Joshua

6

1Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.
1 I go no, Israyla izey na Yeriko me-d'a-me daabu. Boro kulu si fatta, boro kulu si furo.
1Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.
2 Rabbi ne Yasuwa se mo: «Guna, ni kambe ra no ay na Yeriko d'a koyo, d'a soojey daŋ.
2And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.
3All your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.
3 Araŋ ga birno windi d'araŋ wongu borey kulu ka birno casu sorro fo. Jirbi iddu no ni ga woodin te.
3And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
4 Alfaga iyye mo ga feeji hilli iyye sambu, i ma furo sundurko jine. Zaari iyyanta hane araŋ ma birno windi hala sorro iyye, alfagey go ga hilley kar.
4And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
5 Waati kaŋ cine i na karyaŋo kuukandi, waati kaŋ araŋ mo maa hilley kaatiyaŋey, kala jama kulu ma ngey jindey tunandi nda gaabi ka kuuwa. Birno cinaro mo ga kaŋ, jama kulu mo ga kaaru, boro kulu nga jine tak-tak.»
5And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.
6Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh.”
Alfaga iyye mo ma feeji hilli iyye sambu. I ma furo Rabbi sundurko jine.»
6And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of Jehovah.
7They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”
7 I ne jama se: «Wa bisa ka birno windi. Wongu jinaykoyey mo ma furo Rabbi sundurko jine.»
7And they said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let the armed men pass on before the ark of Jehovah.
8It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced, and blew the trumpets; and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed them.
8 Saaya kaŋ cine Yasuwa salaŋ jama se binde, kala alfaga* iyye kaŋ yaŋ go ga feeji hilli iyya gaay Rabbi jine, i bisa ka furo jina ka hilley kar. Rabbi sappa sundurko mo go g'i banda gana.
8And it was so, that, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before Jehovah passed on, and blew the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah followed them.
9The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.
9 Wongu jinaykoyey go alfaga hilli karey jine, banda borey go ga dake sundurko gaa. Alfagey mo go ga dira ka hilley kar.
9And the armed men went before the priests that blew the trumpets, and the rearward went after the ark, [the priests] blowing the trumpets as they went.
10Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”
10And Joshua commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.
11So he caused the ark of Yahweh to go around the city, going about it once. Then they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
A n'a casu sorro fo ka ye ka kaa gata ra ka zumbu.
11So he caused the ark of Jehovah to compass the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.
12And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Jehovah.
13The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh went on continually, and blew the trumpets: and the armed men went before them. The rear guard came after the ark of Yahweh. The trumpets sounded as they went.
13 Alfaga iyya kaŋ yaŋ go ga feeji hilli iyya jare Rabbi sundurko jine, i soobay ka dira jine, i go ga hilley kar. Wongu jinaykoyey go i jine, banda waney mo go ga dake Rabbi sundurko gaa. Alfagey ga dira ka hilley kar.
13And the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of Jehovah went on continually, and blew the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; and the rearward came after the ark of Jehovah, [the priests] blowing the trumpets as they went.
14The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
14 Jirbi hinkanta i na birno casu ce fo, gaa no i ye ka kaa dunkayo do. Yaadin no i te kala zaari iddu.
14And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.
15It happened on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. Only on this day they marched around the city seven times.
Zaari woodin hinne no i na birno casu sorro iyye.
15And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on the day they compassed the city seven times.
16It happened at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!
16 A ciya mo, sorro iyyanta waate day, waato kaŋ cine alfagey na hilley kar, Yasuwa ne borey se: «Wa kuuwa! zama Rabbi na birno no araŋ se.
16And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for Jehovah hath given you the city.
17The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
17 Birno ga ciya Rabbi wane, laaliyaŋ hari no araŋ se, nga nda hay kulu kaŋ go a ra. Rahab hinne, kaaruwa din, nga no ga funa, nga nda borey kaŋ yaŋ go a banda windo ra kulu, zama a na diyey kaŋ iri donton yaŋ din tugu.
17And the city shall be devoted, even it and all that is therein, to Jehovah: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so would you make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
Yaadin gaa araŋ ga Israyla marga te laalante k'a taabandi mo.
18But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when ye have devoted it, ye take of the devoted thing; so would ye make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
19But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”
I ga kand'ey Rabbi jisiri nango ra.»
19But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy unto Jehovah: they shall come into the treasury of Jehovah.
20So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets. It happened, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
20So the people shouted, and [the priests] blew the trumpets; and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
21 Hay kulu kaŋ go birno ra, i n'i halaci saray: alboro nda wayboro zankey da arkusu zeeney, haw da feeji da farkayey. I n'i kulu halaci da takuba.
21And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
22Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring out from there the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.”
22And Joshua said unto the two men that had spied out the land, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.
23The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
23 Ma-carare sahãkooney din binde furo Rahab windo ra. I na Rahab d'a baabo, d'a nyaŋo, d'a nya-ka-fo-siney, da hay kulu kaŋ go a se, d'a dumey kulu mo kaa taray. I n'i kaa taray k'i ye Israyla borey banda.
23And the young men the spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; all her kindred also they brought out; and they set them without the camp of Israel.
24They burnt the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.
24And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Jehovah.
25But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lived in the midst of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
25 Amma kaaruwa Rahab da nga baabo almayaaley, da hay kulu kaŋ go a se, Yasuwa n'i naŋ da fundi. A goro mo Israyla game ra, hala ka kaa sohõ, zama nga no ka diyey kaŋ yaŋ Yasuwa donton i ma koy ka Yeriko guna din tugu.
25But Rahab the harlot, and her father's household, and all that she had, did Joshua save alive; and she dwelt in the midst of Israel unto this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh, who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up its gates.”
26 Yasuwa ye ka sanno da zeyaŋo gaabandi i se koyne alwaati woodin ra ka ne: «Laalante no Rabbi jine, bora kaŋ tun ka ne nga ga birni woone Yeriko cina: A hay-jine mursay no a g'a daba cina nd'a. A ize koda mursay mo no a g'a me-daabirjey sinji nd'a.»
26And Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Jehovah, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: with the loss of his first-born shall he lay the foundation thereof, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
27So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
27 Yaadin no Rabbi go Yasuwa banda, a maa baaro mo koy laabo ra nangu kulu.
27So Jehovah was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
