¹When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage, TR & NU read “Bethphage” instead of “Bethsphage” to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

¹Yesu na wanafunzi wake walipokaribia Yerusalemu na kufika Bethfage katika mlima wa Mizeituni, aliwatuma wanafunzi wake wawili,

²saying to them, “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me.

²akawaambia, "Nendeni hadi kijiji kilicho mbele yenu na mtamkuta punda amefungwa na mtoto wake. Wafungueni mkawalete kwangu.

³ If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

³Kama mtu akiwauliza sababu, mwambieni, Bwana anawahitaji, naye atawaachieni mara."

⁴All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

⁴Jambo hili lilifanyika ili yale yaliyosemwa na nabii yatimie:

⁵“Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9

⁵"Uambieni mji wa Sioni: Tazama, Mfalme wako anakujia! Ni mpole na amepanda punda, mwana punda, mtoto wa punda."

⁶The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them,

⁶Hivyo, wale wanafunzi walienda wakafanya kama Yesu alivyowaagiza.

⁷and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.

⁷Wakamleta yule punda na mtoto wake, wakatandika nguo zao juu yao na Yesu akaketi juu yake.

⁸A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.

⁸Umati mkubwa wa watu ukatandaza nguo zao barabarani, na watu wengine wakakata matawi ya miti wakayatandaza barabarani.

⁹The multitudes who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Psalm 118:26

⁹Makundi ya watu waliomtangulia na wale waliomfuata wakapaaza sauti: "Hosana Mwana wa Daudi! Abarikiwe huyo ajaye kwa jina la Bwana! Hosana Mungu juu mbinguni!"

¹⁰When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”

¹⁰Yesu alipokuwa anaingia Yerusalemu, mji wote ukajaa ghasia. Watu wakawa wanauliza, "Huyu ni nani?"

¹¹The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”

¹¹Watu katika ule umati wakasema, "Huyu ni nabii Yesu, kutoka Nazareti katika mkoa wa Galilaya."

¹²Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.

¹²Basi, Yesu akaingia Hekaluni, akawafukuza nje watu waliokuwa wanauza na kununua vitu ndani ya Hekalu; akazipindua meza za wale waliokuwa wanavunja fedha, na viti vya wale waliokuwa wanauza njiwa.

¹³He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ Isaiah 56:7 but you have made it a den of robbers!” Jeremiah 7:11

¹³Akawaambia, "Imeandikwa katika Maandiko Matakatifu: Nyumba yangu itaitwa nyumba ya sala. Lakini ninyi mmeifanya kuwa pango la wanyang'anyi."

¹⁴The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.

¹⁴Vipofu na vilema walimwendea huko Hekaluni, naye Yesu akawaponya.

¹⁵But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant,

¹⁵Basi, makuhani wakuu na walimu wa Sheria walipoyaona maajabu aliyoyafanya Yesu, na pia watoto walipokuwa wanapaaza sauti zao Hekaluni wakisema: "Sifa kwa Mwana wa Daudi," wakakasirika.

¹⁶and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?’” Psalm 8:2

¹⁶Hivyo wakamwambia, "Je, husikii wanachosema?" Yesu akawajibu, "Naam, nasikia! Je hamjasoma Maandiko haya Matakatifu? Kwa vinywa vya watoto wadogo na wanyonyao unajipatia sifa kamilifu."

¹⁷He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

¹⁷Basi, akawaacha, akatoka nje ya mji na kwenda Bethania, akalala huko.

¹⁸Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.

¹⁸Yesu alipokuwa anarudi mjini asubuhi na mapema, aliona njaa.

¹⁹Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, “Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away.

¹⁹Akauona mtini mmoja kando ya njia, akauendea; lakini aliukuta hauma chochote ila majani matupu. Basi akauambia, "Usizae tena matunda milele!" Papo hapo huo mtini ukanyauka.

²⁰When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”

²⁰Wanafunzi walipouona walishangaa wakisema, "Kwa nini mtini huu umenyauka ghafla?"

²¹Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith, and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.

²¹Yesu akawajibu, "Kweli nawaambieni, kama mkiwa na imani bila kuwa na mashaka, mnaweza si tu kufanya hivyo, bali hata mkiuambia mlima huu: Ng'oka ukajitose baharini, itafanyika hivyo.

²² All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

²²Na mkiwa na imani, chochote mtakachoomba katika sala, mtapata."

²³When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?”

²³Yesu aliingia Hekaluni, akawa anafundisha. Alipokuwa akifundisha, makuhani wakuu na wazee wa watu wakamwuliza, "Unafanya mambo haya kwa mamlaka gani? Nani amekupa mamlaka haya?"

²⁴Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

²⁴Yesu akawajibu, "Na mimi nitawaulizeni swali moja; mkinijibu, basi nami nitawaambieni ninafanya mambo haya kwa mamlaka gani.

