¹Hear, Israel: you are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,

¹இஸ்ரவேலே, கேள்: நீ இப்பொழுது யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, உன்னிலும் ஜனம் பெருத்ததும் பலத்ததுமான ஜாதிகளைத் துரத்தி, வானத்தையளாவிய மதில் சூழ்ந்த பெரிய பட்டணங்களைப் பிடித்து,

²a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard say, “Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”

²ஏனாக்கின் புத்திரராகிய பெரியவர்களும் நெடியவர்களுமான ஜனங்களைத் துரத்திவிடப்போகிறாய்; இவர்கள் செய்தியை நீ அறிந்து, ஏனாக் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக நிற்பவன் யார் என்று சொல்லப்படுவதை நீ கேட்டிருக்கிறாய்.

³Know therefore this day, that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will bring them down before you: so you shall drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.

³உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகிறவர் என்பதை இன்று அறியக்கடவாய்; அவர் பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினியைப்போல அவர்களை அழிப்பார்; அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாக விழப்பண்ணுவார்; இவ்விதமாய்க் கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே, நீ அவர்களைச் சீக்கிரமாய்த் துரத்தி, அவர்களை அழிப்பாய்.

⁴Don’t say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you, saying, “For my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land”; because Yahweh drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.

⁴உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகையில், நீ உன் இருதயத்திலே: என் நீதியினிமித்தம் இந்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படி கர்த்தர் என்னை அழைத்துவந்தார் என்று சொல்லாயாக; அந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய ஆகாமியத்தினிமித்தமே கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

⁵Not for your righteousness, or for the uprightness of your heart, do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

⁵உன் நீதியினிமித்தமும் உன் இருதயத்தினுடைய உத்தமத்தினிமித்தமும் நீ அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கும்படி பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை; அந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய ஆகாமியத்தினிமித்தமாகவும், ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்னும் உன் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கர்த்தர் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாகவும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

⁶Know therefore, that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.

⁶ஆகையால், உன் நீதியினிமித்தம் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கக் கொடார் என்பதை அறியக்கடவாய்; நீ வணங்காக் கழுத்துள்ள ஜனம்.

⁷Remember, don’t forget, how you provoked Yahweh your God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that you went forth out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.

⁷நீ வனாந்தரத்தில் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினதை நினை, அதை மறவாயாக; நீங்கள் எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நாள் முதல், இவ்விடத்தில் வந்து சேருமட்டும், கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணினீர்கள்.

⁸Also in Horeb you provoked Yahweh to wrath, and Yahweh was angry with you to destroy you.

⁸ஒரேபிலும் நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினதினால், கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிக்கத்தக்கதான உக்கிரங்கொண்டார்.

⁹When I was gone up onto the mountain to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Yahweh made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.

⁹கர்த்தர் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கைப் பலகைகளாகிய கற்பலகைகளைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி நான் மலையில் ஏறினபோது, நாற்பதுநாள் இரவும் பகலும் மலையில் தங்கி அப்பம் புசியாமலும் தண்ணீர் குடியாமலும் இருந்தேன்.

¹⁰Yahweh delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them were all the words which Yahweh spoke with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

¹⁰அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய விரலினால் எழுதியிருந்த இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளைக் கர்த்தர் என்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; சபை கூடியிருந்த நாளில் கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உங்களுடனே பேசின வார்த்தைகளின்படியே அவைகளில் எழுதியிருந்தது.

¹¹It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Yahweh gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

¹¹இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பதுநாள் முடிந்து, கர்த்தர் எனக்கு அந்த உடன்படிக்கையின் இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளைக் கொடுக்கிறபோது,

¹²Yahweh said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.”

¹²கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, சீக்கிரமாய் இவ்விடம் விட்டு, இறங்கிப்போ; நீ எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த உன் ஜனங்கள் தங்களைக் கெடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; நான் அவர்களுக்கு விதித்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாக விட்டு விலகி, வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தைத் தங்களுக்காக உண்டாக்கினார்கள் என்றார்.

¹³Furthermore Yahweh spoke to me, saying, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people:

¹³பின்னும் கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: இந்த ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்தேன்; அது வணங்காக் கழுத்துள்ள ஜனம்.

¹⁴let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under the sky; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.”

¹⁴ஆகையால், நான் அவர்களை அழித்து, அவர்கள் பேரை வானத்தின் கீழ் அற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணும்படி, நீ என்னை விட்டுவிடு; அவர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் உன்னைப் பலத்ததும் ஜனம் பெருத்ததுமான ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

¹⁵So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

¹⁵அப்பொழுது நான் திரும்பி மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினேன், மலையானது அக்கினி பற்றி எரிந்துகொண்டிருந்தது; உடன்படிக்கையின் இரண்டு பலகைகளும் என் இரண்டு கைகளில் இருந்தது.

