¹It happened in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

¹ต่อมาในรัชกาลของอาหัสโอรสของโยธาม โอรสของอุสซียาห์ กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ เรซีนกษัตริย์แห่งซีเรีย และเปคาห์โอรสของเรมาลิยาห์ กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลได้ขึ้นมายังเยรูซาเล็มเพื่อกระทำสงครามกับเมืองนั้น แต่รบไม่ชนะ

²It was told the house of David, saying, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

²เมื่อเขาไปบอกที่ราชสำนักของดาวิดว่า "ซีเรียเป็นพันธมิตรกับเอฟราอิมแล้ว" พระทัยของพระองค์และจิตใจของประชาชนของพระองค์ก็สั่นเหมือนต้นไม้ในป่าสั่นอยู่หน้าลม

³Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.

³และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับอิสยาห์ว่า "จงออกไปพบอาหัส ทั้งเจ้าและเชอารยาชูบบุตรชายของเจ้า ณ ที่ปลายท่อน้ำสระบนที่ถนนลานซักฟอก

⁴Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

⁴และจงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า `จงระวังและสงบใจ อย่ากลัว อย่าให้พระทัยของพระองค์ขลาดด้วยเหตุเศษดุ้นฟืนที่จวนมอดทั้งสองนี้ เพราะความกริ้วอันร้ายแรงของเรซีน และซีเรีย และโอรสของเรมาลิยาห์

⁵Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,

⁵เพราะว่าซีเรียพร้อมกับเอฟราอิมและโอรสของเรมาลิยาห์ได้คิดการชั่วร้ายต่อพระองค์ กล่าวว่า

⁶“Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel.”

⁶"ให้เราทั้งหลายขึ้นไปต่อสู้กับยูดาห์และทำให้มันคร้ามกลัว และให้เราทะลวงเอาเมืองของเขาเพื่อเราเอง และตั้งบุตรของทาเบเอลให้เป็นกษัตริย์ท่ามกลางเมืองนั้น"

⁷This is what the Lord Yahweh says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

⁷องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า มันจะไม่เป็นไป และจะไม่เกิดขึ้น

⁸For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people;

⁸เพราะเศียรของซีเรียคือดามัสกัส และเศียรของดามัสกัสคือเรซีน ภายในหกสิบห้าปีเอฟราอิมจะแตกเป็นชิ้นๆ กระทั่งไม่เป็นชนชาติอีกแล้ว

⁹and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’”

⁹และเศียรของเอฟราอิมคือสะมาเรีย และเศียรของสะมาเรียคือโอรสของเรมาลิยาห์ ถ้าเจ้าจะไม่มั่นใจ แน่ละ ก็จะตั้งมั่นเจ้าไว้ไม่ได้'"

¹⁰Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับอาหัสอีกว่า

¹¹“Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”

¹¹"จงขอหมายสำคัญจากพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า จงขอในที่ลึกหรือที่สูงเบื้องบนก็ได้"

¹²But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.”

¹²แต่อาหัสตอบว่า "เราจะไม่ทูลขอ และเราจะไม่ทดลองพระเยโฮวาห์"

¹³He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?

¹³และท่านกล่าวว่า "ข้าแต่ข้าราชสำนักของดาวิด ขอจงฟัง การที่จะให้มนุษย์อ่อนใจนั้นเล็กน้อยอยู่หรือ และท่านยังให้พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าอ่อนพระทัยด้วย

¹⁴Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. “Immanuel” means “God with us.”

¹⁴เพราะฉะนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะประทานหมายสำคัญเอง ดูเถิด หญิงพรหมจารีคนหนึ่งจะตั้งครรภ์ และคลอดบุตรชายคนหนึ่ง และเขาจะเรียกนามของท่านว่า อิมมานูเอล

¹⁵He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

¹⁵ท่านจะรับประทานนมข้นและน้ำผึ้ง เพื่อท่านจะรู้ที่จะปฏิเสธความชั่วและเลือกความดี

¹⁶For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.

¹⁶เพราะก่อนที่เด็กนั้นจะรู้ที่จะปฏิเสธความชั่วและเลือกความดีนั้น แผ่นดินซึ่งท่านเกลียดชังนั้น มันจะขาดกษัตริย์ทั้งสององค์

¹⁷Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

¹⁷พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงนำวันนั้นมาเหนือพระองค์ เหนือชนชาติของพระองค์และเหนือวงศ์วานแห่งบิดาของพระองค์ คือวันอย่างที่ไม่เคยพบเห็น ตั้งแต่วันที่เอฟราอิมได้พรากจากยูดาห์ คือกษัตริย์ของอัสซีเรีย

¹⁸It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

¹⁸ต่อมาในวันนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงผิวพระโอษฐ์เรียกเหลือบซึ่งอยู่ทางต้นกำเนิดแม่น้ำแห่งอิยิปต์ และเรียกผึ้งซึ่งอยู่ในแผ่นดินอัสซีเรีย

¹⁹They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures.

¹⁹และมันจะมากันและทั้งหมดก็จะหยุดพักตามหุบเขาที่ร้าง และในซอกหิน และบนต้นหนามทั้งสิ้น และบนพุ่มไม้ทั้งสิ้น

²⁰In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.

²⁰ในวันนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงโกนทั้งศีรษะและขนที่เท้าเสียด้วยมีดโกนซึ่งเช่ามาจากฟากแม่น้ำข้างโน้น คือโดยกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียนั้นเอง และจะผลาญเคราด้วย

²¹It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep;

²¹ต่อมาในวันนั้นชายคนหนึ่งจะเลี้ยงแม่วัวสาวไว้ตัวหนึ่งและแกะสองตัว

²²and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left in the midst of the land.

²²และต่อมาเพราะมันให้นมมากมาย เขาจะรับประทานนมข้น เพราะว่าทุกคนที่เหลืออยู่ในแผ่นดินจะรับประทานนมข้นและน้ำผึ้ง

²³It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns.

²³ต่อมาในวันนั้นทุกแห่งที่เคยมีเถาองุ่นหนึ่งพันเถา มีค่าเงินหนึ่งพันเชเขล ก็จะกลายเป็นต้นหนามย่อยและหนามใหญ่

²⁴People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns.

²⁴คนจะมาที่นั่นพร้อมกับคันธนูและลูกธนู เพราะว่าแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นนั้นจะกลายเป็นที่หนามย่อยและหนามใหญ่

²⁵All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.”

²⁵ส่วนเนินเขาทั้งสิ้นที่เขาเคยขุดด้วยจอบ การกลัวหนามย่อยและหนามใหญ่จะไม่มาที่นั่น แต่เนินเขาเหล่านั้นจะกลายเป็นที่ซึ่งเขาปล่อยฝูงวัวและที่ซึ่งฝูงแกะจะเหยียบย่ำ"
