¹The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,

¹The word which came unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,

²Please inquire of Yahweh for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us: perhaps Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

² «Ay ga ni ŋwaaray, ma saaware ceeci ay se Rabbi gaa, zama Babila bonkoono Nebukadnezzar kande iri gaa wongu. Hambara Rabbi ga te iri se nga dambara goyey dumo boŋ, zama bora din ma tun ka fay da iri.»

²Inquire, I pray thee, of Jehovah for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us: peradventure Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

³Then Jeremiah said to them, You shall tell Zedekiah:

³ Kala Irimiya ne i se: Haŋ kaŋ araŋ ga ci Zedeciya se neeya:

³Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:

⁴Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city.

⁴ Yaa no Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo ci: Wa guna, wongu jinayey kaŋ go araŋ kambey ra, kaŋ yaŋ araŋ ga Babila bonkoono wongu nd'a, ngey nda Kaldancey kaŋ yaŋ n'araŋ daŋ game gallo banda, wongu jinay din, kal ay m'i bare, m'i margu-margu ka kand'ey hala gallo wo bindo ra.

⁴Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans that besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city.

⁵I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation.

⁵ Ay bumbo mo no ga wongu nd'araŋ, ay kambe go sallante nda jase gaabikooni, da dukuri, da futay. Oho, futay korno no ay g'a te d'a.

⁵And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation.

⁶I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal: they shall die of a great pestilence.

⁶ Ay ga gallo wo gorokoy kar, boro nda alman, i ga bu da balaaw bambata.

⁶And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.

⁷Afterward, says Yahweh, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.

⁷ Yaa no Rabbi ci: Woodin banda mo koyne, ay ga Yahuda bonkoono Zedeciya daŋ, nga nda nga tamey, d'a jama, da borey kaŋ yaŋ du ka balaawo da takuba da hara yana gallo ra. Ay g'i daŋ Babila bonkoono Nebukadnezzar kambe ra, kaŋ ga ti i ibarey kambe ra, ngey kaŋ yaŋ goono g'i fundey ceeci. A g'i kar da takuba. A si jalla i gaa, a si bakar i se, a si suuji te i se mo.

⁷And afterward, saith Jehovah, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.

⁸To this people you shall say, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.

⁸And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.

⁹He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes out, and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey.

⁹ Boro kaŋ goro gallo wo ra, takuba, da haray, da balaaw no g'a wi. Amma boro kaŋ fatta ka koy ka kaŋ Kaldancey kambe ra, kaŋ yaŋ n'araŋ koli ka windi nda wongu, bora din ga funa, a ga yana nda nga fundo.

⁹He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he that goeth out, and passeth over to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.

¹⁰For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good, says Yahweh: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

¹⁰ Yaa no Rabbi ci: Zama ay n'ay moyduma sinji gallo wo boŋ da masiiba miila, kaŋ manti gomni wane no. Ay g'a daŋ Babila bonkoono kambe ra, nga mo g'a ton da danji.

¹⁰For I have set my face upon this city for evil, and not for good, saith Jehovah: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

¹¹Touching the house of the king of Judah, hear the word of Yahweh:

¹¹ Ni ma ne Yahuda bonkoono banda se mo: Wa maa Rabbi sanno.

¹¹And touching the house of the king of Judah, hear ye the word of Jehovah:

¹²House of David, thus says Yahweh, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

¹² Ya Dawda dumo, yaa no Rabbi ci: Wa cimi ciiti te susubay kulu. Wa borey kaŋ yaŋ i goono ga kom faaba ngey komkoy kambe ra, Zama ay futa ma si fatta sanda danji cine ka ton hala boro si no kaŋ ga hin k'a wi, Araŋ goyey laalayaŋo sabbay se.

¹²O house of David, thus saith Jehovah, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

¹³Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, says Yahweh; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

¹³ Ya nin gooro ra gorokwa, da tondi batama wano mo, Ay ga gaaba nda nin. Yaadin no Rabbi ci. Araŋ kaŋ goono ga ne: «May no ga hin ka zumbu ka kaa iri gaa? May no ga hin ka furo iri nangorayey ra?»

¹³Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, [and] of the rock of the plain, saith Jehovah; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

¹⁴I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says Yahweh; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is around her.

¹⁴ Amma ay ga ciiti araŋ se araŋ goyey boŋ. Yaadin no Rabbi ci. Ya danji tusu araŋ saajo gaa, Kaŋ ga hay kulu kaŋ go a windanta ŋwa ka ban.

¹⁴And I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith Jehovah; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is round about her.
