¹Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

¹จงมุ่งหาความรัก และจงปรารถนาของประทานฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ เฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการพยากรณ์

²For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands; but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.

²เพราะว่าผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดที่พูดภาษาแปลกๆได้ ไม่ได้พูดกับมนุษย์ แต่ทูลต่อพระเจ้า เพราะว่าไม่มีมนุษย์คนใดเข้าใจได้ แต่เขาพูดเป็นความลึกลับฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ

³But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.

³ฝ่ายผู้ที่พยากรณ์นั้นพูดกับมนุษย์ทำให้เขาเจริญขึ้น เป็นที่เตือนสติและหนุนใจ

⁴He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly.

⁴ฝ่ายคนที่พูดภาษาแปลกๆนั้นก็ทำให้ตนเองเจริญฝ่ายเดียว แต่ผู้ที่พยากรณ์นั้นย่อมทำให้คริสตจักรจำเริญขึ้น

⁵Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.

⁵ข้าพเจ้าใคร่ให้ท่านทั้งหลายพูดภาษาแปลกๆได้ แต่ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาจะให้ท่านทั้งหลายพยากรณ์ได้ เพราะว่าผู้ที่พยากรณ์ได้นั้นก็ใหญ่กว่าคนที่พูดภาษาแปลกๆได้ เว้นแต่เขาสามารถแปลภาษานั้นๆออก เพื่อคริสตจักรจะได้รับความจำเริญขึ้น

⁶But now, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” if I come to you speaking with other languages, what would I profit you, unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching?

⁶นี่แหละพี่น้องทั้งหลาย ถ้าข้าพเจ้ามาหาท่านและพูดภาษาแปลกๆ จะเป็นประโยชน์อะไรแก่ท่านเล่า เว้นเสียแต่ข้าพเจ้าจะพูดกับท่านโดยคำวิวรณ์ หรือโดยความรู้ หรือโดยคำพยากรณ์ หรือโดยการสั่งสอน

⁷Even things without life, giving a voice, whether pipe or harp, if they didn’t give a distinction in the sounds, how would it be known what is piped or harped?

⁷แม้เป็นสิ่งที่ไม่มีชีวิตก็ยังกระทำเสียงได้ เช่นปี่หรือพิณเขาคู่ ถ้าเสียงนั้นไม่ต่างกัน ใครจะรู้ได้อย่างไรว่า เขาเป่าหรือดีดอะไร

⁸For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?

⁸ถ้าแตรเดี่ยวเปล่งเสียงไม่ชัดเจน ใครเล่าจะเตรียมตัวเข้าประจัญบานได้

⁹So also you, unless you uttered by the tongue words easy to understand, how would it be known what is spoken? For you would be speaking into the air.

⁹ท่านทั้งหลายก็เป็นเช่นนั้น ถ้าท่านไม่ใช้ภาษาพูดที่เข้าใจได้ง่าย เขาจะเข้าใจคำพูดนั้นได้อย่างไร ท่านก็จะพูดเพ้อตามลมไป

¹⁰There are, it may be, so many kinds of sounds in the world, and none of them is without meaning.

¹⁰ในโลกนี้มีภาษาเป็นอันมาก และไม่มีภาษาใดๆที่ปราศจากเนื้อความ

¹¹If then I don’t know the meaning of the sound, I would be to him who speaks a foreigner, and he who speaks would be a foreigner to me.

¹¹เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าข้าพเจ้าไม่เข้าใจเนื้อความของภาษานั้นๆ ข้าพเจ้าจะเป็นคนต่างภาษากับคนที่พูด และคนที่พูดนั้นจะเป็นคนต่างภาษากับข้าพเจ้าด้วย

¹²So also you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek that you may abound to the building up of the assembly.

¹²เช่นเดียวกัน เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายกำลังร้อนใจแสวงหาของประทานฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณแล้ว ก็จงอุตส่าห์กระทำตัวของท่านให้สามารถที่จะทำให้คริสตจักรจำเริญขึ้น

¹³Therefore let him who speaks in another language pray that he may interpret.