¹⁶I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Yahweh your God; you had made yourselves a molten calf: you had turned aside quickly out of the way which Yahweh had commanded you.

¹⁶நான் பார்த்தபோது, நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்து, வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட கன்றுக்குட்டியை உங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு விதித்த வழியைச் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகினதைக் கண்டேன்.

¹⁷I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.

¹⁷அப்பொழுது நான் என் இரண்டு கைகளிலும் இருந்த அந்த இரண்டு பலகைகளையும் ஓங்கி எறிந்து, அவைகளை உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக உடைத்துப்போட்டேன்.

¹⁸I fell down before Yahweh, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water; because of all your sin which you sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger.

¹⁸கர்த்தரைக் கோபப்படுத்துவதற்கு நீங்கள் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்து நடப்பித்த உங்களுடைய சகல பாவங்கள் நிமித்தமும், நான் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக முன்போல இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாள் விழுந்து கிடந்தேன்; நான் அப்பம் புசிக்கவுமில்லை, தண்ணீர் குடிக்கவுமில்லை.

¹⁹For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which Yahweh was angry against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.

¹⁹கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிக்கும்படி உங்கள்மேல் கொண்டிருந்த கோபத்திற்கும் உக்கிரத்திற்கும் பயந்திருந்தேன்; கர்த்தர் அந்த முறையும் என் மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்டார்.

²⁰Yahweh was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²⁰ஆரோன் மேலும் கர்த்தர் மிகவும் கோபங்கொண்டு, அவனை அழிக்கவேண்டும் என்றிருந்தார்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனுக்காகவும் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினேன்.

²¹I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast its dust into the brook that descended out of the mountain.

²¹உங்கள் பாவக்கிரியையாகிய அந்தக் கன்றுக்குட்டியை நான் எடுத்து அக்கினியில் எரித்து, அதை நொறுக்கி, தூளாய்ப் போகுமட்டும் அரைத்து, அந்தத் தூளை மலையிலிருந்து ஓடுகிற ஆற்றிலே போட்டுவிட்டேன்.

²²At Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah, you provoked Yahweh to wrath.

²²தபேராவிலும், மாசாவிலும், கிப்ரோத் அத்தாவாவிலும் கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினீர்கள்.

²³When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you”; then you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you didn’t believe him, nor listen to his voice.

²³நீங்கள் போய், நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து உங்களை அனுப்புகையிலும், நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விசுவாசியாமலும், அவருடைய சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடாமலும், அவருடைய வாக்குக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணினீர்கள்.

²⁴You have been rebellious against Yahweh from the day that I knew you.

²⁴நான் உங்களை அறிந்த நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகம் பண்ணுகிறவர்களாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

²⁵So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Yahweh had said he would destroy you.

²⁵கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னபடியினால், நான் முன்போல் கர்த்தரின் சமுகத்தில் இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாள் விழுந்துகிடந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிப் பண்ணின விண்ணப்பமாவது:

²⁶I prayed to Yahweh, and said, “Lord Yahweh, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

²⁶கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, தேவரீர் உம்முடைய மகத்துவத்தினாலே மீட்டு, பலத்த கையினால் எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த உமது ஜனத்தையும், உமது சுதந்தரத்தையும் அழிக்காதிருப்பீராக.

²⁷Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; don’t look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin,

²⁷கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணியிருந்த தேசத்தில் அவர்களைப் பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணக் கூடாமற்போனபடியினாலும், அவர்களை வெறுத்தபடியினாலும், அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் கொன்றுபோடும்படிக்கே கொண்டுவந்தார் என்று நாங்கள் விட்டுப் புறப்படும்படி நீர் செய்த தேசத்தின் குடிகள் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு,

²⁸lest the land you brought us out from say, ‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.’

²⁸தேவரீர் இந்த ஜனங்களின் முரட்டாட்டத்தையும், இவர்கள் ஆகாமியத்தையும், இவர்கள் பாவத்தையும் பாராமல், உமது தாசராகிய ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களை நினைத்தருளும்.

²⁹Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”

²⁹நீர் உமது மகா பலத்தினாலும், ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் புறப்படப்பண்ணின இவர்கள் உமது ஜனமும் உமது சுதந்தரமுமாயிருக்கிறார்களே என்று விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினேன்.
