¹Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared Yahweh. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves.”

¹தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய புத்திரரில் ஒருவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்த ஒரு ஸ்திரீ எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியானாகிய என் புருஷன் இறந்துபோனான்; உமது அடியான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடந்தான் என்பதை அறிவீர்; கடன் கொடுத்தவன் இப்போது என் இரண்டு குமாரரையும் தனக்கு அடிமைகளாக்கிக்கொள்ளவந்தான் என்றாள்.

²Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me: what do you have in the house?” She said, “Your handmaid has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil.”

²எலிசா அவளை நோக்கி: நான் உனக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்? வீட்டில் உன்னிடத்தில் என்ன இருக்கிறது சொல் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: ஒரு குடம் எண்ணெய் அல்லாமல் உமது அடியாளுடைய வீட்டில் வேறொன்றும் இல்லை என்றாள்.

³Then he said, “Go, borrow containers from of all your neighbors, even empty containers. Don’t borrow just a few.

³அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ போய், உன்னுடைய அயல்வீட்டுக்காரர் எல்லாரிடத்திலும் அநேகம் வெறும்பாத்திரங்களைக் கேட்டுவாங்கி,

⁴You shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those containers; and you shall set aside that which is full.”

⁴உள்ளேபோய், உன் பிள்ளைகளுடன் உள்ளே நின்று கதவைப் பூட்டி, அந்தப் பாத்திரங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் வார்த்து, நிறைந்ததை ஒரு பக்கத்தில் வை என்றான்.

⁵So she went from him, and shut the door on her and on her sons; they brought the containers to her, and she poured out.

⁵அவள் அவனிடத்திலிருந்துபோய், தன் பிள்ளைகளுடன் கதவைப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டு, இவர்கள் பாத்திரங்களை அவளிடத்தில் கொடுக்க, அவள் அவைகளில் வார்த்தாள்.

⁶It happened, when the containers were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another container.” He said to her, “There isn’t another container.” The oil stopped flowing.

⁶அந்தப் பாத்திரங்கள் நிறைந்தபின், அவள் தன் மகன் ஒருவனை நோக்கி: இன்னும் ஒரு பாத்திரம் கொண்டுவா என்றாள். அதற்கு அவன்: வேறே பாத்திரம் இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது எண்ணெய் நின்றுபோயிற்று.

⁷Then she came and told the man of God. He said, “Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”

⁷அவள் போய் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்கு அதை அறிவித்தாள். அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ போய் அந்த எண்ணெயை விற்று, உன் கடனைத் தீர்த்து, மீந்ததைக்கொண்டு நீயும் உன் பிள்ளைகளும் ஜீவனம் பண்ணுங்கள் என்றான்.

⁸It fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman; and she persuaded him to eat bread. So it was, that as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat bread.

⁸பின்பு ஒரு நாள் எலிசா சூனேமுக்குப் போயிருக்கும்போது, அங்கேயிருந்த கனம்பொருந்திய ஒரு ஸ்திரீ அவனை போஜனம்பண்ண வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள்; அப்படியே அவன் பயணப்பட்டு வருகிறபோதெல்லாம் போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி அங்கே வந்து தங்குவான்.

⁹She said to her husband, “See now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passes by us continually.

⁹அவள் தன் புருஷனை நோக்கி: இதோ, நம்மிடத்தில் எப்போதும் வந்துபோகிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய இவர் பரிசுத்தவான் என்று காண்கிறேன்.

¹⁰Please let us make a little room on the wall. Let us set for him there a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand. It shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in there.”

¹⁰நாம் மெத்தையின்மேல் ஒருசிறிய அறைவீட்டைக் கட்டி, அதில் அவருக்கு ஒரு கட்டிலையும், மேஜையையும், நாற்காலியையும், குத்துவிளக்கையும் வைப்போம்; அவர் நம்மிடத்தில் வரும்போது அங்கே தங்கலாம் என்றாள்.

