¹Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that behold, the place was a place for livestock;

¹ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும் காத் புத்திரருக்கும் ஆடுமாடுகள் மிகவும் திரளாயிருந்தது; அவர்கள் யாசேர் தேசத்தையும் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தையும் பார்த்தபோது, அது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடமென்று கண்டார்கள்.

²the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

²ஆகையால் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் காத் புத்திரரும் வந்து, மோசேயையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரையும் சபையின் பிரபுக்களையும் நோக்கி:

³“Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

³கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சபைக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடித்த அதரோத், தீபோன், யாசேர், நிம்ரா, எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, சேபாம், நேபோ, பெயோன் என்னும் பட்டணங்களைச் சேர்ந்த நாடானது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடம்.

⁴the land which Yahweh struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock.”

⁴உமது அடியாருக்கு ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டு.

⁵They said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; don’t bring us over the Jordan.”

⁵உம்முடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயை கிடைத்ததானால், எங்களை யோர்தான் நதிக்கு அப்புறம் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணீராக; இந்த நாட்டை உமது அடியாருக்குக் காணியாட்சியாகக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

⁶Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to the war, and shall you sit here?

⁶அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரரையும் ரூபன் புத்திரரையும் நோக்கி: உங்கள் சகோதரர் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகையில், நீங்கள் இங்கே இருப்பீர்களோ?

⁷Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Yahweh has given them?

⁷கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்கு அவர்கள் போகாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணுகிறதென்ன?

⁸Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.

⁸அந்த தேசத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பினபோது அவர்களும் இப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

⁹For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.

⁹அவர்கள் எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்கு மட்டும் போய், அத்தேசத்தைப் பார்த்து வந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்குப் போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

¹⁰Yahweh’s anger was kindled in that day, and he swore, saying,

¹⁰அதினால் கர்த்தர் அந்நாழிலே கோபம் மூண்டவராகி:

¹¹‘Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

¹¹உத்தமமாய் என்னைப் பின்பற்றின கேனேசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரன் காலேபும், நூனின் குமாரன் யோசுவாவும் தவிர,

¹²except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have followed Yahweh completely.’

¹²எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களில் இருபது வயதுமுதல் அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட மனிதர்களில் ஒருவரும் என்னை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றாதபடியால், அவர்கள் நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்த தேசத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

¹³Yahweh’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, who had done evil in the sight of Yahweh, was consumed.

¹³அப்படியே கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் மூண்டது; கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்த அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் நிர்மூலமாகுமட்டும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்திலே நாற்பது வருஷம் அலையப்பண்ணினார்.

¹⁴“Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.

¹⁴இப்பொழுதும் இதோ இஸ்ரவேலர் மேலிருக்கும் கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தை இன்னும் அதிகரிக்கப்பண்ணும்படி, நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் ஸ்தானத்திலே பாவமுள்ள பெருங்கூட்டமாய் எழும்பியிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

¹⁵For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people.”

¹⁵நீங்கள் அவரைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கினால், அவர் இன்னும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் இருக்கப்பண்ணுவார்; இப்படி நீங்கள் இந்த ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் அழியப்பண்ணுவீர்கள் என்றான்.

¹⁶They came near to him, and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones:

¹⁶அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவன் சமீபத்தில் வந்து: எங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும், எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும் இங்கே கட்டுவோம்.

¹⁷but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

¹⁷நாங்களோ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை அவர்கள் ஸ்தானத்திலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்குமளவும், யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்த் தீவிரத்தோடே அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடப்போம்; எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் இத்தேசத்துக் குடிகளினிமித்தம் அரணான பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருக்கக் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

¹⁸We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

¹⁸இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யாவரும் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும் வரைக்கும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்புவதில்லை.

¹⁹For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.”

¹⁹யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் கிழக்கே எங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரம் உண்டானபடியினாலே, நாங்கள் அவர்களோடேகூட யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலும், அதற்கு அப்புறத்திலும் சுதந்தரம் வாங்கமாட்டோம் என்றார்கள்.