²⁵ The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?” They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

²⁵Je, mamlaka ya Yohane ya kubatiza yalitoka kwa nani? Je, yalitoka mbinguni ama kwa watu?" Lakini wakajadiliana wao kwa wao hivi: "Tukisema, Yalitoka mbinguni, atatuuliza, Basi, mbona hamkumsadiki?

²⁶But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.”

²⁶Na tukisema, Yalitoka kwa watu, tunaogopa umati wa watu maana wote wanakubali kwamba Yohane ni nabii."

²⁷They answered Jesus, and said, “We don’t know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

²⁷Basi, wakamjibu, "Hatujui!" Naye Yesu akawaambia, "Nami pia sitawaambieni ninafanya mambo haya kwa mamlaka gani.

²⁸ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’

²⁸"Ninyi mnaonaje; mtu mmoja alikuwa na wana wawili. Akamwambia yule wa kwanza, Mwanangu, leo nenda ukafanye kazi katika shamba la mizabibu.

²⁹ He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went.

²⁹Yule kijana akamwambia, Sitaki! Lakini baadaye akabadili nia, akaenda kufanya kazi.

³⁰ He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but he didn’t go.

³⁰Yule baba akamwambia mtoto wake wa pili vivyo hivyo, naye akamjibu, Naam baba! Lakini hakwenda kazini.

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.

³¹Je, ni nani kati ya hawa wawili aliyetimiza matakwa ya baba yake?" Wakamjibu, "Yule mtoto wa kwanza." Basi, Yesu akawaambia, "Kweli nawaambieni, watoza ushuru na waasherati wataingia katika Ufalme wa Mungu kabla yenu.

³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.

³²Maana Yohane alikuja kwenu akawaonyesha njia njema ya kuishi, nanyi hamkumwamini; lakini watoza ushuru na waasherati walimwamini. Hata baada ya kuona hayo yote ninyi hamkubadili mioyo yenu, na hamkusadiki."

³³ “Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.

³³Yesu akasema, "Sikilizeni mfano mwingine. Mtu mmoja mwenye nyumba alilima shamba la mizabibu; akalizungushia ukuta, akachimba kisima cha kusindikia divai, akajenga humo mnara pia. Kisha akalikodisha kwa wakulima, akasafiri kwenda nchi ya mbali.

³⁴ When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruit.

³⁴Wakati wa mavuno ulipofika, aliwatuma watumishi wake kwa wale wakulima, ili wakachukue sehemu ya mavuno yake.

³⁵ The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

³⁵Wale wakulima wakawakamata hao watumishi; mmoja wakampiga, mwingine wakamwua na mwingine wakampiga mawe.

³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way.

³⁶Huyo mtu akawatuma tena watumishi wengine, wengi kuliko wa safari ya kwanza. Wale wakulima wakawatendea namna ileile.

³⁷ But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

³⁷Mwishowe akamtuma mwanawe huku akifikiri: Watamheshimu mwanangu.

³⁸ But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’

³⁸Lakini wale wakulima walipomwona mwanawe wakasemezana wao kwa wao: Huyu ndiye mrithi; na tumuue ili tuuchukue urithi wake!

³⁹ So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.

³⁹Basi, wakamkamata, wakamtoa nje ya lile shamba la mizabibu, wakamwua.

⁴⁰ When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”

⁴⁰"Sasa, huyo mwenye shamba la mizabibu atakapokuja, atawafanyaje hao wakulima?"

⁴¹They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season.”

⁴¹Wao wakamjibu, "Atawaangamiza vibaya hao waovu, na lile shamba atawapa wakulima wengine ambao watampa sehemu ya mavuno wakati wa mavuno."

⁴²Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?’ Psalm 118:22-23

⁴²Hapo Yesu akawaambia, "Je, hamkusoma jambo hili katika Maandiko Matakatifu? Jiwe walilokataa waashi sasa limekuwa jiwe kuu la msingi. Bwana ndiye aliyefanya jambo hili, nalo ni la ajabu sana kwetu!

⁴³ “Therefore I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruit.

⁴³"Kwa hiyo nawaambieni, Ufalme wa Mungu utaondolewa kwenu na kupewa watu wa mataifa mengine wenye kutoa matunda yake."

⁴⁴ He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”

⁴⁴"Atakayeanguka juu ya jiwe hilo atavunjika vipandevipande; na likimwangukia mtu yeyote, litamponda."

⁴⁵When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.

⁴⁵Makuhani wakuu na Mafarisayo waliposikia hiyo mifano yake walitambua kwamba alikuwa anawasema wao.

⁴⁶When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.

⁴⁶Kwa hiyo wakawa wanatafuta njia ya kumtia nguvuni, lakini waliwaogopa watu kwa sababu wao walimtambua yeye kuwa nabii.