¹¹One day he came there, and he turned into the room and lay there.

¹²He said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had called her, she stood before him.

¹²அவன் தன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய கேயாசை நோக்கி: இந்தச் சூனேமியாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அவளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்; அவள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றாள்.

¹³He said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Behold, you have cared for us with all this care. What is to be done for you? Would you like to be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the army?’” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.”

¹³அவன் கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, இப்படிப்பட்ட சகல சலக்கரணையோடும் எங்களை விசாரித்து வருகிறாயே, உனக்கு நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் ராஜாவினிடத்திலாவது சேனாபதியினிடத்திலாவது உனக்காக நான் பேசவேண்டிய காரியம் உண்டோ என்று அவளைக் கேள் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: என் ஜனத்தின் நடுவே நான் சுகமாய்க் குடியிருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

¹⁴He said, “What then is to be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Most certainly she has no son, and her husband is old.”

¹⁴அவளுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்று கேயாசியை அவன் கேட்டதற்கு; அவன், அவளுக்குப் பிள்ளை இல்லை, அவள் புருஷனும் பெரிய வயதுள்ளவன் என்றான்.

¹⁵He said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the door.

¹⁵அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவளைக் கூப்பிடு என்றான்; அவளைக் கூப்பிட்டபோது, அவள் வந்து வாசற்படியிலே நின்றாள்.

¹⁶He said, “At this season, when the time comes around, you will embrace a son.” She said, “No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid.”

¹⁶அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஒரு பிராண உற்பத்திகாலத்திட்டத்திலே ஒருகுமாரனை அணைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்பாய் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: ஏது? தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, உமது அடியாளுக்கு அபத்தம் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றாள்.

¹⁷The woman conceived, and bore a son at that season, when the time came around, as Elisha had said to her.

¹⁷அந்த ஸ்திரீ கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, எலிசா தன்னோடே சொன்னபடி, ஒரு உற்பத்திகாலத்திட்டத்தில் ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

¹⁸When the child was grown, it happened one day that he went out to his father to the reapers.

¹⁸அந்தப் பிள்ளை வளர்ந்தான், ஒரு நாள் அவன் அறுப்பறுக்கிறவர்களிடத்திலிருந்த தன் தகப்பனண்டைக்குப் போயிருக்கும்போது,

¹⁹He said to his father, “My head! My head!” He said to his servant, “Carry him to his mother.”

²⁰When he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees until noon, and then died.

²⁰அவனை எடுத்து, அவன் தாயினிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனபோது, அவன் மத்தியானமட்டும் அவள் மடியில் இருந்து செத்துப்போனான்.

²¹She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door on him, and went out.

²¹அப்பொழுது அவள் ஏறிப்போய், அவனை தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் கட்டிலின்மேல் வைத்து, அவன் வைக்கப்பட்ட அறையின் கதவைப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய்,

²²She called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the servants, and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.”

²²தன் புருஷனிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: நான் சீக்கிரமாய் தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் இருக்கும் இடமட்டும் போய்வரும்படிக்கு; வேலைக்காரரில் ஒருவனையும் ஒருகழுதையையும் எனக்கு அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

²³He said, “Why would you want go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.” She said, “It’s alright.”

²³அப்பொழுது அவன்: இது அமாவாசியும் அல்ல ஓய்வு நாளும் அல்லவே; நீ இன்றைக்கு அவரிடத்துக்குப் போகவேண்டியது என்ன என்று கேட்கச் சொன்னான். அதற்கு அவள்: எல்லாம் சரிதான், நான் போகவேண்டியதிருக்கிறது என்று சொல்லியனுப்பி,

²⁴Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, “Drive, and go forward! Don’t slow down for me, unless I ask you to.”

