¹You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

¹เหตุฉะนั้นบุตรของข้าพเจ้าเอ๋ย จงเข้มแข็งขึ้นในพระคุณซึ่งมีอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์

²The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

²จงมอบคำสอนเหล่านั้นซึ่งท่านได้ยินจากข้าพเจ้าต่อหน้าพยานหลายคนไว้กับคนที่สัตย์ซื่อ ที่สามารถสอนคนอื่นได้ด้วย

³You therefore must endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

³ฉะนั้นท่านจงทนการยากลำบากดุจทหารที่ดีของพระเยซูคริสต์

⁴No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

⁴ไม่มีทหารคนใด เมื่อเข้าประจำการแล้ว จะไปห่วงใยกับการทำมาหากินของเขาในชีวิตนี้ เพื่อผู้ที่ได้เลือกเขาให้เป็นทหารนั้นจะได้ชอบใจ

⁵Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.

⁵และถ้าผู้ใดจะเข้าแข่งขันกัน เขาก็คงมิได้สวมมงกุฎ เว้นเสียแต่เขาได้ปฏิบัติตามกฎ

⁶The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops.

⁶กสิกรผู้ตรากตรำทำงานก็ต้องเป็นคนแรกที่ได้รับผล

⁷Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.

⁷จงใคร่ครวญถึงสิ่งที่ข้าพเจ้าได้พูดเถิด ด้วยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงประทานความเข้าใจให้แก่ท่านในทุกสิ่ง

⁸Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my Good News,

⁸จงระลึกถึงพระเยซูคริสต์ ผู้ทรงสืบเชื้อสายจากดาวิด ได้ทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย ตามข่าวประเสริฐที่ข้าพเจ้าประกาศนั้น

⁹in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained.

⁹และเพราะเหตุข่าวประเสริฐนั้น ข้าพเจ้าจึงทนทุกข์ ถูกล่ามโซ่ดังผู้ร้าย แต่พระวจนะของพระเจ้านั้นไม่มีผู้ใดเอาโซ่ล่ามไว้ได้

¹⁰Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹⁰เหตุฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงยอมทนทุกอย่าง เพราะเห็นแก่ผู้ที่ทรงเลือกสรรไว้นั้น เพื่อเขาจะได้รับความรอดด้วย ซึ่งมีอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์ พร้อมทั้งสง่าราศีนิรันดร์

¹¹This saying is faithful: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.

¹¹คำนี้เป็นคำสัตย์จริง คือถ้าเราตายกับพระองค์ เราก็จะมีชีวิตอยู่กับพระองค์เช่นกัน

¹²If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.

¹²ถ้าเราทนความทุกข์ทรมาน เราก็จะได้ครองร่วมกับพระองค์ด้วย ถ้าเราปฏิเสธพระองค์ พระองค์ก็จะปฏิเสธเราเช่นเดียวกัน

¹³If we are faithless, he remains faithful. He can’t deny himself.”

¹³ถ้าเราไม่เชื่อ พระองค์ก็ยังทรงไว้ซึ่งความสัตย์ซื่อ เพราะพระองค์จะปฏิเสธพระองค์เองไม่ได้

¹⁴Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they don’t argue about words, to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.

¹⁴จงเตือนเขาทั้งหลายให้ระลึกถึงข้อความเหล่านี้ และกำชับเขาต่อพระพักตร์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ไม่ให้เขาโต้เถียงกันในเรื่องถ้อยคำ ซึ่งไม่เป็นประโยชน์เลย แต่กลับเป็นเหตุให้คนที่ฟังเขวไป

¹⁵Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.

¹⁵จงอุตส่าห์สำแดงตนเองให้เป็นที่ชอบพระทัยพระเจ้า เป็นคนงานที่ไม่ต้องอาย ยึดมั่นพระวจนะแห่งความจริงอย่างถูกต้อง

¹⁶But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness,

¹⁶แต่จงหลีกไปเสียจากถ้อยคำหมิ่นประมาทและไร้ประโยชน์ เพราะคำอย่างนั้นย่อมก่อให้เกิดอธรรมมากยิ่งขึ้น

¹⁷and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

¹⁷และคำพูดของเขาจะแพร่ออกไปเหมือนแผลเนื้อร้าย ในพวกนั้นมีฮีเมเนอัสกับฟิเลทัสเป็นต้น

¹⁸men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.

¹⁸คนทั้งสองนั้นได้หลงจากความจริง โดยพูดว่าการฟื้นจากความตายนั้นได้ผ่านพ้นไปแล้ว และได้ทำลายความเชื่อของบางคนเสีย

¹⁹However God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are his,” Numbers 16:5 and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord TR reads “Christ” instead of “the Lord” depart from unrighteousness.”

¹⁹แต่ว่ารากฐานแห่งพระเจ้านั้นอยู่อย่างมั่นคง โดยมีตราประทับไว้ว่า `องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงรู้จักคนเหล่านั้นที่เป็นของพระองค์' และ `ให้ทุกคนซึ่งออกพระนามของพระคริสต์ละทิ้งความชั่วช้าเสีย'

²⁰Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor.

²⁰แต่ว่าในบ้านใหญ่หลังหนึ่งๆมิได้มีแต่ภาชนะทองและเงินเท่านั้น แต่มีภาชนะไม้และภาชนะดินด้วย บ้างก็มีเกียรติ และบ้างก็ไร้เกียรติ

²¹If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.

²¹เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าผู้ใดชำระตัวให้พ้นจากสิ่งเหล่านี้ เขาก็จะเป็นภาชนะที่มีเกียรติ ซึ่งคัดไว้แล้ว เหมาะที่นายจะใช้ให้เป็นประโยชน์ และถูกเตรียมไว้พร้อมสำหรับการดีทุกอย่าง

²²Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

²²จงหลีกหนีเสียจากราคะตัณหาของคนหนุ่ม แต่จงใฝ่ในความชอบธรรม ในความเชื่อ ความรัก และสันติสุข ร่วมกับผู้ที่ออกพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าด้วยใจบริสุทธิ์

²³But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.

²³จงหลีกเลี่ยงจากปัญหาอันโง่เขลาและไม่เป็นสาระ ด้วยรู้แล้วว่าปัญหาเหล่านั้นก่อให้เกิดการทะเลาะวิวาทกัน

²⁴The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient,

²⁴ฝ่ายผู้รับใช้ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าต้องไม่เป็นคนที่ชอบการทะเลาะวิวาท แต่ต้องมีใจสุภาพต่อคนทั้งปวง เหมาะที่จะเป็นครูและมีความอดทน

²⁵in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,

²⁵ด้วยความอ่อนสุภาพจงสอนคนเหล่านั้นที่ต่อสู้กับตัวเอง ถ้าพระเจ้าอาจจะทรงโปรดให้เขากลับใจเสียใหม่มารับความจริง

²⁶and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.

²⁶และเขาอาจหลุดพ้นบ่วงของพญามาร ผู้ซึ่งดักจับเขาไว้ให้ทำตามความประสงค์ของมัน
