¹Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

¹แล้วเรื่องของที่เขาบูชาแก่รูปเคารพนั้น เราทั้งหลายทราบแล้วว่าเราทุกคนต่างก็มีความรู้ ความรู้นั้นทำให้ลำพอง แต่ความรักเสริมสร้างขึ้น

²But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t yet know as he ought to know.

²ถ้าผู้ใดถือว่าตัวรู้สิ่งใดแล้ว ผู้นั้นยังไม่รู้ตามที่ตนควรจะรู้

³But if anyone loves God, the same is known by him.

³แต่ถ้าผู้ใดรักพระเจ้า พระองค์ก็ทรงรู้จักผู้นั้น

⁴Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

⁴ฉะนั้นเรื่องการกินอาหารที่เขาได้บูชาแก่รูปเคารพนั้น เรารู้อยู่แล้วว่ารูปนั้นไม่มีตัวมีตนเลยในโลกและพระเจ้าองค์อื่นไม่มี มีแต่พระเจ้าองค์เดียว

⁵For though there are things that are called “gods,” whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many “gods” and many “lords”;

⁵ถึงแม้จะมีสิ่งต่างๆในสวรรค์และในแผ่นดินโลกที่เขาเรียกว่า "พระ" (ก็เป็นเหมือนมีพระมากและเจ้ามาก)

⁶yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

⁶แต่ว่าสำหรับพวกเรานั้นมีพระเจ้าองค์เดียวคือพระบิดา และสิ่งสารพัดทั้งปวงบังเกิดขึ้นจากพระองค์ และเราอยู่ในพระองค์ และเรามีพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้าองค์เดียว และสิ่งสารพัดก็เกิดขึ้นโดยพระองค์ และเราก็เป็นมาโดยพระองค์

⁷However, that knowledge isn’t in all men. But some, with consciousness of the idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

⁷มิใช่ว่าทุกคนมีความรู้อย่างนี้ เพราะมีบางคนมีจิดสำนึกผิดชอบเรื่องรูปเคารพว่า เมื่อได้กินอาหารนั้นก็ถือว่าเป็นของบูชาแก่รูปเคารพจริงๆ และจิตสำนึกผิดชอบของเขายังอ่อนอยู่จึงเป็นมลทิน

⁸But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don’t eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.

⁸อาหารไม่เป็นเครื่องที่ทำให้พระเจ้าทรงโปรดปรานเรา ถ้าเรากิน เราก็ไม่ได้อะไรเป็นพิเศษ ถ้าเราไม่กิน เราก็ไม่ขาดอะไร

⁹But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.

⁹แต่จงระวัง อย่าให้เสรีภาพของท่านนั้นทำให้คนที่อ่อนในความเชื่อหลงผิดไป

¹⁰For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol’s temple, won’t his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

¹⁰เพราะว่า ถ้าผู้ใดเห็นท่านที่มีความรู้เอนกายลงรับประทานในวิหารของรูปเคารพ จิตสำนึกผิดชอบที่อ่อนของคนนั้น จะไม่เหิมขึ้นทำให้เขาบังอาจกินของที่ได้บูชาแก่รูปเคารพนั้นหรือ

¹¹And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

¹¹โดยความรู้ของท่าน พี่น้องที่มีความเชื่ออ่อน ซึ่งพระคริสต์ได้ทรงยอมวายพระชนม์เพื่อเขา จะต้องพินาศไป

¹²Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

¹²เมื่อท่านทำผิดเช่นนั้นต่อพวกพี่น้อง และทำร้ายจิตสำนึกผิดชอบที่อ่อนของเขา ท่านก็ได้ทำผิดต่อพระคริสต์

¹³Therefore if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forevermore, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble.

¹³เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าอาหารเป็นเหตุที่ทำให้พี่น้องของข้าพเจ้าหลงผิดไป ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่กินเนื้อสัตว์อีกต่อไป เพราะเกรงว่าข้าพเจ้าจะทำให้พี่น้องต้องหลงผิดไป