²⁴கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து ஏறி, தன் வேலைக்காரனை நோக்கி: இதை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோ; நான் உனக்குச் சொன்னால் ஒழிய, போகிற வழியில் எங்கும் ஓட்டத்தை நிறுத்தாதே என்று சொல்லிப் புறப்பட்டு,

²⁵So she went, and came to the man of God to Mount Carmel. It happened, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, “Behold, there is the Shunammite.

²⁵கர்மேல் பர்வதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்திற்குப் போனாள்; தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் தூரத்திலே அவளை வரக்கண்டு, தன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: அதோ சூனேமியாள் வருகிறாள்.

²⁶Please run now to meet her, and ask her, ‘Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?’” She answered, “It is well.”

²⁶நீ அவளுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு ஓடி, நீ சுகமாயிருக்கிறாயா? உன் புருஷன் சுகமாயிருக்கிறானா? அந்தப் பிள்ளை சுகமாயிருக்கிறதா என்று அவளிடத்தில் கேள் என்றான். அவள்: சுகந்தான் என்று சொல்லி,

²⁷When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, “Leave her alone; for her soul is troubled within her; and Yahweh has hidden it from me, and has not told me.”

²⁷பர்வதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்தில் வந்து, அவன் காலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டாள்; அப்பொழுது கேயாசி அவளை விலக்கிவிட வந்தான்; தேவனுடைய மனுஷன்: அவளைத் தடுக்காதே; அவள் ஆத்துமா துக்கமாயிருக்கிறது; கர்த்தர் அதை எனக்கு அறிவியாமல் மறைத்துவைத்தார் என்றான்.

²⁸Then she said, “Did I desire a son of my lord? Didn’t I say, Do not deceive me?”

²⁸அப்பொழுது அவள், நான் என் ஆண்டவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குமாரனை வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டதுண்டா? எனக்கு அபத்தம் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்று நான் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றாள்.

²⁹Then he said to Gehazi, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, don’t greet him; and if anyone greets you, don’t answer him again. Then lay my staff on the face of the child.”

²⁹அப்பொழுது அவன் கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: நீ உன் இடையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, என் தடியை உன் கையில் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, வழியில் ஒருவனைச் சந்தித்தாலும் அவனை வினவாமலும், உன்னை ஒருவன் வினவினாலும் அவனுக்கு மறுமொழி சொல்லாமலும் போய், என் தடியை அந்தப் பிள்ளையின் முகத்தின்மேல் வை என்றான்.

³⁰The mother of the child said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” He arose, and followed her.

³⁰பிள்ளையின் தாயோ: நான் உம்மை விடுகிறதில்லை என்று கர்த்தரின் ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்திருந்து அவள் பின்னே போனான்.

³¹Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Therefore he returned to meet him, and told him, saying, “The child has not awakened.”

³¹கேயாசி அவர்களுக்கு முன்னே போய், அந்தத் தடியைப் பிள்ளையின் முகத்தின்மேல் வைத்தான்; ஆனாலும் சத்தமும் இல்லை, உணர்ச்சியும் இல்லை; ஆகையால் அவன் திரும்பி அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்து: பிள்ளை விழிக்கவில்லை என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தான்.

³²When Elisha had come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid on his bed.

³²எலிசா வீட்டிற்குள் வந்தபோது, இதோ, இந்தப் பிள்ளை அவன் கட்டிலின்மேல் செத்துக்கிடந்தான்.

³³He went in therefore, and shut the door on them both, and prayed to Yahweh.

³⁴He went up, and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands. He stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child grew warm.

³⁴கிட்டேபோய், தன் வாய் பிள்ளையின் வாயின்மேலும், தன் கண்கள் அவன் கண்களின்மேலும், தன் உள்ளங்கைகள் அவன் உள்ளங்கைகளின்மேலும் படும்படியாக அவன்மேல் குப்புறப் படுத்துக்கொண்டான்; அப்பொழுது பிள்ளையின் உடல் அனல்கொண்டது.