¹³เหตุฉะนั้นให้คนที่พูดภาษาแปลกๆอธิษฐานว่า เขาจะสามารถแปลได้ด้วย

¹⁴For if I pray in another language, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

¹⁴เพราะถ้าข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานเป็นภาษาแปลกๆ จิตวิญญาณของข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานก็จริง แต่ข้าพเจ้าเองก็ไม่เข้าใจ

¹⁵What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

¹⁵ถ้าเช่นนั้นข้าพเจ้าควรจะทำประการใด ข้าพเจ้าจะอธิษฐานด้วยจิตวิญญาณและจะอธิษฐานด้วยความเข้าใจด้วย และจะร้องเพลงด้วยจิตวิญญาณและจะร้องเพลงด้วยความเข้าใจด้วย

¹⁶Otherwise if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, seeing he doesn’t know what you say?

¹⁶มิฉะนั้นเมื่อท่านขอบพระคุณด้วยจิตวิญญาณแล้ว คนที่อยู่ในพวกที่รู้ไม่ถึงจะว่า "เอเมน" เมื่อท่านขอบพระคุณอย่างไรได้ ในเมื่อเขาไม่เข้าใจสิ่งที่ท่านพูด

¹⁷For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up.

¹⁷แม้ท่านขอบพระคุณอย่างไพเราะก็ตาม แต่คนอื่นนั้นจะไม่จำเริญขึ้น

¹⁸I thank my God, I speak with other languages more than you all.

¹⁸ข้าพเจ้าขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าพูดภาษาแปลกๆมากกว่าท่านทั้งหลายอีก

¹⁹However in the assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.

¹⁹แต่ว่าในคริสตจักร ข้าพเจ้าพอใจที่จะพูดสักห้าคำด้วยความเข้าใจ เพื่อเสียงของข้าพเจ้าจะสั่งสอนคนอื่นด้วย ดีกว่าที่จะพูดหมื่นคำเป็นภาษาแปลกๆ

²⁰Brothers, don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.

²⁰พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ความเข้าใจของท่านอย่าให้เป็นอย่างเด็ก อย่างไรก็ตามในเรื่องความชั่วร้ายจงเป็นอย่างเด็ก แต่ฝ่ายความเข้าใจจงให้เป็นอย่างผู้ใหญ่

²¹In the law it is written, “By men of strange languages and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people. Not even thus will they hear me, says the Lord.” Isaiah 28:11-12

²¹ในพระราชบัญญัติมีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า "เราจะพูดกับชนชาตินี้โดยคนต่างภาษาและโดยริมฝีปากของคนต่างด้าว ถึงกระนั้นเขาก็จะไม่ฟังเรา"'

²²Therefore other languages are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe.

²²เหตุฉะนั้นการพูดภาษาแปลกๆจึงไม่เป็นหมายสำคัญแก่คนที่เชื่อ แต่เป็นหมายสำคัญแก่คนที่ไม่เชื่อ แต่การพยากรณ์นั้นไม่ใช่สำหรับคนที่ไม่เชื่อ แต่สำหรับคนที่เชื่อแล้ว

²³If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy?

²³เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าทั้งคริสตจักรมีการประชุมพร้อมกัน แล้วคนทั้งปวงต่างก็พูดภาษาแปลกๆ และมีคนที่รู้ไม่ถึงหรือคนที่ไม่เชื่อเข้ามา เขาจะมิเห็นไปว่าท่านทั้งหลายคลั่งไปแล้วหรือ

²⁴But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.

²⁴แต่ถ้าทุกคนพยากรณ์ คนที่ไม่เชื่อหรือคนที่รู้ไม่ถึงเข้ามา ทุกคนก็จะทำให้เขารู้สำนึก และทำให้เขาพิจารณาใจของตนเอง

²⁵And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.

²⁵ดังนั้นความลับที่ซ่อนอยู่ในใจของเขาจะเด่นชัดขึ้น เขาก็จะกราบลงนมัสการพระเจ้ากล่าวว่า พระเจ้าทรงสถิตอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกท่านอย่างแน่นอน

²⁶What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up.

