Nehemiah

4

1But it happened that when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
1 Amma a ciya, waato kaŋ Sanballat maa iri goono ga birno windanta cina, kal a futu, a dukur gumo. A na Yahudancey hahaara mo.
1But it came to pass that, when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burned?”
2 A salaŋ nga nya-izey da Samariya wongu marga jine mo ka ne: «Yahudance londibuuney wo binde, ifo no i goono ga te? I ga ngey boŋ gaabandi no? I ga sargayyaŋ te no? I ga ban parkatak zaari folloŋ no? I ga ye ka tondey funandi laabu gusamo wo ra kaŋ go, a te begunu, wo kaŋ yaŋ i n'i ton, wala?»
2And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, seeing they are burned?
3Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”
3 Tobiya Amonance binde go a jarga. Nga mo ne: «Haya kaŋ i goono ga cina binde, baa da zoŋo kaaru a boŋ, kal a m'i tondi cinaro bagu ka zeeri!»
3Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they are building, if a fox go up, he shall break down their stone wall.
4“Hear, our God; for we are despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity;
4 Ya iri Irikoyo, ma maa, zama i goono ga donda iri! M'i wowo bare k'a ye i boŋ! M'i nooyandi i ma ciya laabu fo wongu arzaka.
4Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn back their reproach upon their own head, and give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity;
5don’t cover their iniquity, and don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”
5 Ma si i laalayaŋo daabu. Ma si i zunubey tuusu mo ni jine, za kaŋ i na cinakoy futandi.
5and cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee; for they have provoked [thee] to anger before the builders.
6So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height: for the people had a mind to work.
6 Yaadin cine no iri na birno cinaro te d'a. Cinaro kulu binde margu ka kubay hala nd'a beene kuuyaŋo jara, zama jama gonda goyo anniya.
6So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto half [the height] thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
7But it happened that when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, then they were very angry;
7 Amma a ciya, waato kaŋ Sanballat da Tobiya da Laarabey da Amonancey da Asdod borey du baaru kaŋ Urusalima birni cinaro goono ga koy jina, hala mo i sintin ka kortimey kulu lutu, kal i futu.
7But it came to pass that, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, [and] that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth;
8and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein.
8 I kulu binde na me haw care banda ka ne ngey ga kaa ka Urusalima wongu, ka kusuuma tunandi noodin.
8and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein.
9But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
9 Amma iri wo n'iri adduwa te iri Irikoyo gaa. I sabbay se mo no iri na batukoyaŋ daŋ cin da zaari cinakoy se.
9But we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
10Judah said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.”
10 Yahuda kunda borey mo ne: «Jaraw sambukoy gaabo gaze. Fisi go mo ga gusam parkatay, hala iri si hin ka birni cinaro cina.»
10And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
11Our adversaries said, “They shall not know, neither see, until we come into their midst, and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”
11 Iri ibarey mo ne: «I si bay, i si di mo, kal iri ma kaa i bindo ra k'i wi, ka naŋ goyo ma ban.»
11And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
12It happened that when the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
12 A ciya binde, Yahudancey kaŋ yaŋ go i jarga da goray, i kaa ka soobay ka ci iri se hala sorro way, ka ne: «Nangu kulu kaŋ araŋ bare, i day ga kaa iri gaa.»
12And it came to pass that, when the Jews that dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times from all places, Ye must return unto us.
13Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
13 Woodin sabbay se no, nangey kaŋ yaŋ ga guusu ka bisa cinaro banda, batamey ra, ay na boroyaŋ daŋ i windi borey banda kaŋ yaŋ gonda takubayaŋ da yaajiyaŋ d'i birawey.
13Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set [there] the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
14I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
14And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, who is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
15It happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone to his work.
15 I go no mo, waato kaŋ iri ibarey maa kaŋ iri du ngey me-hawyaŋo baaru, hala mo Irikoy n'i saawara ciya yaamo, kal iri kulu bare ka ye birni cinaro do haray. Boro kulu ye nga goyo do.
15And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
16It happened from that time forth, that half of my servants worked in the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
16 A ciya binde, alwaati woodin ka koy jina, ay zanka jarey na saajaw te goyo ra. I boro jarey mo gonda yaaji, da koray, da biraw, da guuru kwaay ga gaay. Mayraykoyey mo go Yahuda dumo kulu banda _k'i batu|_,
16And it came to pass from that time forth, that half of my servants wrought in the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
17They all built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands worked in the work, and with the other held his weapon;
17 ngey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga birni cinaro cina. Jinay jarekoy mo, saaya kaŋ i go ga jinayey jare, i boro fo kulu ga goy nda nga kambe fo goyo ra, a kambe fa mo ga wongu jinayey gaay.
17They all builded the wall and they that bare burdens laded themselves; every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other held his weapon;
18and the builders, everyone wore his sword at his side, and so built. He who sounded the trumpet was by me.
18 Cinakoy mo, i afo kulu gonda nga takuba ga koto nga gaa, yaadin cine no i cina nd'a. Hilli karkwa mo go ay do.
18and the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
19I said to the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, “The work is great and large, and we are separated on the wall, one far from another.
19 Ay ne laabukoyey da mayraykoyey da jama cindo se: «Goyo wo, ibambata no, ibeeri mo no. Iri go mo fay-fayante yaŋ no cinaro boŋ, borey ga mooru care se.
19And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another:
20Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally there to us. Our God will fight for us.”
20 To, nangu kulu kaŋ araŋ maa hilli jinde, wa margu ka kaa noodin iri do. Iri Irikoyo mo ga wongu iri se.»
20in what place soever ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us; our God will fight for us.
21So we worked in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars appeared.
21 Yaadin cine binde no iri na goyo te d'a: i boro jare gonda yaaji ga gaay za wayna funyaŋ kal a koy to handariyayzey bangayyaŋ waate cine.
21So we wrought in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
22Likewise at the same time said I to the people, “Let everyone with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labor in the day.”
22 Alwaati woodin ra binde ay ne borey se: «Naŋ boro kulu nda nga zanka ma zumbuyaŋ do te Urusalima ra, zama i ma ciya batukoyaŋ iri se cin haray. Zaari mo i ma goy te.»
22Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labor in the day.
23So neither I, nor my brothers, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me, none of us took off our clothes. Everyone took his weapon to the water.
23 Ay bumbo nd'ay nya-izey, d'ay zankey, da borey kaŋ goono ga batu kaŋ yaŋ go g'ay gana, iri ra baa boro folloŋ mana nga bankaarayey kaa. Boro kulu mo gonda nga yaajo da nga haro.
23So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard that followed me, none of us put off our clothes, every one [went with] his weapon [to] the water.