³⁵Then he returned, and walked in the house once back and forth; and went up, and stretched himself on him. Then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

³⁵அவன் எழுந்து, அறைவீட்டில் இங்கும் அங்கும் உலாவி, திரும்பக்கிட்டப் போய் அவன்மேல் குப்புறப்படுத்தான்; அப்பொழுது அந்தப் பிள்ளை ஏழுதரம் தும்மித் தன் கண்களைத் திறந்தான்.

³⁶He called Gehazi, and said, “Call this Shunammite!” So he called her. When she had come in to him, he said, “Take up your son.”

³⁶அப்பொழுது அவன்: கேயாசியைக் கூப்பிட்டு, அந்தச் சூனேமியாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அவளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்; அவள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது; அவன், உன் குமாரனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோ என்றான்.

³⁷Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground; and she took up her son, and went out.

³⁷அப்பொழுது அவள் உள்ளே போய், அவன் பாதத்திலே விழுந்து, தரைமட்டும் பணிந்து, தன் குமாரனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வெளியே போனாள்.

³⁸Elisha came again to Gilgal. There was a famine in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, “Set on the great pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”

³⁸எலிசா கில்காலுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய் இருக்கையில், தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிற்று; தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர், அவனுக்கு முன்பாக உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; அவன் தன் வேலைக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ பெரிய பானையை அடுப்பிலே வைத்துத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரருக்குக் கூழ்காய்ச்சு என்றான்.

³⁹One went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered of it wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of stew; for they didn’t recognize them.

³⁹ஒருவன் கீரைகளைப் பறிக்க வெளியிலேபோய், ஒரு பேய்க்கொம்மட்டிக் கொடியைக் கண்டு, அதன் காய்களை மடிநிறைய அறுத்துவந்து, அவைகளை அரிந்து கூழ்ப்பானையிலே போட்டான்; அது இன்னதென்று அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியாதிருந்தது.

⁴⁰So they poured out for the men to eat. It happened, as they were eating of the stew, that they cried out, and said, “Man of God, there is death in the pot!” They could not eat of it.

⁴⁰சாப்பிட அதை ஜனங்களுக்கு வார்த்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் அந்தக் கூழில் எடுத்துச் சாப்பிடுகிறபோது, அதைச் சாப்பிடக்கூடாமல்: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, பானையில் சாவு இருக்கிறது என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.

⁴¹But he said, “Then bring meal.” He cast it into the pot; and he said, “Pour out for the people, that they may eat.” There was no harm in the pot.

⁴¹அப்பொழுது அவன், மாவைக் கொண்டுவரச்சொல்லி, அதைப் பானையிலே போட்டு, ஜனங்கள் சாப்பிடும்படி அவர்களுக்கு வார் என்றான்; அப்புறம் பானையிலே தோஷம் இல்லாமற்போயிற்று.

⁴²A man from Baal Shalishah came, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and fresh ears of grain in his sack. He said, “Give to the people, that they may eat.”

⁴²பின்பு பாகால் சலீஷாவிலிருந்து ஒரு மனுஷன் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்கு முதற்பலனான வாற்கோதுமையின் இருபது அப்பங்களையும் தாள் கதிர்களையும் கொண்டுவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஜனங்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடக்கொடு என்றான்.

⁴³His servant said, “What, should I set this before a hundred men?” But he said, “Give the people, that they may eat; for thus says Yahweh, ‘They will eat, and will have some left over.’”

⁴³அதற்கு அவனுடைய பணிவிடைக்காரன்: இதை நான் நூறுபேருக்கு முன் வைப்பது எப்படி என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: அதை ஜனங்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடக்கொடு; சாப்பிட்ட பிற்பாடு இன்னும் மீதியுண்டாயிருக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

⁴⁴So he set it before them, and they ate, and left some of it, according to the word of Yahweh.

⁴⁴அப்பொழுது அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அதை வைத்தான்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டதுமன்றி மீதியும் இருந்தது.
