Jeremiah

18

1The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
1 Sanno kaŋ fun Rabbi do ka koy Irimiya do neeya:
1The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
2Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.
2 Ma tun ka koy kusu cinakwa do. Noodin no ay ga naŋ ni ma maa ay sanney.
2Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making a work on the wheels.
3 Ay binde koy kusu cinakwa kwaara. A go mo, a goono ga nga goyo te da mãsin.
3Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he was making a work on the wheels.
4When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
4 Kuso kaŋ a goono ga te da botogo, d'a hasara kusu cinakwa kambe ra, kal a m'a barmay ka kusu fo te koyne, haŋ kaŋ kusu cinakwa di ga kaan nga se no a ga te da botoga.
4And when the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
5 Kala Rabbi sanno kaa ay do ka ne:
5Then the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
6House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter? says Yahweh. Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.
6 Ya Israyla dumo, ifo no ga ganji ay ma te d'araŋ sanda mate kaŋ kusu cinakwa wo te cine? Yaa no Rabbi ci: Guna, sanda botogo kaŋ go kusu cinakwa kambe ra, yaadin cine no araŋ go ay kambe ra, ya Israyla dumo.
6O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
7At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;
7 D'ay na saaware te ndunnya dumi fo boŋ, wala mayray fo boŋ ka ne i m'a bagu, i m'a zeeri, i m'a halaci,
7At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;
8if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
8 amma da alwaati woodin ra dumo kaŋ ay n'a ciine te din ma bare ka fay da nga laalayaŋo, ay mo kal ay ma bare ka fay da masiiba kaŋ ay anniya ay ma goy i boŋ.
8if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
9At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
9 Da mo ay saaware ndunnya dumi fo boŋ, wala mayray fo boŋ ka ne i m'a cina, i m'a tilam,
9And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good, with which I said I would benefit them.
10 amma da alwaati woodin ra a na goy laalo te ay diyaŋ gaa, a mana ay sanno gana, ay mo, kal ay ma bare ka fay da gomno kaŋ ay miila ay ma te i se din.
10if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
11Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return you now everyone from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
11 Sohõ binde, ma salaŋ Yahuda borey da Urusalima gorokoy se, ka ne: Yaa no Rabbi ci: Wa guna, ay ga masiiba sijiri k'a bangandi araŋ boŋ. Ay ga dabari te araŋ se. Wa bare fa! Araŋ boro fo kulu ma nga fondo laala naŋ, w'araŋ muraadey d'araŋ goyey tajandi.
11Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
12But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do everyone after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
12 Amma i go ga ne: «Daama si no, zama iri g'iri boŋ dabarey gana, iri afo kulu mo ma goy nga bine laalakoyo hanga sanda boŋ.»
12But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
13Therefore thus says Yahweh: Ask now among the nations, who has heard such things; the virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.
13 Woodin sabbay se, yaa no Rabbi ci: Wa soobay ka hã dumi cindey ra, May no ka maa hayo wo dumi baa ce fo? Israyla wandiya na fanta hari beeri te.
13Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ask ye now among the nations, who hath heard such things; the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
14Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?
14 Liban neezo* ban tondi batama boŋ no? Wala hari yeeney kaŋ ga zumbu ka fun tudey boŋ koosu no?
14Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? [or] shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?
15For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false gods; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up;
15 Amma ay borey diny'ay gaa. I na dugu ton tooru yaamoyaŋ se. I daŋ ngey boŋ se ngey ma kati ngey fondey gaa, Ka za doŋ fondo zeeney taŋ, Hal i ma fondayze siiro fooyaŋ gana, Manti dabe boŋ bo.
15For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false [gods]; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, in a way not cast up;
16to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.
16 Haya n'i laabo ciya fanta hari da kayna hari hal abada. Boro kaŋ ga bisa kulu no ga dambara ka nga boŋ saku.
16to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.
17I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
17 Ay g'i say-say ngey ibarey jine danga mate kaŋ cine wayna funay haw ga te. Ay ga banda bare i se, kaŋ manti nda moyduma, I masiiba zaaro ra.
17I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18Then they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
18 Waato din gaa no i ne: « Wa kaa, iri ma me haw dabariyaŋ te Irimiya boŋ, zama sikka si asariya si daray alfaga se, saaware si daray laakalkooney se, sanni mo si daray annabey se. Wa kaa, iri m'a kar da deene, iri ma si ye ka laakal ye a sanni baa afolloŋ gaa koyne.»
18Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
19Give heed to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.
19 Ya Rabbi, m'ay guna, Ma maa ay yanjekaarey jinda.
19Give heed to me, O Jehovah, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.
20 I ga gomni bana nda laala no, wala? Zama i na guusu hirrimi fansi ay fundo se. Ma fongu mate kaŋ cine ay kay ni jine nd'a, Zama ay ma gomni sanni salaŋ ni se i sabbay se, Ay ma ni futa hibandi ka kaa i boŋ mo.
20Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.
21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, and their young men struck of the sword in battle.
21 Woodin sabbay se, Kala ni m'i izey daŋ haray kambe ra, Ma ngey bumbey mo no takuba hin se, I wandey ma mursu ngey izey ka ciya goboroyaŋ mo. Buuyaŋ m'i alborey to. Takuba m'i arwasey kar tangami ra mo.
21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, [and] their young men smitten of the sword in battle.
22Let a cry be heard from their houses, when you shall bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
22 I ma maa kaatiyaŋ i windey ra waati kaŋ ni ga wurrandi izeyaŋ candi ka kande i se jirsi boŋ. Zama i na guusu hirrimi fansi ay se zama ngey m'ay di, I na kumsayyaŋ dake deene zama ngey m'ay cey di.
22Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me; don’t forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from your sight; but let them be overthrown before you; deal you with them in the time of your anger.
23 Amma, ya Rabbi, ni ga bay me-hawyaŋ kulu kaŋ i goono ga gurum ay boŋ zama ngey m'ay wi se. Ma si i laalayaŋo yaafa i se, Ma si i zunubey mo tuusu ka kaa ni jine. Amma ma naŋ i ma kati ni jine, Ma te d'ey waati kulu kaŋ ni ga futu.
23Yet, Jehovah, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me; forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight; but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thou with them in the time of thine anger.
