¹Listen to this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel.

¹โอ วงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย จงฟังถ้อยคำนี้ ซึ่งเราคร่ำครวญถึงเจ้าว่า

²“The virgin of Israel has fallen; She shall rise no more. She is cast down on her land; there is no one to raise her up.”

²"พรหมจารีอิสราเอลล้มลงแล้ว และเธอจะไม่ลุกขึ้นอีก เธอถูกทิ้งไว้บนแผ่นดินของเธอ ไม่มีผู้ใดพยุงเธอขึ้นอีก"

³For thus says the Lord Yahweh: “The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth one hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.”

³เพราะว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า "เมืองที่มีคนออกไปพันหนึ่งจะเหลือกลับมาหนึ่งร้อยคน และซึ่งมีออกไปหนึ่งร้อยคนจะเหลือสิบคนแก่วงศ์วานของอิสราเอล"

⁴For thus says Yahweh to the house of Israel: “Seek me, and you will live;

⁴เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่วงศ์วานอิสราเอลดังนี้ว่า "จงแสวงหาเรา และเจ้าจะดำรงชีวิตอยู่

⁵but don’t seek Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and don’t pass to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing.

⁵แต่อย่าแสวงหาเบธเอล และอย่าเข้าไปในกิลกาล หรือข้ามไปยังเบเออร์เชบา เพราะว่ากิลกาลจะต้องตกไปเป็นเชลยเป็นแน่ และเบธเอลก็จะศูนย์ไป"

⁶Seek Yahweh, and you will live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel.

⁶จงแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์และเจ้าจะดำรงชีวิตอยู่ เกรงว่าพระองค์จะทรงพลุ่งออกมาอย่างไฟในวงศ์วานโยเซฟ ไฟจะเผาผลาญ และไม่มีผู้ใดดับให้เบธเอลได้

⁷You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:

⁷โอ เจ้าทั้งหลายผู้เปลี่ยนความยุติธรรมให้ขมอย่างบอระเพ็ด และเหวี่ยงความชอบธรรมลงสู่พื้นดิน

⁸seek him who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night; who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth, Yahweh is his name,

⁸จงแสวงหาพระองค์ผู้ทรงสร้างหมู่ดาวลูกไก่และหมู่ดาวไถ และเป็นผู้ทรงกลับเงามัจจุราชให้เป็นรุ่งเช้า และทรงกระทำกลางวันให้มืดเป็นกลางคืน ผู้ทรงเรียกน้ำทะเลมาและโปรยน้ำนั้นลงบนพื้นพิภพ พระเยโฮวาห์คือพระนามของพระองค์

⁹who brings sudden destruction on the strong, so that destruction comes on the fortress.

⁹ผู้ทรงกระทำให้ผู้ที่ถูกปล้นแวบเข้าสู่ผู้แข็งแรง ผู้ที่ถูกปล้นจึงเข้าสู่ป้อมปราการ

¹⁰They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.

¹⁰เขาทั้งหลายเกลียดผู้ที่กล่าวเตือนที่ประตูเมือง และเขาทั้งหลายสะอิดสะเอียนผู้ที่พูดอย่างเที่ยงธรรม

¹¹Forasmuch therefore as you trample on the poor, and take taxes from him of wheat: You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.

¹¹เพราะว่าเจ้าทั้งหลายเหยียบย่ำคนยากจน และเอาส่วยข้าวสาลีไปเสียจากเขา เจ้าจึงสร้างตึกด้วยศิลาสกัด แต่เจ้าจะไม่ได้อยู่ในตึกนั้น เจ้าทำสวนองุ่นที่ร่มรื่น แต่เจ้าจะไม่ได้ดื่มน้ำองุ่นจากสวนนั้น

¹²For I know how many your offenses, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn aside the needy in the courts.

¹²เพราะเรารู้ว่าการละเมิดของเจ้ามีเท่าใด และบาปของเจ้ามากมายสักเท่าใด เจ้าทั้งหลายผู้ข่มใจคนชอบธรรม ผู้รับสินบน และขับไล่คนขัดสนออกไปเสียจากประตูเมือง

¹³Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.

