¹Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars.

¹ஞானம் தன் வீட்டைக் கட்டி, தன் ஏழு தூண்களையும் சித்திரந்தீர்த்து,

²She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table.

²தன் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களை அடித்து, திராட்சரசத்தை வார்த்துவைத்து, தன் போஜனபந்தியை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி,

³She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city:

³தன் பணிவிடைக்காரிகளை அனுப்பி, பட்டணத்தின் உயர்ந்த மேடைகளின்மேல் நின்று கூப்பிட்டு,

⁴“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

⁴புத்தியீனனை நோக்கி: எவன் பேதையோ அவன் இவ்விடத்தில் வரக்கடவன்.

⁵“Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!

⁵நீங்கள் வந்து என் அப்பத்தைப் புசித்து, நான் வார்த்த திராட்சரசத்தைப் பானம்பண்ணுங்கள்.

⁶Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.”

⁶பேதமையை விட்டு விலகுங்கள், அப்பொழுது பிழைத்திருப்பீர்கள்; புத்தியின் வழியிலே நடவுங்கள் என்று விளம்புகிறது.

⁷He who corrects a mocker invites insult. He who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

⁷பரியாசக்காரனைக் கண்டிக்கிறவன் இலச்சையடைகிறான்; துன்மார்க்கனைக் கண்டிக்கிறவன் தன்னைக் கறைப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறான்.

⁸Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

⁸பரியாசக்காரனைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளாதே, அவன் உன்னைப் பகைப்பான்; ஞானமுள்ளவனைக் கடிந்துகொள், அவன் உன்னை நேசிப்பான்.

⁹Instruct a wise man, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

⁹ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்குப் போதகம்பண்ணு, அவன் ஞானத்தில் தேறுவான்; நீதிமானுக்கு உபதேசம் பண்ணு, அவன் அறிவில் விருத்தியடைவான்.

¹⁰The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

¹⁰கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; பரிசுத்தரின் அறிவே அறிவு.

¹¹For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased.

¹¹என்னாலே உன் நாட்கள் பெருகும்; உன் ஆயுசின் வருஷங்கள் விருத்தியாகும்.

¹²If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.

¹²நீ ஞானியானால் உனக்கென்று ஞானியாவாய்; நீ பரியாசக்காரனானால் நீயே அதின் பயனை அநுபவிப்பாய் என்று சொல்லுகிறது.

¹³The foolish woman is loud, Undisciplined, and knows nothing.

¹³மதியற்ற ஸ்திரீ வாயாடியும் ஒன்றுமறியாத நிர்மூடமுமாயிருக்கிறாள்.

¹⁴She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

¹⁴அவள் தன் வீட்டுவாசற்படியிலும் பட்டணத்தின் மேடைகளிலும் ஆசனம் போட்டு உட்கார்ந்து,

¹⁵To call to those who pass by, who go straight on their ways,

¹⁵தங்கள் வழிகளை நோக்கி நேரே போகும் வழிப்போக்கரைப் பார்த்து:

¹⁶“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

¹⁶எவன் பேதையோ அவன் இவ்விடத்தில் வரக்கடவன் என்றும்,

¹⁷“Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.”

¹⁷மதியீனனை நோக்கி: திருட்டுத்தண்ணீர் தித்திக்கும், அந்தரங்கத்தில் புசிக்கும் அப்பம் இன்பமாயிருக்கும் என்றும் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிடுகிறாள்.

¹⁸But he doesn’t know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .

¹⁸ஆயினும் மரித்தவர்கள் அவ்விடத்தில் உண்டென்றும், அவளுடைய விருந்தாளிகள் நரகபாதாளங்களில் கிடக்கிறார்களென்றும் அவன் அறியான்.
