¹Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?

¹And Naomi her mother-in-law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

²Now isn’t Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he winnows barley tonight in the threshing floor.

² Guna Buwaza neeya kaŋ ni go a koŋŋey banda, manti iri dumi no? A go, hunkuna cin a ga sayir* faaru karayaŋo do.

²And now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to-night in the threshing-floor.

³Therefore wash yourself, anoint yourself, get dressed, and go down to the threshing floor, but don’t make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.

³ Ni ma nyumay ka ji tuusu, ka ni boŋ daabu ka koy karayaŋo do, amma ma si ni boŋ bangandi a se, kala waati kaŋ a ŋwa ka haŋ ka ban.

³Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the threshing-floor, but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

⁴It shall be, when he lies down, that you shall mark the place where he shall lie, and you shall go in, and uncover his feet, and lay down; then he will tell you what you shall do.”

⁴ A ga ciya mo, waati kaŋ a ga kani, ma laakal da nango kaŋ a ga kani. Waato din gaa ma furo ka daabiro kaa a cey gaa ka kani noodin. Nga mo ga ci ni se haŋ kaŋ no ni ga te.»

⁴And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

⁵She said to her, “All that you say I will do.”

⁵ Ruta ne a se: «Hay kulu kaŋ ni ci, ay g'a te.»

⁵And she said unto her, All that thou sayest I will do.

⁶She went down to the threshing floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law told her.

⁶ A koy karayaŋo do ka te mate kulu kaŋ cine anzura ci a se.

⁶And she went down unto the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.

⁷When Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. She came softly, uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

⁷ Waato kaŋ Buwaza ŋwa ka haŋ, a bina ga kaan mo, kal a koy ntasso gusamo banda zama nga ma kani. Ruta mo kaa moso-moso, ka daabiro kaa a ce taamey gaa, ka kani noodin.

⁷And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

⁸It happened at midnight, that the man was startled and turned himself; and behold, a woman lay at his feet.

⁸ A ciya mo, hala cin bindi, albora humburu. A bare ya-cine day, kala wayboro fo go ga kani nga cey do haray.

⁸And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself; and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

⁹He said, “Who are you?” She answered, “I am Ruth your handmaid. Therefore spread your skirt over your handmaid; for you are a near kinsman.”

⁹ A ne a se: «Nin no may?» Ruta mo tu ka ne: «Ay no ni koŋŋa Ruta. Ma ni daabiro feeri ni koŋŋa boŋ, zama ni ya dumi no kaŋ ga maan.»

⁹And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thy handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thy handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

¹⁰He said, “Blessed are you by Yahweh, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as you didn’t follow young men, whether poor or rich.

¹⁰ Buwaza ne: «Ya ay izo, Rabbi ma ni albarkandi. Gomni woone kaŋ ni kokor ka cabe, a bisa ijina, za kaŋ ni mana arwasey suuban, hala noorukooni no wala talka no.

¹⁰And he said, Blessed be thou of Jehovah, my daughter: thou hast showed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

¹¹Now, my daughter, don’t be afraid; I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people does know that you are a worthy woman.

¹¹ Sohõ, ay izo, ma si humburu. Hay kulu kaŋ ni ci, ay g'a te ni se, zama kwaaro wo gorokoy kulu bay kaŋ ni gonda boro-hannotaray.

¹¹And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou sayest; for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a worthy woman.

¹²Now it is true that I am a near kinsman; however there is a kinsman nearer than I.

¹² Cimi no ay ya ni dumi kaŋ ga maan no, amma kulu nda yaadin, dumi fo go no kaŋ maan ka bisa ay.

¹²And now it is true that I am a near kinsman; howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

¹³Stay this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform for you the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part. But if he will not do the part of a kinsman for you, then will I do the part of a kinsman for you, as Yahweh lives. Lie down until the morning.”

¹³ Ma kani hunkuna. A ga ciya, waati kaŋ mo bo, da bora din te ni se haŋ kaŋ ga hima kay, to, a boori, a ma dumitaray goy te. Da mo a mana te ni se mate kaŋ ga hagu dumi ma te mo, ay ga te wo kaŋ ga hagu dumi gaa a ma te, ay ze da Rabbi. Ma ni kaniyaŋ te noodin hala mo ma bo.»

¹³Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as Jehovah liveth: lie down until the morning.

¹⁴She lay at his feet until the morning. She rose up before one could discern another. For he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”

¹⁴ Kal a kani Buwaza cey do haray kala mo bo. A tun za waati kaŋ boro si hin ka boro bay, zama Buwaza ne: «I ma si bay hala wayboro kaa karayaŋo do.»

¹⁴And she lay at his feet until the morning. And she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing-floor.

¹⁵He said, “Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it.” She held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; and he went into the city.

¹⁵ Buwaza ne a se mo: «Kande daabiro kaŋ go ni boŋo gaa k'a gaay.» A binde n'a gaay. Buwaza na sayir muudu iddu neesi ka no a se. Gaa no Buwaza furo birno ra.

¹⁵And he said, Bring the mantle that is upon thee, and hold it; and she held it; and he measured six [measures] of barley, and laid it on her: and he went into the city.

¹⁶When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did it go, my daughter?” She told her all that the man had done to her.

¹⁶ Waato kaŋ Ruta kaa nga anzura do a ne: «Ya ay izo, nin no may?» Kala Ruta ci nga anzura se mate kulu kaŋ albora te nga se.

¹⁶And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

¹⁷She said, “He gave me these six measures of barley; for he said, ‘Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’”

¹⁷ A ye ka ne: «Sayir muudu iddu neeya kaŋ a n'ay no. Zama a ne: ‹Ma si koy kambe koonu ni anzura do.› »

¹⁷And she said, These six [measures] of barley gave he me; for he said, Go not empty unto thy mother-in-law.

¹⁸Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will fall; for the man will not rest, until he has finished the thing this day.”

¹⁸ Kala Neyomi mo ne: «Ya ay izo, ma goro ne ka hangan haŋ kaŋ ga te, zama bora din si fulanzam bo, kala nd'a na sanno ban hunkuna.»

¹⁸Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall; for the man will not rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
