¹For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.

¹Sheria ya Wayahudi si picha kamili ya mambo yale halisi: ni kivuli tu cha mema yanayokuja. Dhabihu zilezile hutolewa daima, mwaka baada ya mwaka. Sheria yawezaje, basi, kwa njia ya dhabihu hizo, kuwafanya wale wanaoabudu wawe wakamilifu?

²Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?

²Kama hao watu wanaomwabudu Mungu wangekuwa wametakaswa dhambi zao kweli, hawangejisikia tena kuwa na dhambi, na dhabihu hizo zote zingekoma.

³But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.

³Lakini dhabihu hizo hufanyika kila mwaka kuwakumbusha watu dhambi zao.

⁴For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

⁴Maana damu ya fahali na mbuzi haiwezi kamwe kuondoa dhambi.

⁵Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, “Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire, but you prepared a body for me;

⁵Ndiyo maana Kristo alipokuwa anakuja ulimwenguni, alimwambia Mungu: "Hukutaka dhabihu wala sadaka, lakini umenitayarishia mwili.

⁶Sadaka za kuteketezwa au za kuondoa dhambi hazikupendezi.

⁷Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me) to do your will, O God.’” Psalm 40:6-8

⁷Hapo nikasema: Niko hapa ee Mungu, tayari kufanya mapenzi yako kama ilivyoandikwa juu yangu katika kitabu cha Sheria."

⁸Previously saying, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law),

⁸Kwanza alisema: "Hutaki, wala hupendezwi na dhabihu na sadaka, sadaka za kuteketezwa na za kuondoa dhambi." Alisema hivyo ingawa sadaka hizi zote hutolewa kufuatana na Sheria.

⁹then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,

⁹Kisha akasema: "Niko hapa, ee Mungu, tayari kufanya mapenzi yako." Hivyo Mungu alibatilisha dhabihu za zamani na mahali pake akaweka dhabihu nyingine moja.

¹⁰by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹⁰Kwa kuwa Yesu Kristo alitimiza mapenzi ya Mungu, sisi tunatakaswa dhambi zetu kwa ile dhabihu ya mwili wake aliyotoa mara moja tu, ikatosha.

¹¹Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,

¹¹Kila kuhani Myahudi humhudumia Mungu kila siku, akitoa dhabibu zilezile mara nyingi, dhabibu ambazo haziwezi kuondoa dhambi.

¹²but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

¹²Lakini Kristo alitoa dhabihu moja tu kwa ajili ya dhambi, dhabihu ifaayo milele, kisha akaketi upande wa kulia wa Mungu.

¹³from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.

¹³Huko anangoja mpaka adui zake watakapowekwa kama kibao chini ya miguu yake.

¹⁴For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

¹⁴Basi, kwa dhabihu yake moja tu, amewafanya kuwa wakamilifu milele wale wanaotakaswa dhambi zao.

¹⁵The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

¹⁵Naye Roho Mtakatifu anatupa ushahidi wake. Kwanza anasema:

¹⁶“This is the covenant that I will make with them: ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’” Jeremiah 31:33 then he says,

¹⁶"Hili ndilo agano nitakalofanya nao, katika siku zijazo, asema Bwana: Nitaweka sheria zangu mioyoni mwao, na kuziandika akilini mwao."

¹⁷“I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.” Jeremiah 31:34

¹⁷Kisha akaongeza kusema: "Sitakumbuka tena dhambi zao, wala vitendo vyao vya uhalifu."

¹⁸Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

¹⁸Basi, dhambi zikisha ondolewa, hakutakuwa na haja tena ya kutoa dhabihu za kuondoa dhambi.

¹⁹Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

¹⁹Basi, ndugu, kwa damu ya Yesu tunapewa moyo thabiti wa kuingia Mahali Patakatifu.

²⁰by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

²⁰Yeye ametufungulia njia mpya na yenye uzima kupitia lile pazia, yaani kwa njia ya mwili wake mwenyewe.

²¹and having a great priest over God’s house,

²¹Basi, tunaye kuhani maarufu aliye na mamlaka juu ya nyumba ya Mungu.

²²let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

²²Kwa hiyo tumkaribie Mungu kwa moyo mnyofu na imani timilifu, kwa mioyo iliyotakaswa dhamiri mbaya, na kwa miili iliyosafishwa kwa maji safi.

²³let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

²³Tushikilie imara tumaini lile tunalokiri, maana Mungu aliyefanya ahadi zake ni mwaminifu.

²⁴Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,

²⁴Tujitahidi kushughulikiana kwa ajili ya kuongezeana bidii ya kupendana na kutenda mema.

²⁵not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

²⁵Tusiache ile desturi ya kukutana pamoja, kama vile wengine wanavyofanya. Bali tunapaswa kusaidiana kwani, kama mwonavyo, Siku ile ya Bwana inakaribia.

²⁶For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,

²⁶Maana, tukiendelea kutenda dhambi makusudi baada ya kufahamu ukweli, hakuna dhabihu iwezayo kutolewa tena kwa ajili ya kuondoa dhambi.

²⁷but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.

²⁷Linalobaki ni kungojea tu kwa hofu hukumu ya Mungu na moto mkali utakaowaangamiza wote wanaompinga.

²⁸A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.

²⁸Mtu yeyote asiyeitii Sheria ya Mose, huuawa bila ya huruma kukiwa na ushahidi wa watu wawili au watatu.

²⁹How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

²⁹Je, mtu yule anayempuuza Mwana wa Mungu na kuidharau damu ya agano la Mungu iliyomtakasa, mtu anayemtukana Roho wa Mungu, anastahili kupata adhabu kali ya namna gani?

³⁰For we know him who said, “Vengeance belongs to me,” says the Lord, “I will repay.” Deuteronomy 32:35 Again, “The Lord will judge his people.” Deuteronomy 32:36; Psalm 135:14

³⁰Maana tunamfahamu yule aliyesema, "Mimi nitalipiza kisasi, mimi nitalipiza," na ambaye alisema pia, "Bwana atawahukumu watu wake."

³¹It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

³¹Kuanguka mikononi mwa Mungu aliye hai ni jambo la kutisha mno!

³²But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;

³²Kumbukeni yaliyotokea siku zile za kwanza mlipoangaziwa mwanga wa Mungu. Ingawa siku zile mlipatwa na mateso mengi, ninyi mlistahimili.

³³partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions; and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.

³³Mara nyingine mlitukanwa na kufedheheshwa hadharani; mara nyingine mlikuwa radhi kuungana na wale walioteswa namna hiyohiyo.

³⁴For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.

³⁴Mlishiriki mateso ya wafungwa, na mliponyang'anywa mali yenu mlistahimili kwa furaha, maana mlijua kwamba mnayo mali bora zaidi na ya kudumu milele.

³⁵Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

³⁵Basi, msipoteze uhodari wenu, maana utawapatieni tuzo kubwa.

³⁶For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

³⁶Mnahitaji kuwa na uvumilivu, ili mweze kufanya anayotaka Mungu na kupokea kile alichoahidi.

³⁷“In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait.

³⁷Maana kama yasemavyo Maandiko: "Bado kidogo tu, na yule anayekuja, atakuja, wala hatakawia.

³⁸But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” Habakkuk 2:3-4

³⁸Lakini mtu wangu aliye mwadilifu ataamini na kuishi; walakini akirudi nyuma, mimi sitapendezwa naye."

³⁹But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

³⁹Basi, sisi hatumo miongoni mwa wale wanaorudi nyuma na kupotea, ila sisi tunaamini na tunaokolewa.