²⁶พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เมื่อท่านประชุมกัน ทุกคนก็มีเพลงสดุดี ทุกคนก็มีคำสั่งสอน ทุกคนก็พูดภาษาแปลกๆ ทุกคนก็มีคำวิวรณ์ ทุกคนก็แปลข้อความ จะว่าอย่างไรกัน ท่านจงกระทำทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างเพื่อให้จำเริญขึ้น

²⁷If any man speaks in another language, let it be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret.

²⁷ถ้าผู้ใดจะพูดภาษาแปลกๆ จงให้พูดเพียงสองคนหรืออย่างมากที่สุดก็สามคน และให้พูดทีละคน และให้อีกคนหนึ่งแปล

²⁸But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the assembly, and let him speak to himself, and to God.

²⁸แต่ถ้าไม่มีผู้ใดแปลก็ให้คนเหล่านั้นอยู่เงียบๆในที่ประชุมคริสตจักร และให้พูดกับตัวเอง และทูลต่อพระเจ้า

²⁹Let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the others discern.

²⁹ฝ่ายพวกผู้พยากรณ์นั้นให้พูดสองหรือสามคน และให้คนอื่นวินิจฉัยข้อความที่เขาพูดนั้น

³⁰But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent.

³⁰ถ้ามีสิ่งใดทรงสำแดงแก่คนอื่นที่นั่งอยู่ด้วยกัน ให้คนแรกนั้นนิ่งเสียก่อน

³¹For you all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted.

³¹เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายพยากรณ์ได้ทีละคน เพื่อให้ทุกคนได้ความรู้ และได้รับการปลอบประโลมใจ

³²The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,

³²วิญญาณของพวกผู้พยากรณ์นั้นย่อมอยู่ในบังคับพวกผู้พยากรณ์

³³for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the assemblies of the saints,

³³เพราะว่าพระเจ้าไม่ใช่พระเจ้าแห่งการวุ่นวาย แต่ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแห่งสันติสุข เหมือนที่ปฏิบัติกันอยู่ในบรรดาคริสตจักรแห่งวิสุทธิชนนั้น

³⁴let your wives keep silent in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as the law also says.

³⁴จงให้พวกผู้หญิงนิ่งเสียในที่ประชุมคริสตจักร เพราะไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้พูด แต่ให้เขาอยู่ใต้บังคับบัญชา เหมือนที่พระราชบัญญัติสั่งไว้นั้น

³⁵If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for a woman to chatter in the assembly.

³⁵ถ้าเขาอยากรู้สิ่งใด ก็ให้เขาถามสามีที่บ้าน เพราะว่าการที่ผู้หญิงจะพูดในที่ประชุมคริสตจักรนั้นก็เป็นสิ่งที่น่าอาย

³⁶What? Was it from you that the word of God went out? Or did it come to you alone?

³⁶อะไรกัน พระวจนะของพระเจ้าเกิดมาจากพวกท่านหรือ ได้ประทานมาถึงท่านแต่พวกเดียวหรือ

³⁷If any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.

³⁷ถ้าผู้ใดถือว่าตนเป็นผู้พยากรณ์หรืออยู่ฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ ก็ให้เขายอมรับว่า ข้อความซึ่งข้าพเจ้าเขียนมาถึงท่านนั้นเป็นพระบัญญัติขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

³⁸But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.

³⁸แต่ถ้าผู้ใดเฉยเมยต่อข้อความนี้ ก็ให้เขาเฉยเมยต่อไป

³⁹Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages.

³⁹เหตุฉะนั้นพี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงตั้งใจปรารถนาที่จะพยากรณ์ ที่เขาพูดภาษาแปลกๆก็อย่าห้ามเลย

⁴⁰Let all things be done decently and in order.

⁴⁰แต่สิ่งสารพัดซึ่งจะกระทำนั้น จงกระทำตามสมควร และให้เป็นระเบียบเรียบร้อย
