jalli kaa taray, Toonye na ni ce kondey gana.
22And if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore are these things come upon me? for the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts uncovered, and thy heels suffer violence.
23Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
23 Etiyopi boro ga hin ka nga gaaham kuuro himando barme no? Wala mari ga hin ka nga cangara barme no? Da woodin ga te, kulu araŋ mo ga hin ka ihanno te, Araŋ kaŋ doona goy laalo teeyaŋ.
23Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
24Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that passes away, by the wind of the wilderness.
24 Yaadin cine no ay ga jama wo say-say d'a, Sanda du kaŋ saaji haw goono ga faaru.
24Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that passeth away, by the wind of the wilderness.
25This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says Yahweh; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
25 Ni baa nooya, baa kaŋ ay neesi ni se. Yaadin no Rabbi ci. Zama ni dinya ay gaa, ni de tangari gaa mo,
25This is thy lot, the portion measured unto thee from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
26Therefore will I also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame shall appear.
26 Ay wo binde, kala ya ni bankaaray buti hala ni moyduma jine, zama ni haawo ma bangay.
26Therefore will I also uncover thy skirts upon thy face, and thy shame shall appear.
27I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries, and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean; how long shall it yet be?
27 Ay di ni fanta goyey, Kaŋ ga ti ni zina, da ni bubuciyaŋo, Da ni amaana ŋwaari me-hawyaŋo, Kaŋ ni go ga te tudey boŋ da farey ra. Kaari nin, Urusalima! Ni si ba ni ma hanan. Hala waatifo no ni ga yadda?
27I have seen thine abominations, even thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, on the hills in the field. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! thou wilt not be made clean; how long shall it yet be?