¹³เพราะฉะนั้น คนที่มีปัญญาจะนิ่งเสียในเวลาเช่นนั้น เพราะเป็นเวลาชั่วร้าย

¹⁴Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say.

¹⁴จงแสวงหาความดี อย่าแสวงหาความชั่ว เพื่อเจ้าจะดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้ พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธาจึงจะทรงสถิตกับเจ้าดังที่เจ้ากล่าวแล้วนั้น

¹⁵Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”

¹⁵จงเกลียดชังความชั่ว และรักความดี และตั้งความยุติธรรมไว้ที่ประตูเมือง ชะรอยพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธาจะทรงพระกรุณาต่อวงศ์วานโยเซฟที่เหลืออยู่นั้น

¹⁶Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, the Lord: “Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’ and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

¹⁶เพระาฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธา องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ตามถนนทุกสายจะมีการร่ำไห้ และตามบรรดาถนนหลวงจะมีคนพูดว่า `อนิจจาเอ๋ย อนิจจาเอ๋ย' เขาจะร้องเรียกชาวนาให้ไว้ทุกข์ และให้ผู้ชำนาญเพลงโศกร้องโอดครวญ

¹⁷In all vineyards there will be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you,” says Yahweh.

¹⁷ในสวนองุ่นทั้งสิ้นจะมีการร่ำไห้ เพราะเราจะผ่านไปท่ามกลางเจ้า" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁸“Woe to you who desire the day of Yahweh! Why do you long for the day of Yahweh? It is darkness, and not light.

¹⁸วิบัติแก่เจ้า ผู้ปรารถนาวันแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ วันนั้นจะเป็นประโยชน์อะไรแก่เจ้าเล่า วันแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์เป็นความมืด ไม่ใช่เป็นความสว่าง

¹⁹As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.

¹⁹อย่างกับคนหนีสิงโตไปปะหมี หรือเหมือนคนเข้าไปในเรือนเอามือเท้าฝาผนังและงูก็กัดเอา

²⁰Won’t the day of Yahweh be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?

²⁰วันแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์จะเป็นความมืด ไม่ใช่ความสว่าง เป็นความมืดคลุ้ม ไม่มีความแจ่มใสเลย

²¹I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.

²¹"เราเกลียดชัง เราดูหมิ่นบรรดาวันเทศกาลของเจ้า และจะไม่ดมกลิ่นในการประชุมอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของเจ้าเลย

²²Yes, though you offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.

²²แม้ว่าเจ้าถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาและธัญญบูชาแก่เรา เราจะไม่ยอมรับสิ่งเหล่านั้น และสันติบูชาด้วยสัตว์อ้วนพีของเจ้านั้น เราจะไม่มองดู

²³Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.

²³จงนำเสียงเพลงของเจ้าไปเสียจากเรา เพราะเราจะไม่ฟังเสียงพิณใหญ่ของเจ้า

²⁴But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.

²⁴แต่จงให้ความยุติธรรมหลั่งไหลลงอย่างน้ำ และให้ความชอบธรรมเป็นอย่างลำธารที่ไหลอยู่เป็นนิตย์

²⁵“Did you bring to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, house of Israel?

²⁵โอ วงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย เจ้าได้นำเครื่องบูชาและเครื่องสัตวบูชาถวายแก่เราในถิ่นทุรกันดารถึงสี่สิบปีหรือ

²⁶You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.

²⁶เจ้าทั้งหลายได้หามพลับพลาของพระโมเลคและพระชีอัน รูปเคารพของเจ้า คือดาวแห่งพระของเจ้า ซึ่งเจ้าได้ทำไว้สำหรับตัวเจ้าเอง

²⁷Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus,” says Yahweh, whose name is the God of Armies.

²⁷เพราะฉะนั้น เราจะนำเจ้าให้ไปเป็นเชลย ณ ที่เลยเมืองดามัสกัสไป" พระเยโฮวาห์ ซึ่งทรงพระนามว่าพระเจ้าจอมโยธา ตรัสดังนี้แหละ