²⁰Moses said to them, “If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,

²⁰அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்து, கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராகி,

²¹and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven out his enemies from before him,

²¹கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய சத்துருக்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்திற்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிடுமளவும், நீங்கள் யாவரும் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து போவீர்களானால்,

²²and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you shall return, and be guiltless towards Yahweh, and towards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before Yahweh.

²²அத்தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக வசப்படுத்தப்பட்டபின்பு, நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்து, கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு முன்பாகவும், குற்றமில்லாதிருப்பீர்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு இந்த தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகும்.

²³“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out.

²³நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்யாமற்போனால், கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்தவர்களாயிருப்பீர்கள்; உங்கள் பாவம் உங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிக்கும் என்று நிச்சயமாய் அறியுங்கள்.

²⁴Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.”

²⁴உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும், உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டி, உங்கள் வாய்மொழியின்படியே செய்யுங்கள் என்றான்.

²⁵The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do as my lord commands.

²⁵அப்பொழுது காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் மோசேயை நோக்கி: எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் செய்வோம்.

²⁶Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

²⁶எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் எங்கள் மனைவிகளும், எங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலான எங்களுடைய எல்லா மிருகஜீவன்களோடும், இங்கே கீலேயாத்தின் பட்டணங்களில் இருப்பார்கள்.

²⁷but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says.”

²⁷உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்களோ எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, ஒவ்வொருவரும் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய், கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

²⁸So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ households of the tribes of the children of Israel.

²⁸அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களுக்காக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும், நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திர பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவர்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டு:

²⁹Moses said to them, “If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle, before Yahweh, and the land shall be subdued before you; then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:

²⁹காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் அவரவர் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் உங்களோடேகூட யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோனால், அத்தேசம் உங்களுக்கு வசப்பட்டபின்பு, அவர்களுக்குக் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.

³⁰but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”

³⁰உங்களோடேகூட யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்க் கடந்துபோகாதிருந்தார்களேயானால், அவர்கள் உங்கள் நடுவே கானான் தேசத்திலே சுதந்தரம் அடையக்கடவர்கள் என்றான்.

³¹The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, “As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.

³¹காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே செய்வோம்.

³²We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.”

³²யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலே எங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தின் காணியாட்சி எங்களுக்கு உரியதாகும்படி நாங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் கானான் தேசத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

³³Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.

³³அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரருக்கும், ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும், யோசேப்பின் குமாரனாகிய மனாசேயின் பாதிக்கோத்திரத்தாருக்கும், எமோரியருடைய ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், பாசானுடைய ராஜாவாகிய ஓகின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், அவைகளைச் சேர்ந்த தேசங்களையும் அவைகளின் எல்லையைச் சுற்றிலுமுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.

³⁴The children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

³⁴பின்பு காத் சந்ததியார் தீபோன், அதரோத் ஆரோவேர்,

³⁵and Atrothshophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,

³⁵ஆத்ரோத், சோபான், யாசேர், யொகிபேயா,

³⁶and Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep.

³⁶பெத்நிம்ரா, பெத்தாரன் என்னும் அரணான பட்டணங்களையும் ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டினார்கள்.

³⁷The children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,

³⁷ரூபன் சந்ததியார் எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, கீரியத்தாயீம்,

³⁸and Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah: and they gave other names to the cities which they built.

³⁸பேர்கள் மாற்றப்பட்ட நேபோ, பாகால்மெயோன், சீப்மா என்பவைகளைக் கட்டி, தாங்கள் கட்டின பட்டணங்களுக்கு வேறே பேர்களைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

³⁹The children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein.

³⁹மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் புத்திரர் கீலேயாத்திற்குப் போய், அதைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதிலிருந்த எமோரியரைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

⁴⁰Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he lived therein.

⁴⁰அப்பொழுது மோசே கீலேயாத்தை மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் அதிலே குடியேறினார்கள்.

⁴¹Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth Jair.

⁴¹மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய யாவீர் போய், அவர்களுடைய கிராமங்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவைகளுக்கு யாவீர் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

⁴²Nobah went and took Kenath, and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.

⁴²நோபாக் போய், கேனாத்தையும், அதின் கிராமங்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதற்குத் தன் நாமத்தின்படியே நோபாக் என்று பேரிட்டான்.
