¹ “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.

¹Yesu aliwaambia, "Msifadhaike mioyoni mwenu. Mwaminini Mungu, niaminini na mimi pia.

² In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

²Nyumbani mwa Baba yangu mna makao mengi; la sivyo ningalikwisha waambieni. Sasa nakwenda kuwatayarishieni nafasi.

³ If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

³Na nikienda na kuwatayarishieni nafasi, nitarudi na kuwachukueni kwangu, ili nanyi muwe pale nilipo mimi.

⁴ Where I go, you know, and you know the way.”

⁴Mnajua njia ya kwenda huko ninakokwenda."

⁵Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

⁵Thoma akamwuliza, "Bwana, hatujui unakokwenda, tutawezaje basi, kuijua hiyo njia?"

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

⁶Yesu akamjibu, "Mimi ni njia, na ukweli na uzima. Hakuna awezaye kwenda kwa Baba ila kwa kupitia kwangu.

⁷ If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.”

⁷Ikiwa mnanijua mimi mnamjua na Baba yangu pia. Na tangu sasa, mnamjua, tena mmekwisha mwona."

⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

⁸Filipo akamwambia, "Bwana, tuonyeshe Baba, nasi tutatosheka."

⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’

⁹Yesu akamwambia, "Filipo, nimekaa nanyi muda wote huu, nawe hujanijua? Aliyekwisha niona mimi amemwona Baba. Unawezaje basi, kusema: Tuonyeshe Baba?

¹⁰ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.

¹⁰Je, huamini kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba, naye Baba yuko ndani yangu? Maneno ninayowaambieni nyote siyasemi kwa mamlaka yangu; Baba aliye ndani yangu anafanya kazi yake.

¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

¹¹Mnapaswa kuniamini ninaposema kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba naye Baba yuko ndani yangu. Ama sivyo, aminini kwa sababu ya mambo ninayofanya.

¹² Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

¹²Kweli nawaambieni, anayeniamini atafanya mambo ninayofanya mimi; naam, atafanya hata makuu zaidi, maana nakwenda kwa Baba.

¹³ Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹³Na chochote mtakachoomba kwa jina langu nitafanya, ili Baba atukuzwe ndani ya Mwana.

¹⁴ If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁴Mkiniomba chochote kwa jina langu, nitawafanyieni.

¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁵"Mkinipenda mtazishika amri zangu.

¹⁶ I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, Greek Parakleton: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Comforter. that he may be with you forever,—

¹⁶Nami nitamwomba Baba naye atawapeni Msaidizi mwingine, atakayekaa nanyi milele.

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

¹⁷Yeye ni Roho wa kweli. Ulimwengu hauwezi kumpokea kwa sababu hauwezi kumwona wala kumjua. Lakini ninyi mnamjua kwa sababu anabaki nanyi na yu ndani yenu.

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.

¹⁸"Sitawaacha ninyi yatima; nitakuja tena kwenu.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

¹⁹Bado kidogo nao ulimwengu hautaniona tena, lakini ninyi mtaniona; na kwa kuwa mimi ni hai, nanyi pia mtakuwa hai.

²⁰ In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

²⁰Siku ile itakapofika mtajua kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba, nanyi mko ndani yangu, nami ndani yenu.

²¹ One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”

²¹Azipokeaye amri zangu na kuzishika, yeye ndiye anipendaye. Naye anipendaye mimi atapendwa na Baba yangu, nami nitampenda na kujidhihirisha kwake."

²²Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”

²²Yuda (si yule Iskarioti) akamwambia, "Bwana, itawezekanaje wewe kujidhihirisha kwetu na si kwa ulimwengu?"

²³Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

²³Yesu akamjibu, "Mtu akinipenda atashika neno langu, na Baba yangu atampenda, nasi tutakuja kwake na kukaa naye.

²⁴ He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

²⁴Asiyenipenda hashiki maneno yangu. Na neno mlilosikia si langu, bali ni lake Baba aliyenituma.

²⁵ I have said these things to you, while still living with you.

²⁵"Nimewaambieni mambo haya nikiwa bado pamoja nanyi

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

²⁶lakini Msaidizi, Roho Mtakatifu, ambaye Baba atamtuma kwa jina langu, atawafundisheni kila kitu na kuwakumbusheni yote niliyowaambieni.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

²⁷"Nawaachieni amani; nawapeni amani yangu. Siwapi ninyi kama vile ulimwengu ufanyavyo. Msiwe na wasiwasi, wala msifadhaike.

²⁸ You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.

²⁸Mlikwisha sikia nikiwaambieni: Ninakwenda zangu, kisha nitarudi tena kwenu. Kama mngalinipenda mngalifurahi kwa sababu ninakwenda kwa Baba, maana yeye ni mkuu kuliko mimi.

²⁹ Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.

²⁹Nimewaambieni haya sasa kabla hayajatokea, ili yatakapotokea mpate kuamini.

³⁰ I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.

³⁰Sitasema nanyi tena mambo mengi, maana mtawala wa ulimwengu huu anakuja. Kwangu mimi hawezi kitu;

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

³¹lakini ulimwengu unapaswa kujua kwamba nampenda Baba, na ndiyo maana nafanya kila kitu kama Baba alivyoniamuru. Simameni, tutoke hapa!"
