¹Then Job answered,

¹யோபு பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

²“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

²என் வசனத்தைக் கவனமாய்க் கேளுங்கள்; இது நீங்கள் என்னைத் தேற்றரவுபண்ணுவதுபோல இருக்கும்.

³Allow me, and I also will speak; After I have spoken, mock on.

³நான் பேசப்போகிறேன், சகித்திருங்கள்; நான் பேசினபின்பு பரியாசம்பண்ணுங்கள்.

⁴As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?

⁴நான் மனுஷனைப்பார்த்தா அங்கலாய்க்கிறேன்? அப்படியானாலும் என் ஆவி விசனப்படாதிருக்குமா?

⁵Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.

⁵என்னைக் கவனித்துப்பாருங்கள், அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் பிரமித்து, உங்கள் வாயைக் கையால் பொத்திக்கொள்வீர்கள்.

⁶When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

⁶இதை நான் நினைக்கையில் கலங்குகிறேன்; நடுக்கம் என் மாம்சத்தைப் பிடிக்கும்.

⁷“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

⁷துன்மார்க்கர் ஜீவித்து விருத்தராகி, வல்லவராவானேன்?

⁸Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.

⁸அவர்களோடுங்கூட அவர்கள் சந்ததியார் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும், அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகள் அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் திடப்படுகிறார்கள்.

⁹Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

⁹அவர்கள் வீடுகள் பயமில்லாமல் பத்திரப்பட்டிருக்கும்; தேவனுடைய மிலாறு அவர்கள்மேல் வருகிறதில்லை.

¹⁰Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.

¹⁰அவர்களுடைய எருது பொலிந்தால், வீணாய்ப்போகாது; அவர்களுடைய பசு சினை அழியாமல் ஈனுகிறது.

¹¹They send forth their little ones like a flock. Their children dance.

¹¹அவர்கள் தங்கள் குழந்தைகளை ஒரு மந்தையைப்போல வெளியே போகவிடுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகள் குதித்து விளையாடுகிறார்கள்.

¹²They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

¹²அவர்கள் தம்புரையும் சுரமண்டலத்தையும் எடுத்துப் பாடி, கின்னரத்தின் ஓசைக்குச் சந்தோஷப்படுகிறார்கள்.

¹³They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .

¹³அவர்கள் செல்வவான்களாய்த் தங்கள் நாட்களைப் போக்கி, ஒரு க்ஷணப்பொழுதிலே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குகிறார்கள்.

¹⁴They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.

¹⁴அவர்கள் தேவனை நோக்கி: எங்களைவிட்டு விலகியிரும், உம்முடைய வழிகளை அறிய விரும்போம்;

¹⁵What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

¹⁵சர்வவல்லவரை நாம் சேவிக்க அவர் யார்? அவரை நோக்கி ஜெபம்பண்ணுவதினால் நமக்குப் பிரயோஜனம் என்ன என்கிறார்கள்.

¹⁶Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

¹⁶ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் வாழ்வு அவர்கள் கையிலிராது; துன்மார்க்கரின் ஆலோசனை எனக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக.

¹⁷“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

¹⁷எத்தனைச் சடுதியில் துன்மார்க்கரின் விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகும்; அவர் தமது கோபத்தினால் வேதனைகளைப் பகிர்ந்துகொடுக்கையில், அவர்கள் ஆபத்து அவர்கள்மேல் வரும்.

¹⁸How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

¹⁸அவர்கள் காற்றுமுகத்திலிருக்கிற துரும்பைப்போலவும், பெருங்காற்று பறக்கடிக்கிற பதரைப்போலவும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

¹⁹You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.

¹⁹தேவன் அவனுடைய அக்கிரமத்தை அவன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு வைத்து வைக்கிறார்; அவன் உணரத்தக்கவிதமாய் அதை அவனுக்குப் பலிக்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

²⁰Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

²⁰அவனுடைய அழிவை அவனுடைய கண்கள் காணும், சர்வவல்லவருடைய உக்கிரத்தைக் குடிப்பான்.

²¹For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

²¹அவன் மாதங்களின் தொகை குறுக்கப்படும்போது, அவனுக்குப் பிற்பாடு அவன் வீட்டைப்பற்றி அவனுக்கு இருக்கும் விருப்பமென்ன?

²²“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?

²²உயர்ந்தோரை நியாயந்தீர்க்கிற தேவனுக்கு அறிவை உணர்த்த யாராலாகும்?

²³One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

²³ஒருவன் நிர்வாகத்தோடும் சுகத்தோடும் வாழ்ந்து குறையற்ற பெலனுள்ளவனாய்ச் சாகிறான்.

²⁴His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.

²⁴அவனுடைய பால்பாத்திரங்கள் பாலால் நிரம்பியிருக்கிறது, அவன் எலும்புகளில் ஊன் புஷ்டியாயிருக்கிறது.

²⁵Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.

²⁵வேறொருவன் ஒரு நாளாவது சந்தோஷத்தோடே சாப்பிடாமல், மனக்கிலேசத்தோடே சாகிறான்.

²⁶They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.

²⁶இருவரும் சமமாய் மண்ணிலே படுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்; புழுக்கள் அவர்களை மூடும்.

²⁷“Behold, I know your thoughts, the devices with which you would wrong me.

²⁷இதோ, நான் உங்கள் நினைவுகளையும், நீங்கள் என்னைப்பற்றி அநியாயமாய்க் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஆலோசனைகளையும் அறிவேன்.

²⁸For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

²⁸பிரபுவினுடைய வீடு எங்கே? துன்மார்க்கருடைய கூடாரம் எங்கே? என்று சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்?

²⁹Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,

²⁹வழிநடந்துபோகிறவர்களை நீங்கள் கேட்கவில்லையா, அவர்கள் சொல்லும் குறிப்புகளை நீங்கள் அறியவில்லையா?

³⁰that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, That they are led forth to the day of wrath?

³⁰துன்மார்க்கன் ஆபத்து நாளுக்கென்று வைக்கப்படுகிறான்; அவன் கோபாக்கினையின் நாளுக்கென்று கொண்டுவரப்படுகிறான்.

³¹Who shall declare his way to his face? Who shall repay him what he has done?

³¹அவன் வழியை அவன் முகத்துக்கு முன்பாகத் தூண்டிக் காண்பிக்கிறவன் யார்? அவன் செய்கைக்குத் தக்க பலனை அவனுக்குச் சரிக்கட்டுகிறவன் யார்?

³²Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men shall keep watch over the tomb.

³²அவன் கல்லறைக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்படுகிறான்; அவன் கோரி காக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

³³The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him. All men shall draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.

³³பள்ளத்தாக்கின் புல்பத்தைகள் அவனுக்கு இன்பமாயிருக்கும்; அவனுக்கு முன்னாக எண்ணிறந்த ஜனங்கள் போனதுபோல, அவனுக்குப் பின்னாக ஒவ்வொருவரும் அவ்விடத்துக்குச் செல்லுவார்கள்.

³⁴So how can you comfort me with nonsense, because in your answers there remains only falsehood?”

³⁴நீங்கள் வீணான ஆறுதலை எனக்குச் செல்லுகிறது என்ன? உங்கள் மறுமொழிகளில் உண்மைக்கேடு இருக்கிறது என்றான்.
