2He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
2நிதானமாய் நடக்கிறவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறான்; தன் வழிகளில் தாறுமாறானவனோ அவரை அலட்சியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.
3The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
3மூடன் வாயிலே அவன் அகந்தைக்கேற்ற மிலாறுண்டு; ஞானவான்களின் உதடுகளோ அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றும்.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
4எருதுகளில்லாத இடத்தில் களஞ்சியம் வெறுமையாயிருக்கும்; காளைகளின் பெலத்தினாலோ மிகுந்த வரத்துண்டு.
5A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
5மெய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரன் பொய்சொல்லான்; பொய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.
6A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
6பரியாசக்காரன் ஞானத்தைத் தேடியும் கண்டுபிடியான்; புத்தியுள்ளவனுக்கோ அறிவு லேசாய்வரும்.
7Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
7மூடனுடைய முகத்துக்கு விலகிப்போ; அறிவுள்ள உதடுகளை அங்கே காணாய்.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
8தன் வழியைச் சிந்தித்துக்கொள்வது விவேகியின் ஞானம்; மூடர்களுடைய வஞ்சனையோ மூடத்தனம்.
9Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
9மூடர் பாவத்தைக்குறித்துப் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; நீதிமான்களுக்குள்ளே தயை உண்டு.
10The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
10இருதயத்தின் கசப்பு இருதயத்திற்கே தெரியும்; அதின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு அந்நியன் உடந்தையாகான்.
11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
11துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வீடு அழியும்; செம்மையானவனுடைய கூடாரமோ செழிக்கும்.
12There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
12மனுஷனுக்குச் செம்மையாய்த் தோன்றுகிற வழி உண்டு; அதின் முடிவோ மரணவழிகள்.
13Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
13நகைப்பிலும் மனதுக்குத் துக்கமுண்டு; அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியின் முடிவு சஞ்சலம்.
14The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
14பின்வாங்கும் இருதயமுள்ளவன் தன் வழிகளிலேயும், நல்ல மனுஷனோ தன்னிலே தானும் திருப்தியடைவான்.
15A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
15பேதையானவன் எந்த வார்த்தையையும் நம்புவான்; விவேகியோ தன் நடையின்மேல் கவனமாயிருக்கிறான்.
16A wise man fears, and shuns evil, but the fool is hotheaded and reckless.
16ஞானமுள்ளவன் பயந்து தீமைக்கு விலகுகிறான்; மதியீனனோ மூர்க்கங்கொண்டு துணிகரமாயிருக்கிறான்.
17He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
17முற்கோபி மதிகேட்டைச் செய்வான்; துர்ச்சிந்தனைக்காரன் வெறுக்கப்படுவான்.
18The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
18பேதையர் புத்தியீனத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கிறார்கள்; விவேகிகளோ அறிவினால் முடிசூட்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.
19The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
19தீயோர் நல்லோருக்கு முன்பாகவும், துன்மார்க்கர் நீதிமான்களுடைய வாசற்படிகளிலும் குனிவதுண்டு.
20The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.
20தரித்திரன் தனக்கடுத்தவனாலும் பகைக்கப்படுகிறான்; ஐசுவரியவானுக்கோ அநேக சிநேகிதருண்டு.
21He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who has pity on the poor.
21பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறவன் பாவஞ்செய்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்கு இரங்குகிறவனோ பாக்கியமடைவான்.
22Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
22தீமையை யோசிக்கிறவர்கள் தவறுகிறார்களல்லவோ? நன்மையை யோசிக்கிறவர்களுக்கோ கிருபையும் சத்தியமுமுண்டு.
23In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
23சகல பிரயாசத்தினாலும் பிரயோஜனமுண்டு; உதடுகளின் பேச்சோ வறுமையை மாத்திரம் தரும்.
24The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
24ஞானிகளுக்கு முடி அவர்கள் செல்வம்; மூடரின் மதியீனம் மூடத்தனமே.
25A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
25மெய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லுகிறவன் உயிர்களை இரட்சிக்கிறான்; வஞ்சனைக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.
26In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
26கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவனுக்குத் திடநம்பிக்கை உண்டு; அவன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் அடைக்கலம் கிடைக்கும்.
27The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
27கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் ஜீவஊற்று; அதினால் மரணக்கண்ணிகளுக்குத் தப்பலாம்.
28In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
28ஜனத்திரட்சி ராஜாவின் மகிமை; ஜனக்குறைவு தலைவனின் முறிவு.
29He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
29நீடிய சாந்தமுள்ளவன் மகாபுத்திமான்; முற்கோபியோ புத்தியீனத்தை விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறான்.
30The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
30சொஸ்தமனம் உடலுக்கு ஜீவன்; பொறாமையோ எலும்புருக்கி.
31He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.
31தரித்திரனை ஒடுக்குகிறவன் அவனை உண்டாக்கினவரை நிந்திக்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்குத் தயைசெய்கிறவனோ அவரைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறான்;
32The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
32துன்மார்க்கன் தன் தீமையிலே வாரிக்கொள்ளப்படுவான்; நீதிமானோ தன் மரணத்திலே நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவன்.
33Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
33புத்திமானுடைய இருதயத்தில் ஞானம் தங்கும்; மதியீனரிடத்தில் உள்ளதோ வெளிப்படும்.
34Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
34நீதி ஜனத்தை உயர்த்தும்; பாவமோ எந்த ஜனத்துக்கும் இகழ்ச்சி.
35The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
35ராஜாவின் தயை விவேகமுள்ள பணிவிடைக்காரன் மேலிருக்கும்; அவனுடைய கோபமோ இலச்சையுண்டாக்குகிறவன் மேலிருக்கும்.
